Evaluation of user interface design is usually based on usability testing methods. In this paper we analyzed and described the user behavior in the form of the user model. The user model is built on a data set which was acquired through observation of user behavior. The criterion we use for the evaluation of the usability of interface design is the user cognitive load. We present different tools for visualization, simulation and easier analysis of the user model. Because each of the methods and tools presented use only part of the user model, in the end we present methods on how to use the complete user model to correctly describe user behavior. In order to understand such a complex model we need to have a proper visualization tool. The concept of such a visualization tool is presented at the end of this paper.

Visual clustering should be one of the basic tools for time-dependent data analysis in cyberworlds. This paper describes a novel approach to spatial clustering and boundary detection based on geometric modeling and visualization. datasets and boundaries of clusters are visualized as 3D points and surfaces of reconstructed solids changing over time. Our approach applies the concepts of geometric solid modeling and uses density as clustering criteria that comes from traditional density-based clustering techniques. Visual clustering allows the user to analyze results of clustering the data changing over time and to interactively choose appropriate parameters.

In this paper the application of computer graphics and computer vision for texture extraction from infrared image sequences is described. These techniques normally are used in computer graphics to project a virtual scene onto the image plane. For the matching between the images and the given 3D model a strategy is presented based on the estimation of planes in the image sequence using homography. Textures are extracted using an algorithm based on the principles of ray casting to generate partial textures for every visible surface in every single image of the sequence. The textures generated from different images of the sequence belonging to the same façade are combined. By combining the intersection points of several images generated during the ray casting, a dense structure of points can be used to texture and analyse even big building complexes.

Summary form only given. Cell biological systems are highly complex. They consist of many heterogeneously acting and interacting subsystems with various patterns of behavior, interaction and composition. To model and simulate these processes, new formalisms and algorithms are required which can represent the dynamic, multi-level structure. At this point new visualization techniques can serve for facilitating the understanding of models and data as well as for establishing and maintaining the communication with experts from other research fields like biology and medicine. To take a closer look at these potential applications we introduce a schema that outlines the iterative workflow from the wet lab experiments to the simulation model and its execution in a simulator. It moreover integrates comprehensive visual support for the analysis of experiments, the generation and analysis of the model, the analysis of simulation data, and the presentation of results to non-experts. First application-specific visualization techniques are presented as examples.

Models of real world systems are being increasingly generated from data that describes the behaviour of systems. data mining techniques, such as Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), generate models almost independently and deliver accurate models in a very short time. These models (sometimes called black box models) have complex internal structures that are difficult to interpret and we have very limited information about the credibility of their output. A model can be trusted just for certain configurations of input variables, but it is hard to determine which output is based on training data and which is random. In this paper, we present visualization techniques for exploration of models. Primary goal is to consider the behavior of the model in the neighborhood of the data vectors. The next goal is to estimate and locate the ranges in input space where the models are credible. We have developed visualization techniques both for regression and classification problems. Finally, we present an algorithm that is able to automatically locate the most interesting visualizations in the vast multidimensional space of input variables.

When studying a complex process, a design of experiments (DOE) using discrete-event simulation, is a powerful tool to determine key factors and results. A DOE is a road map for data generation and analysis that is methodical, efficient, and meaningful. This presentation highlights two manufacturing simulation case studies with emphasis on the process for creating and assessing the DOEs. DOE evolution is discussed, as well as the difference between a DOE and a DOE model. Tips and tricks for setup, visualization, and graphing are also highlighted.

In order to explore the development process and evolution trend of technology diffusion research in the digital age, 4543 papers related to technology diffusion published in SSCI source journals in WOS database from 2007 to 2022 were taken as the data source. And based on CiteSpace literature visualization software, the knowledge overview, keyword co-occurrence, evolution trend and hot themes of technology diffusion research were analyzed. The research shows that the popularity of technology diffusion research is increasing and its influence is expanding;the cooperation between scholars and research institutions is loose;the hot topics are mainly the transfer and recipient of technology diffusion, the process of technology diffusion and the diffusion of technology related to renewable energy. This paper makes a systematic synthesis and analysis of the past research on technology diffusion, which can theoretically provide reference for the future research of technology diffusion, and conducts more research on hot spots, difficulties and pain points. In practice, it provides enlightenment for China's technology introduction and technology spillover, and seeks more technology diffusion paths to strengthen its own technological innovation ability. © 2023 ACM.

In this paper we discuss the application of multiple linked views for advanced vortex investigation in flow data. Local feature detectors and additional measures integrate into an interactive flow feature detection system based on multiple linked views. We discuss how linking and brushing of derived feature information can lead to increased performance in interactive feature analysis. In a case study we demonstrate how the possibility to integrate the information of multiple detectors leads to sound understanding of vortex type features. Enhanced credibility and combined advantages of several detectors can be achieved by uniting the results of multiple feature detectors in multiple coordinated views.

This study presents the development and implementation of a new program which can estimate and visualize the threedimensional rock mass rating (RMR) for a tunneling project. The program has been developed in a three-dimensional Geographic Information System (GIS) environment, and provides functionalities for indicator interpolation using borehole and geophysical data. Therefore, it allows the experienced GIS user to use both powerful GIS functionalities to discover spatial patterns of RMR by 3D visualization and some extended functionalities for RMR estimation in a single framework. The developed program was successfully applied to the Daecheong tunneling project in South Korea for route design works. This paper describes the details of the developed program and its application to the Daecheong tunneling project.

We introduce our generic "GeoAnalytics" visualization (GAV) component toolkit, based on the principles behind visual analytics (VA), for dynamically exploring time-varying, geographically referenced and multivariate attribute data. GAV includes components that supports a mixture of technologies from the three visualization fields; information visualization, geovisualization and scientific visualization. Our research concentrates on improving visual user interfaces (VUI) methods and extends existing visual representation techniques. In this paper, we demonstrate the synergy of integrating a wide range of different methods using multiple-linked views with a rich variety of possible coordination exploration ideas and allowing the user to view the information from different perspectives and try out different scenarios. The effectiveness of our proposed framework is demonstrated in a tailor-made case study assembled from GAV components and explores the supply and use of energy data for controlling the emission of carbon dioxide among 290 Swedish municipality regions during 1990-2004.
