For the evaluation of data from stimulus response experiments dynamic metabolic network models are generated. With an increase of reaction steps and regulatory interdependencies the amount of the simulation data becomes hard to handle. In this paper, we present the application and extension of methods combining visualization and animation of dynamic models to facilitate the analysis of the complex system behaviour. The dynamic changes of metabolite pools and fluxes are simultaneous visualized within the network structure. Depending on the scaling used, different focuses can be set, e.g. to observe local dynamics or global concentration balances. For the visualization of the present inhibition and activation state of certain reaction steps of a metabolic network model a novel quantification method is proposed. The sensitivity analysis of dynamic metabolic network models leads to high-dimensional sensitivity matrices that vary over time. To process the enormous amount of data we use a colour scale transformation and the reorderable matrix method for the visual exploration of the time-varying matrices. The benefits of our methods are illustrated with the help of a metabolic network model of the central carbon metabolism in Escherichia coli. (C) 2008 IMACS. Published by Elsevier B.V. This paper follows a method to effectively provide useful visualizations of learners' behavior in e-Learning. The results are some interactive visualization that should provide a much more proactive way of analysis, since it requires having to pay more attention for a complete understanding of the data and also, offers more data in the same time frame and space for the user (teacher). We present the analysis we have made to effectively provide the visualization tool that fitted us, the Prefuse visualization Toolkit to develop within our in-house e-Learning Tracking System called Merlin, which is sharable and fully open source. Finally, interactive visualization has helped us, teachers, to improve assessment of learning, and can probably help you too.

This paper presents anew information visualization framework that supports the analytical reasoning process. It consists of three views - a data view, a knowledge view and a navigation view. The data view offers interactive information visualization tools. The knowledge view enables the analyst to record analysis artifacts such as findings, hypotheses and so on. The navigation view provides an overview of the exploration process by capturing the visualization states automatically. An analysis artifact recorded in the knowledge view can be linked to a visualization state in the navigation view. The analyst can revisit a visualization state from both the navigation and knowledge views to review the analysis and reuse it to look for alternate views. The whole analysis process can be saved along with the synthesized information. We present a user study and discuss the perceived usefulness of a prototype based on this framework that we have developed.

We have developed thin client AJAX Web 2.0 visualization components called GeoTimeline (TM) and GeoTimeWheel (TM) for displaying temporal event data with geospatial information. The components are interactive, live, linked and contain many novel features for understanding temporal and geospatial patterns in event data. Our underlying data model extends GeoRSS and thus enables us to ingest common geo-coded data from web feeds. Our system is suitable for both off-line analysis of static datasets and real-time monitoring of live feeds.

Engineering collaboration is inevitable in the various engineering phases including product design phase, analysis phase, inspection phase, and so on. However, sharing engineering data generated from CAD/CAE/CAI systems is technically very difficult due to the complexity and size of the data. Besides, heterogeneous CAD/CAE/CAI systems make it difficult to accomplish data sharing for engineering collaboration purpose. We propose a new integrated engineering data representation scheme and developed visualization and real-time conference system for remote engineering collaboration and sharing information between companies. The system's capability includes data translation, visualization and conference using engineering information generated from the various commercial engineering systems. It supports integrated history management for product design information along with other engineering information such as analysisdata, inspection data, and manufacturing data. The developed system is used as a basis of the infrastructure for the collaborative product lifecycle management.

Information visualization techniques have been successfully used to build visual and interactive analysis of data and data relationships. One of its possible areas of application is computer network monitoring and traffic analysis. The analysis of the internal behavior of a company with high demand for Internet services helps to determine if the company is competing with its own clients over the available resources for online transactions, or event putting client information in risk. PRISAM, a tool with multiple coordinated data views has been analyzed to find patterns involving transactions against the company security policies. The goal is to suggest changes to improve the quality of service.

visualization techniques are of increasing importance in exploring and analyzing large amounts of multidimensional data. A new visualization technique for the computation of 2-D DFT in terms of 2 x 2 data and its analysis is presented. Since the visual representation gives direct relationship between time domain data and the frequency domain representation in terms of pictures, signal analysis can be made simple through the present representation scheme. Visual representation shows specific pattern depending on the appearance, existence and size of the data matrix. Various types of redundancy present in the visual representation are explored. The analysis proposed in this work enables to derive simple and efficient schemes for DFT computation.

The VAST 2008 Challenge consisted of four heterogeneous synthetic data sets each organized into separate mini-challenges. The Grand Challenge required integrating the raw data from these four data sets as well as integrating results and findings from team members working on specific mini-challenges. Modeling the problem with a semantic network provided a means for integrating both the raw data and the subjective findings.

The analysis of large corporate shareholder network structures is an important task in corporate governance, in financing, and in financial investment domains. In a modem economy, large structures of cross-corporation, cross-border shareholder relationships exist, forming complex networks. These networks are often difficult to analyze with traditional approaches. An efficient visualization of the networks helps to reveal the interdependent shareholding formations and the controlling patterns. In this paper, we propose an effective visualization tool that supports the financial analyst in understanding complex shareholding networks. We develop an interactive visual analysis system by combining state-of-the-art visualization technologies with economic analysis methods. Our system is capable to reveal patterns in large corporate shareholder networks, allows the visual identification of the ultimate shareholders, and supports the visual analysis of integrated cash flow and control rights. We apply our system on an extensive real-world database of shareholder relationships, showing its usefulness for effective visual analysis.

In this paper, we describe solutions how pixel-based visualization techniques can support the decision making process for investors on the financial market. We especially focus on explorative interactive techniques where analysts try to analyze large amounts of financial data for long-term investments, and show how visualization can effectively support an investor to gain insight into large amounts of financial time series data. After presenting methods for improving the traditional performance/risk computation in order to take user-specific regions of interest into account, we present a novel visualization approach that demonstrates how changes in these regions of interest affect the ranking of assets in a long-term investment strategy.
