The problem of automatic neural network assessment of image quality based on the widely used TID2013 image database is considered in the paper. Image quality assessment without the use of basic reference images, as one of the preliminary stages of their processing, is of great importance from the point of view of the information capacity of the images, the necessity and possibilities of enhancement of the image quality when solving the next tasks of segmentation, classification, recognition, etc. A preliminary analysis of the used image quality assessment metrics and, as an alternative, the use of neural networks, primarily deep neural networks, was conducted. The structures of used neural networks and variants of input data for training neural networks in the problem of image quality assessment are presented. The first variant is a regression problem, and the other one is a classification task. Keras software using TensorFlow for tensor operations is used to build and study neural networks. © 2023 IEEE.

This article presents a comprehensive study on the utilization of data mining technologies and ontological approaches in the field of government procurement. This approach is vital for the automated synthesis of necessary documents, offering significant support in decision-making processes. The article concludes with a detailed exploration of the ontological approach to document synthesis in government procurements. It outlines the process of selecting procurement subjects, conducting intellectual analysis of texts, and using intelligent data analysis techniques to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Drilling wells safely without any harm to the environment, faster, more efficiently, and economically have historically been the primary points of operating companies. While these goals are achieved through technology, drilling optimization, and cost reduction approaches;the operator must still deal with multiple discrete service providers, including drilling contractors, with different success targets that may or may not align with the operator's strategy. The concept of Integrated Rig, Drilling and Completion (iRDC) projects is the driver for delivering wells successfully and economically through collaboration and integration. In one such iRDC project in offshore Malaysia, with single focal point handling various drilling services, the project learning curve was improved with numerous efforts and optimization measures undertaken by means of smart drill and value stream mapping processes. Holistic offset well data analysis was performed using historical time-based data to identify improvement opportunities. These were primarily used to maximize the rate of penetration (ROP) by identifying and mitigating main ROP limiters. A batch drilling concept was deployed for the offshore wells. The drilling sequence considered offline well testing and casing cementing operations while, simultaneously, the rig was skidded to drill other wells on the same platform. Furthermore, well sequence optimization considered reservoir management and well hook-up. Overall risks were considered while performing simultaneous operations (SIMOPs). Dynamic performance benchmarking was the key to success. Initial key performance indicators (KPIs) were defined and validated. As new performance benchmarks were achieved, the team sought to standardize best practices using a work method. This work method then became the new standard for operational preparation. Case study of the vertical slope excavation near existing buildings based on visual monitoring of intelligent robots is conducted in the paper. A recent development in Western China required the excavation and vertical cut of a rock slope, which might cause large deformation or failure of existing buildings above the slope. The minimum horizontal distance between the buildings and the cut edge of the slope was 3 meters and the maximum excavation depth was 20 meters. The rock slope was composed of soil, weathered mudstone, sandstone and a set of bedding planes inclining outward was observed. Stabilizing piles strengthened by a series of tie-back anchors were designed to protect the cut slope. The lateral loads acting on the anchor cable and piles was determined by maximal value of the at-rest pressure and modified active pressure. It was observed that the construction sequence had a significant impact on the stability of the slopes. To achieve the efficient computer based analysis, the novel visual monitoring system and intelligent robot is combined. The motion control system of the intelligent robot controls the machine equipment and performs industrial operations and the core of the intelligent robot is the motion control system. A novel motion control algorithm is designed to deal with the challenges in complex scenarios. Through the testing on various applications, the robustness is validated. © 2022 IEEE.

Captioning a video involves condensing the video's information into text, which can be useful in video sentiment analysis, video-guided machine translation (vMT), visual question-answering and humanitarian aid. This paper discusses the details of the architecture of the pLSTM framework that is employed for the vATEX-2020 video captioning challenge. In this work, a sequential method is employed wherein to encode visual features a 3D convolutional neural network (C3D) is used. C3D was pretrained using the Sports-1M dataset. In the decoding phase, the input captions and visual features are fused separately in Long Short Term Memory networks (LSTM). The element-wise dot product is performed on the output of both LSTMs to get the final output. On both publicly available and private test data sets, our model achieves BLEU-4 scores of 0.20 and 0.22, respectively. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.v.

To study the genetic sequence variation underlying traits of interest, the field of comparative genomics is moving away from analyses with single reference genomes to pangenomes;abstract representations of multiple genomes in a species or population. Pangenomes are beneficial because they represent a diverse set of genetic material and therefore avoid bias towards a single reference. While pangenomes allow for a complete map of the genetic variation, their large size and complex data structure hinder contextualization and interpretation of analysis results. Current visualization strategies fall short because they are created for single references or do not illustrate links to metadata. We present a work in progress version of a novel visual analytics strategy for pangenomic variant analysis. Our strategy is designed through an intensive involvement of genome scientists. The current design uniquely exploits interactive sorting, aggregation, and linkage relations from different perspectives of the data, to help the genome scientists explore and evaluate variant-trait associations in the context of multiple references and metadata. © 2022 The Author(s) Eurographics Proceedings © 2022 The Eurographics Association.

In recent days automatic detection of anomalies from surveillance scenes have become major research. Though various deep learning algorithms are being developed, it is still difficult for many models to detect unusual activities in surveillance scenes. Anomalies like carrying weapons, fights, accidents and abandoning objects are rapidly increasing. To detect these anomalies and to overcome the challenges in automatic surveillance systems a novel methodology is proposed which offers a computationally effective and efficient way for video anomaly detection. Initially anomaly recognition is performed evaluating visual fidelity abnormalities for each video frame using signal PSNR ratio. Next, a hybrid model using ConvLSTM and MaskRCNN is combined to detect and classify the anomalies. The system can now dynamically focus on important areas of the movie thanks to this integration. This capability is superior to that of conventional analysis techniques. The system with two structures is more susceptible to different irregularities. Furthermore, the system has picture signals installed, which enhances the data feature more accurate extraction. After a comprehensive evaluation of the benchmark dataset, the suggested method has been proven to work better than the state of art methods. It performs exceptionally well in demanding monitoring situations. For instance, we were able to obtain an area under the curve (AUC) value of 87.96% in the PETS dataset, which surpasses the majority of modern techniques. © 2024 IEEE.

This demonstration introduces the CaseFinder tool, a GUI designed to automate visualizations and quantitatively analyze 911 police reports. The tool allows for efficient data exploration for non-technical users integrating behavioral health-related keywords. By amalgamating diverse keyword category inputs, CaseFinder provides a holistic approach to analyzing reports by uncovering indications of behavioral health problems while including perspectives from multiple professional domains. Ultimately, CaseFinder aims to improve the understanding of the magnitude of the problem of behavioral health issues involved in 911 crises to mitigate reoccurrence.
