Industrial computed tomography (ICT) systems have widely applied in many important industrial areas for nondestructive testing (NDT) and non-destructive evaluate (NDE). A software system on 3D image visualization and analyzing for industrial CT is developed. This system is built on the frame that based on data flow model, and with the modules such as data I/O, data pre-processing, 3D visualization and data analyzing. It is includes the functions of complicated surface constructing, transparent volume rendering, reslicing, virtual endoscopy and 3D measuring. The system has been applied to several types of industrial CT, and the results indicate that it can clearly shows the 3D configuration and material information of tested object, which helps to analyze the object's status. The system improved the usefulness of industrial CT images and extended the functions of industrial CT.

El Feel reservoir is characterized by high impedance fluvio-glacial Ordovician sandstone sealed by soft shales. Recognition of seismic responses at Top reservoir cannot provide information on reservoir quality due to simultaneous changes of reservoir and sealing acoustic properties. Acoustic inversion, integrating well and seismic data was therefore a crucial step to derive a 3D seismic reservoir characterization and a robust prior model is required. A limited number of the utilized wells are vertical and the rest are mostly slanted (borehole dips >40°), therefore acquired velocity measurements are mostly biased by shale anisotropy. Also input seismic data fidelity is an issue;it was managed by adopting CRS-stack volume, superior for interpretative and quantitative uses. A geostatistical-based proprietary methodology was developed to integrate seismic and well impedance trends, horizons interpretation, and conditioning wells. Thomsen's anisotropy parameters estimates from well data were used to reduce velocity measures to vertical wells conditions. The followed approach improved data reliability for Petro-Acoustic analysis, well-seismic tie, prior model generation, and inversion. Impedance-Porosity analyses suggested inversion results calibration feasibility by linear or nonlinear (Neural Network) approaches. Output Porosity cube, useful for reservoir modelling, captured sedimentary features highlighted by visualization techniques.

Global research programs related to river basin water resources have at least two things in common: (1) they assess and model hydrological process dynamics on a macro scale and (2) research partners jointly working on such research issues are internationally distributed in different institutions. These prerequisites require a sophisticated and scale bridging data assessment and information management comprising geo-referenced distributed data components, measured or simulated time series, and socio-economic information. Networking such international research structures by means of the internet pose new challenges to Geoinformatics in respect to the design of a Web based distributed database system, metadata and GIS-information management, geo-referenced data query and visualization. Such data management must include powerful and efficient data exchanging software tools and information sharing policies to ensure that decision making can jointly be done on the base of the best information available. Geoinformation includes raster and vector GIS coverages, measured process time series data and associated metadata. Furthermore there are needs to integrate multidisciplinary information and research knowledge related to IWRM comprising information obtained by remote sensing, GIS analysis, modeling, and socio-economic assessments for vulnerability and mitigation. Addressing these challenges and to cope with such data organization and management tasks the Adaptive Integrated data Information System (AIDIS) has been developed by the DGHM at the FSU-Jena. It is based on open source software (OSS) and a multi tier class hierarchy structure. AIDIS has implemented the full ISO 19115 metadata model, and enhances its structure if required e.g. for time series or documents. In recent years, online social data visualization has captured attention from the users as a new platform for constructing and sharing data visualizations as well as collaboration through user comments. Many Eyes and Tableau are the most popular among them. In this paper, we present a statistical analysis of the data retrieved from Many Eyes - an IBM research project. By analyzing all the data visualizations constructed by users from 2007 to 2010, we provide an insight into the online user behavior as well as the patterns and trends in social data visualization.

BioS (Bio-potential Study), a novel environment for Biopotential analysis is here proposed. It provides the processing of biopotentials of any number of channels distributed with different geometry. It includes several features as data importing, data visualization (ID, 2D, 3D), preprocessing (frequency & saturation filtering, statistical analysis), spatio-temporal processing (power spectrum analysis, nonlinear analysis, independent component analysis both in the spatial and time domain). BioS, also, provides a user- friendly Graphic User Interface designed to allow all user to speed up data analysis experiments.

Implementing InfoVis multivariate data tools, timelinked coordinated views and visual dynamic queries with conditioning from scratch is not a simple programming task. Our research objective is to develop a generic GeoAnalytics visualization (GAV) component toolkit, based on the principles behind visual analytics (VA), for dynamically exploring time-varying, geographically referenced and multivariate attributes simultaneously. GAV includes components based on a synergy of technologies from information visualization, geovisualization and scientific visualization. Our research concentrates on improving visual user interfaces (VUI) methods and trying to extend existing visual representation techniques. The effectiveness of our proposed component toolkit and framework is demonstrated in two customized applications GeoWizard analysing multivariate energy usage data for Swedish municipalities and MD-Explorer exploring multivariate data using novel interactive ternary diagrams. We use parallel coordinates with embedded visual inquiry methods that serves as a visual control panel for dynamically linked and coordinated views. Finally, discoveries made during the visual exploration process can be captured and organized in a format for later recall and communication to others.

Patents are an invaluable source of scientific and technological information. Due to the strongly increasing number of patent applications and the broadening of the objectives of patent analysis, there is a great demand for ubiquitous access to patent information and for flexible visualizations meeting the requirements of different groups of users. In this paper we propose new visualization techniques for patent information and approaches for interactively exploring this information in web based environments. We show how these visualizations can be integrated into existing web portals by using a new paradigm that we call Semantic Lens.

This study presents the development and implementation of a new program which can estimate and visualize the threedimensional rock mass rating (RMR) for a tunneling project. The program has been developed in a three-dimensional Geographic Information System (GIS) environment, and provides functionalities for indicator interpolation using borehole and geophysical data. Therefore, it allows the experienced GIS user to use both powerful GIS functionalities to discover spatial patterns of RMR by 3D visualization and some extended functionalities for RMR estimation in a single framework. The developed program was successfully applied to the Daecheong tunneling project in South Korea for route design works. This paper describes the details of the developed program and its application to the Daecheong tunneling project.

Learning management systems (LMSs) store different kinds of e-learning related data, whose analysis is important for monitoring students' learning processes and for helping detection of potential problems on these processes. Different researches apply information visualization concepts and techniques for graphically and interactively presenting LMS data for analysis. Nonetheless, these researches show data obtained by predefined database queries, which fit only specific analysis situations, in despite of unforeseen situations derived from final user's knowledge about e-learning domain. Taking into account these situations, this paper presents a solution that enable LMS users to define database attributes they want to analyze, without need to know the internal organization of LMS database. Selected attributes are treated as a universal relation query and, after executed, query results are automatically converted into interactive graphical representations, avoiding user's concern with selecting the more adequate chart.

In order to explore the development process and evolution trend of technology diffusion research in the digital age, 4543 papers related to technology diffusion published in SSCI source journals in WOS database from 2007 to 2022 were taken as the data source. And based on CiteSpace literature visualization software, the knowledge overview, keyword co-occurrence, evolution trend and hot themes of technology diffusion research were analyzed. The research shows that the popularity of technology diffusion research is increasing and its influence is expanding;the cooperation between scholars and research institutions is loose;the hot topics are mainly the transfer and recipient of technology diffusion, the process of technology diffusion and the diffusion of technology related to renewable energy. This paper makes a systematic synthesis and analysis of the past research on technology diffusion, which can theoretically provide reference for the future research of technology diffusion, and conducts more research on hot spots, difficulties and pain points. In practice, it provides enlightenment for China's technology introduction and technology spillover, and seeks more technology diffusion paths to strengthen its own technological innovation ability. © 2023 ACM.
