Radioactive ions injected into the decay ring of a Betabeam neutrino facility will constitute a continuous source of decay products distributed around the ring. Secondary ions from beta decays will differ in charge state from the primary ions and will follow widely off-momentum orbits. In the racetrack configuration of the ring, they will be mismatched in the long straights and may acquire large amplitudes, but the great majority of losses will be in the arcs. We describe here a comprehensive model of ion decay, secondary ion tracking, and loss detection, which has been implemented in the tracking and simulation code Accsim. Methods have been developed to accurately follow ion trajectories at large momentum deviations as well as to detect their impact coordinates on vacuum chamber walls and possibly inside magnetic elements. Using secondary-ion data from Accsim and post-processing with Mathematica, we have implemented a follow-on simulation in FLUKA with a 3D geometry of decay ring components and physics models for ion interactions in matter, allowing radiological studies and in particular the visualization and analysis of heat deposition in the dipole magnets which is a critical design factor for the ring. In our simulations we have also implemented absorber elements which are intended to localize the majority of losses outside of the dipoles. These studies provide estimates of ring performance (in terms of loss concentration and management), the effectiveness of absorbers, and the implications for successful superconducting dipole operation.

An increasing popularity of multichannel recordings from freely behaving animals and the need to develop a practical brain-machine interface has fuelled the development of miniature multichannel recording systems. Here we describe our prototype miniature 64-channel acquisition system that could be used for multichannel recordings in freely behaving monkeys or other large animals. The system's features include an high impedance input for neurophysiology electrodes, an integrated battery fed circuitry with a 64 low-noise multiplexed amplifiers array that permits the parallel recording of all channels, a 10-bit resolution ADC, an FPGA digital core for online processing and data transmission, a USB 2.0 link and a custom software for datavisualization and whole system control.

Our perceptive of the scientific datasets has largely relied on numerical and statistical analysis of data from experimental dimension and computer simulation result [4][14][11][12][13]. In particular, we consider a simulated 3D time-varying model of scientific datasets and examine the temporal correlation among datasets. Our goal is to contrive effective visual representations to assist scientists in ascertaining temporal correlation among intricate and apparently chaotic scientific datasets. We propose a hybrid application with combination of streamline, global and local color scale and opacity scheme for spatio-temporal collaborative depiction. We illustrated also few images that can offer an effective tool for visually mining 3D time-varying scientific datasets.

As a complement to model-based approaches for the analysis of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data, methods of exploratory analysis offer interesting options. While unsupervised clustering techniques can be employed for the extraction of signal patterns and segmentation purposes, topographic mapping techniques such as the Self-Organizing Map (SOM) and the Topographic Mapping for Proximity data (TMP) provide additionally a structured representation of the data. In this contribution we investigate the applicability of two recently proposed variants of these algorithms which make use of concepts from lion-Euclidean geometry for the analysis of fMRI data. Compared to standard methods, both approaches provide more freedom for the representation of complex relationships in low-dimensional mappings while they offer a convenient interface for the visualization and exploration of high-dimensional data sets. Based on data from fMRI experiments, the application of these techniques is discussed and the results are quantitatively evaluated by means of ROC statistics.

But there no significant work has been done in this area. So we have done some preliminary works in this domain. By some extensive analysis we classes images of this domain in some sub domains and also identified the nature of features those can be considered as silent. We develop a prototype based on this analysis where we store extracted features information of a statistical images as Meta data. Then we devise some strategy to do similarity searching using standard query formulation.

Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is now widely used for tracking a great variety of objects in spatio-temporal dimensions. In the field of urban management and analysis, personal RFID is a powerful tool for tracing both individual pedestrians and crowd dynamics. In this research, we have focused our attention on how public services can use RFID technology, especially from the viewpoint of attractive and real-time visualization. In a trial demonstration, we installed nine RFID-reader gates in an urban district and provided hundreds of passive RFID-tags to pedestrians. Using this basic RFID-infrastructure, we developed a public display service which visualized and reported urban activities in the style of a real-time weather map. A large display shows the density of people at each location by using geometric contour lines and virtual clouds. Accumulated data is automatically updated and the 'weather' map quickly changes as time passes. The weather-like visualization helps the user understand the dynamics, flows, and trends of crowds, and promotes intuitive forecasting of urban activity.

OntoDNA is an automated ontology mapping and merging system that utilizes unsupervised data mining methods, comprising of Formal Concept analysis (FCA), Self-Organizing map (SOM) and K-means incorporated with lexical similarity, namely Levenshtein edit distance. The unsupervised data mining methods are used to resolve structural and semantic heterogeneities between ontologies, meanwhile lexical similarity is used to resolve lexical heterogeneity between ontologies. OntoDNA generates a merged ontology in concept lattice that enables visualization of the concept space based on formal context. This paper briefly describes the OntoDNA system and discusses the obtained alignment results on some of the OAEI 2007dataset. The paper also presents strengths and weaknesses of our system and the method to improve the current approach.
