In the contemporary digital landscape, the enduring practice of reading books encounters formidable challenges amidst the pervasive allure of instant digital gratification. This paper embarks on a nuanced exploration, dissecting the intricate interplay between digital culture and the enduring significance of reading. While past research has predominantly scrutinized the dwindling popularity of reading and its repercussions on empathy and academic performance, our study takes a deeper dive. We focus on scrutinizing the ramifications of reading, or its absence, on pivotal aspects including stress levels, sleep quality, memory, and cognitive functions. Through rigorous comparative analysis between avid readers and non-readers, our aim is to elucidate the comprehensive impact of reading on human well-being. Furthermore, as part of our research endeavor, we intend to employ sophisticated machine learning models to predict an individual's psychological profile, particularly focusing on their position within the psychology spectrum. Leveraging cutting-edge sophisticated machine learning techniques and data visualization techniques, this research endeavors to unravel the subtle connections between reading habits and diverse dimensions of well-being, underscoring the paramount importance of nurturing a steadfast reading habit.

The leather industry confronts persistent challenges in the maintenance of its product quality, often produced with defects that escape from the traditional conventional inspection methods. This research seeks the transformation of leather quality assurance by harnessing the power of deep learning, specifically through the comparative analysis exploration of Mask RCNN (Mask Region Convolutional Neural Network) and YOLO v8 (You Only Look Once version 8) for precise defect detection and segmentation of wet blue leather. In this comprehensive analysis, the performance of Mask RCNN and YOLO v8 are evaluated using an industrial dataset comprising various defect categories. The study encompasses a deep dive into the intricacies of each model's architecture, training processes, and inference speed to provide an obvious understanding of their respective limitations and strength. Findings from the research showcase the efficacy of both Mask RCNN and YOLO v8 in significantly enhancing defect detection accuracy compared to traditional methods. However, distinct differences emerge in terms of computational speed, resource requirements, and the models' ability to handle diverse defect sizes and shapes. This research provides valuable insights for industry practitioners, being in the selection of the most suitable model for specific operational contexts and facilitates the more informed decisions in implementation of deep learning-powered quality assurance systems. By advancing the precision of defect detection and segmentation through deep learning, the experiment results provided an inference of YOLOv8 being the model with more accuracy in detection and segmenting the defects in the leather, also its ability to provide and predict the defects using lesser training data and time, makes it more efficient model for the manufacturing of good quality of leather.

In addressing the critical need for early detection of COvID-19 and viral pneumonia, our study introduces an advanced system using deep learning for analyzing chest X-ray images and their respective lung masks. Utilizing the comprehensive COvID-QU-Ex dataset, we extensively trained and evaluated five pre-trained deep learning models (ResNet-18, vGG-16, AlexNet, Inception-v3, and DenseNet-169) and developed a novel ensemble model. This ensemble model, combining the strengths of the top-performing models, achieved a notable 96.002% prediction accuracy and 95% recall, outperforming the individual models. Our research goes a step further by integrating explainable AI methodologies, specifically LIME and SHAP, to provide understandable and transparent explanations of the model's decision-making process. These explanations are crucial for identifying critical areas of lung infections and enhancing the model's credibility. Furthermore, we deployed a user-friendly Flask web application, enabling easy access to our system for medical professionals. This application offers immediate analysis of uploaded X-ray images, delivering predictions, accuracy percentages, and interpretative visual explanations. Our work significantly advances the field by providing an accurate, explainable, and accessible tool for early lung disease detection, potentially revolutionizing the approach to healthcare diagnostics. © 2023 IEEE.

We present an interactive visualization tool that enables exploration and comparative analyses of election data in multi-partisan systems. We motivate and explain our design in the context of the Ecuadorian political landscape. We demonstrate the tool with data from Ecuador's three most recent presidential elections. Exploring digital libraries of scientific articles is an essential task for any research community. The typical approach is to query the articles' data based on keywords and manually inspect the resulting list of documents to identify which papers are of interest. Besides being time-consuming, such a manual inspection is quite limited, as it can hardly provide an overview of articles with similar topics or subjects. Moreover, accomplishing queries based on content other than keywords is rarely doable, impairing finding documents with similar images. In this paper, we propose a visual analytic methodology for exploring and analyzing scientific document collections that consider the content of scientific documents, including images. The proposed approach relies on a combination of Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) and multidimensional projection to map the documents to a visual space based on their similarity, thus enabling an interactive exploration. Additionally, we enable visual resources to display complementary information on selected documents that uncover hidden patterns and semantic relations. We show the effectiveness of our methodology through two case studies and a user evaluation, which attest to the usefulness of the proposed framework in exploring scientific document collections.

The purpose of the research is to improve the social infrastructure of residential areas using geoinformation systems. The study of this issue is relevant in the applied sense of beautification and attractiveness of territories. The applied value of the research concerns the areas of new buildings. To achieve this goal, the authors suggest using programming tools in geographic information systems to improve social infrastructure and spatial analysis using three-dimensional scenes in real-time. To achieve this goal, the authors used ArcGIS software, which allows you to visualize the modelling results for more visual perception. The final implementation is the adoption of the necessary decision to improve the location of parking lots within the studied area. The authors researched the example of the Industrial district of the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine. The sequence of steps for improving the location of parking lots proposed in the article can be used to process statistical data in any settlement. For the first time, the authors proposed a symbiosis of the heuristic method and Dijkstra's algorithm when searching for the shortest path. Further research in this direction may involve considering a larger number of factors. As a practical implementation, mathematical formulas are presented for determining the efficiency of the improved parking location. Such indicators can be determined during the conducted research and presented using the elements of the ArcGIS software package. The result of the conducted research is the developed program code and the built sequence of steps for improving parking using GIS. The results of the research will make it possible to significantly improve the social infrastructure of residential areas. Taking WOS (web of Science) as the retrieval platform, the retrieval time is from 2001 to 2021. 2180 English core journals on lower limbs biomechanics in recent 20 years are visually included by using "vosviewer1.6.17". By analyzing the existing research literature, the number of papers, research countries and key words related to lower limb biomechanics are sorted and summarized hope to understand the current research situation and judge the future research trend, so as to provide reference for further *** is a commonly used visual analysis software, but there are few related analyses on lower limb biomechanics. The thick bio clastic limestone oilfield in the Middle East is mainly porous reservoir, and water injection is an important development strategy. In order to deepen the understanding of the influence of the reservoir heterogeneityon water injection development and improve the effect of water injection development, taking the lower member of M Formation in A oilfield in Iraq as an example, the bioclastic limestone reservoir heterogeneity, its effect on water injection development and strategies are studied by comprehensively using the data of core, welllogging, casting thin section, analysis and production performance. In the study area, the distribution of reservoir porosity and permeability is scattered, with the average porosity of 20.27% and the average permeability of 29.6 × 10−3 μm2,the study area include type I to type vI reservoirs. Type I and II reservoirs aremainly located in the rudist shoals on the margin of platform inMB2-1 andMB2-2layers. The average porosity of the interlayers is 9.83%, and the average permeabilityis 0.71×10−3 μm2, with low seepage capacity, interlayers mainly located in MC1-3, MC1-1, MB2-2 and MB2-1 layers. The bottom water injection effect is poor at the continuous area of interlayers, thus, the reservoir pressure deficit is large, resulting in inconsistent reservoir pressure and production characteristics in different layers, the lower member of M Formation can be divided into two reservoirs. Type I and Type II reservoirs are main contributors to productivity and also control the dominant direction of injection water. However, Type III and Type v reservoirs with rich reserves have low development degree, and there servoir productivity has not been fully released. The purpose of the paper is to explore the influence of screen size on users' visual attention when browsing e-commerce websites using advanced eye-tracking technology. This study aims to address the gap by examining how screen size influences users' visual attention in online shopping. The study involved 117 participants to identify website sections that significantly attracted their visual attention. Key findings reveal that website attractiveness (mean value: 3.80) on desktop device plays a vital role in capturing users' focus. Additionally, users eye gaze fixations reported higher satisfaction (mean value: 3.9) and ease of use (mean value: 3.9) when using ecommerce webpages on mobile device compared to desktop device. These findings provide essential insights for e-commerce website designers to optimize user experiences for designing effective layouts tailored to different device types. This work contributes broadly to the field of human-computer interaction, focusing on the connection between visual behavior, screen size, and interface design. © 2024 The Authors.
