CodeCrawler is a language independent, interactive, information visualization tool. It is mainly targeted at visualizing object-oriented software, and has been successfully validated in several industrial case studies over the past few years. CC adheres to lightweight principles: it implements and visualizes polymetric views, visualizations of software enriched with information such as software metrics and other source code semantics. CC is built on top of Moose, an extensible language independent reengineering environment that implements the FAMIX metamodel. In its last implementation, CC has become a general-purpose information visualization tool.

The problem of perceptually optimizing complex visualizations is a difficult one, involving perceptual as well as aesthetic issues. In our experience, controlled experiments are quite limited in their ability to uncover interrelationships among visualization parameters, and thus may not be the most useful way to develop rules-of-thumb or theory to guide the production of high-quality visualizations. In this paper, we propose a new experimental approach to optimizing visualization quality that integrates some of the strong points of controlled experiments with methods more suited to investigating complex highly-coupled phenomena. We use human-in-the-loop experiments to search through visualization parameter space, generating large databases of rated visualization solutions. This is followed by data mining to extract results such as exemplar visualizations, guidelines for producing visualizations, and hypotheses about strategies leading to strong visualizations. The approach can easily address both perceptual and aesthetic concerns, and can handle complex parameter interactions. We suggest a genetic algorithm as a valuable way of guiding the human-in-the-loop search through visualization parameter space. We describe our methods for using clustering, histogramming, principal component analysis, and neural networks for data mining. The experimental approach is illustrated with a study of the problem of optimal texturing for viewing layered surfaces so that both surfaces are maximally observable.

This paper presents an interactive analysis and visualization framework for behavior histories, called mPATH framework. In ubiquitous computing environment, it is possible to infer human activities through various sensors and accumulation of their data. visualization of such human activities is one of the key issues in terms of memory and sharing our experiences, since it acts as a memory assist when we recall, talk about, and report what we did in the past. However, current approaches for analysis and visualization are designed for a specific use, and therefore can not be applied to diverse use. Our approach provides users with programmability by a visual language interface for analyzing and visualizing the behavior histories. The framework includes icons representing data sources of behavior histories, analysis filters, and viewers. By composing them, users can create their own analysis method of behavior histories. We also demonstrate several visualizations on the framework. The visualizations show the flexibility of creating behavior history viewers on the mPATH framework.

In the paper, a new principal curves design is presented which is based on a new subdivision scheme. Principal curves are extensions of principal component analysis and are smooth curves, which pass through the middle of data sets. The core of principal curves design is to iteratively average the current local projections of the data sets which produce smooth 'middle' curves. The adaptive principal curves design is generated in two steps: forming the fold line by joining up the nodes in order, generating scheduled smooth curves by iteratively subdividing the fold lines. The experiments demonstrate the validity and facility of our algorithm.

This research introduces a dynamic data mining process (DDMP) system based on service-oriented architecture (SOA). Each activity in data mining process is viewed as a Web service operated on Internet. The Web services provide functions of data preprocessing, data mining algorithms, and visualization analysis. Depending on user's requirement, the Web services are dynamically linked using Business Process Execution Language for Web service (BPEL4WS) to construct a desired data mining process. Finally, the result model described by Predictive Model Markup Language (PMML) is returned for further analysis. A practical credit card data set provided by a commercial bank is implemented using the proposed system. It is found that the DDMP system can provide dynamical and satisfied analysis result to the enterprise.

The paper informs about rotating line cameras (which capture images of several 100 megapixel), their use for creating (stereo) panoramas, and how they can be used for texturing clouds of 3D points representing range data captured with a laser range finder (with distance errors of less than 5cm at about 50m distance to the view point). Problems occur at geometry and photometry level, and there are interesting challenges in algorithm design.

When creating a visualization for communication, the inclusion of aesthetically appealing elements can greatly increase a design's appeal, intuitiveness and memorability. Used without care, this "sizzle" can reduce the effectiveness of the visualization by obscuring the intended message. Maintaining a focus on key design principles and an understanding of the target audience can result in an effective visualization for communication. This paper describes these principles and shows their use in creating effective designs.

This paper presents our tool for the Vast Challenge 2019 Mini Challenge 1 (MC1). It will give an overview of the approach of data preprocessing techniques used for the given dataset and it will introduce our application which is built considering the requirements and questions to be answered for the MC1. This application consists of Machine Learning techniques and Information visualization techniques such as Integrated Spatial Uncertainty visualization as shown in this paper [1] to convey the needed information to the end users. To show the usefulness of this application we give examples of analysis.

Community health research is practiced with disparate independently used tools that by themselves do not allow for the type of comprehensive and thorough analysis needed for effective public health evaluation. The Spatial OLAP visualization and analysis Tool (SOVAT) is a new type of research application for community health assessments. SOVAT integrates into one system many of the necessary characteristics needed to make comprehensive community health decisions. By combining On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) with Geospatial Information System (GIS) capabilities, our system can handle large amounts of data, perform geospatial and statistical calculations, and then display this information in both a numerical and spatial view within the same interface. It is anticipated that this unique system will provide researchers with the ability to perform more comprehensive assessments while enabling for more informed public health decisions.

Analysing multivariate data is a difficult task. Extensive interaction with the data is often necessary and, hence, the analysis can be quite time consuming. In this paper, we introduce a method to allow the user to simultaneously examine the relationships of a single dimension with many others in the data. The single dimension can then be interactively changed to allow the user to quickly examine all possible combinations. This method is achieved by extending the standard parallel coordinate approach to a 3D clustered multi-relational parallel coordinate representation (CMRPC). To aid this method, we use a technique called relation spacing which is used to position the axes according to how 'interesting' the different relations are. We also propose a number of interaction techniques to further facilitate the analysis process.
