Many business organizations generate a huge amount of transaction data. Association rule mining is a powerful analysis tool to extract the useful meanings and associations from large databases and many automated systems have been developed for mining association rules. However, most of these systems usually mine many association rules from large databases and it is not easy for a user to extract meaningful rules. visualization has become an important tool in the data mining process for extracting meaningful knowledge and information from large data sets. Though there are several techniques for visualizing mined association rules, most of these techniques visualize the entire set of discovered association rules on a single screen. Such a dense display can overwhelm analysts and reduce their capability of interpretation. In this paper we present a novel technique called VisAR for visualizing mined association rules. VisAR consists of four major stages for visualizing mined association rules. These stages include managing association rules, filtering association rules of interest, visualizing selected association rules, and interacting with the visualization process. Our technique allows an analyst to view only a particular subset of association rules which contain selected items of interest. VisAR is able to display not only many-to-one but also many-to-many association rules. Moreover, our technique can overcome problems of screen clutter and occlusion.

In the OLAP context, exploration of huge and sparse data cubes is a tedious task that does not always lead to efficient results. We propose to use a Multiple Correspondence analysis (MCA) in order to enhance data cube representations and make them more suitable for visualization and thus, easier to analyze. We also provide an original quality criterion to measure the relevance of the obtained data representations. Experimental results we led on real data samples have shown the interest and the efficiency of our approach.

This paper presents a Rapid Controller Prototyping environment completely based on open source software. GNU/Linux with the RTAI extension is used as a hard real-time operating system. The Scilab/Scicos suite permits performance of all phases of the control system design. A modified Scicos code generator directly generates the C-code for the Linux RTAI environment. Finally, the generated hard real-time task runs as a user space application on a standard PC using the COMEDI drivers to interface with the real plant. A GUI application facilitates the user to interact with the running real-time task (datavisualization, data collection, parameters tuning) directly from any PC in the network. All needed software is available on the web and can be freely downloaded. Some applications are presented to demonstrate the potentialities of the presented suite.

This time consuming process is an obstacle that inhibits the real-time battlespace awareness needed by commanders to dynamically task assets to address time critical targets and help the Air Force meet its goal of "striking mobile and emerging targets in single digit minutes"(2). This paper describes how research performed for the Dynamic Intelligence Anticipation, Prioritization, and Exploitation System (DIAPES) supports this goal by leveraging advances in ontological modeling, intelligence data integration;artificial intelligence;and visualization. DIAPES applies automated analysis and visualization to an integrated ontology that specifies the relationships among intelligence and planning products and battlespace execution assets. This research seeks to enable commanders and analysts to perform 'what-if' scenarios to judge tradeoffs and determine the potential propagation effects that retasking assets to address time critical targets have throughout battlespace plans and participants.

In this paper we apply polynomial models to the problem of reflectance recovery for both three-channel and multispectral imaging systems. The results suggest that the technique is superior in terms of accuracy to a standard linear transform and its generalisation performance is equivalent provided that some regularisation is employed. The experiments with the multispectral system suggest that this advantage is reduced when the number of sensors are increased.
