We propose two independent OCT data processing methods allowing visualization and analysis of the blood flow. These methods utilize variations in the OCT intensity images caused by flowing blood. The first method calculates standard deviation of intensity to generate retinal OCT angiograms. We present algorithm of this method and results of application for visualization of the microvasculature in the macular area of the human eye in vivo. The second method calculates cross power spectra of the volumetric intensity images to assess blood flow velocity in three dimensions. Validation of this method for OCT imaging was performed in a flow phantom.

The SCALE code system developed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory provides a comprehensive, verified and validated, user-friendly tool set for criticality safety, reactor physics, radiation shielding, and sensitivity and uncertainty analysis. For more than 30 years, regulators, licensees, and research institutions around the world have used SCALE for nuclear safety analysis and design. SCALE provides a "plug-and-play" framework with 89 computational modules, including three deterministic and three Monte Carlo radiation transport solvers that are selected based on the desired solution. SCALE'S graphical user interfaces assist with accurate system modeling, visualization, and convenient access to desired results. SCALE 6.1 builds on the existing capabilities and ease-of-use of SCALE and provides several new features such as enhanced lattice physics capabilities and multigroup Monte Carlo depletion, improved options and capabilities for sensitivity and uncertainty analysis calculations, improved flexibility in shielding and criticality accident alarm system calculations with automated variance reduction, and new options for the definition of group structures for depletion calculations. The SCALE 6.1 development team has focused on improved robustness via substantial additional regression testing and verification for new and existing features, providing improved performance relative to SCALE 6.0, especially in reactor physics calculations and in the nuclear data used for source term characterization and shielding calculations.

Objective:To analyze the research hotspot of international sports biomechanics within the last 5 years and further provides some valuable conclusions and findings to researchers,manager, decision-makers,and other ***:By adopting SCIE,SSCI,and A&HCI in the Web of Science as the data source,the author used the CiteSpaceⅡsoftware to make visual analysis for 520 sports biomechanics literatures published from 2008 to 2012 and their references,and further demonstrate the results by ***:By analyzing the node types,such as the country/keyword/term/cited reference with the CiteSpaceⅡ,the results show that the research on sports biomechanics is mainly in developed countries focusing on biomechanics,neuromuscular control,injury prevention and recovery,and long-term neurologic outcomes by ***:Keeping track of the research hotspots and significant changes will contribute to the development of sports biomechanics.

This paper describes a web-based visual analytics monitoring system for identifying major bottlenecks, reporting on travel time reliability, and displaying other congestion measures using private sector vehicle probe data fused with agency incident/event data where available. This system represents an exponential leap forward in capabilities to report on system performance in terms of speed and ease of access, usability, and overall data availability. This paper demonstrates how states are using the system to justify construction projects, demonstrate the benefits of transportation projects, identify areas for improvement, and analyze travel times using a variety of data sources, with an emphasis on vehicle probe data. The underlying system includes probe data from as early as 2008 through today that is being used to analyze trends from year-to-year, month-to-month, and day-to-day. The resulting suite of tools provide significant new capabilities to researchers and analysts that will likely fuel additional research.

An alternative form to multidimensional projections for the visual analysis of data represented in multidimensional spaces is the deployment of similarity trees, such as Neighbor Joining trees. They organize data objects on the visual plane emphasizing their levels of similarity with high capability of detecting and separating groups and subgroups of objects. Besides this similarity-based hierarchical data organization, some of their advantages include the ability to decrease point clutter;high precision;and a consistent view of the data set during focusing, offering a very intuitive way to view the general structure of the data set as well as to drill down to groups and subgroups of interest. Disadvantages of similarity trees based on neighbor joining strategies include their computational cost and the presence of virtual nodes that utilize too much of the visual space. This paper presents a highly improved version of the similarity tree technique. The improvements in the technique are given by two procedures. The first is a strategy that replaces virtual nodes by promoting real leaf nodes to their place, saving large portions of space in the display and maintaining the expressiveness and precision of the technique. The second improvement is an implementation that significantly accelerates the algorithm, impacting its use for larger data sets. We also illustrate the applicability of the technique in visual data mining, showing its advantages to support visual classification of data sets, with special attention to the case of image classification. We demonstrate the capabilities of the tree for analysis and iterative manipulation and employ those capabilities to support evolving to a satisfactory data organization and classification.

Visualizing the collective modulation of multiple neurons during a known behavioral task is useful for exploratory analysis, but handling the large dimensionality of neural recordings is challenging. We further investigate using static dimensionality reduction techniques on neural firing rate data during an arm movement task. This lower-dimensional representation of the data is able to capture the neural states corresponding to different portions of the behavior task. A simulation using a dynamical model lends credence to the ability of the technique to generate a representation that preserves underlying dynamics of the model. This technique is a straightforward way to extract a useful visualization for neural recordings during brain-machine interface tasks. Meaningful visualization confirms underlying structure in data, which can be captured with parametric modeling.

In recent years we witnessed an impressive advance in the social networks field, which became a "hot" topic and a focus of considerable attention. Also, the development of methods that focus on the analysis and understanding of the evolution of data are gaining momentum. In this paper we present an approach to visualize the evolution of dynamic social networks by using Tucker decomposition and the concept of trajectory. Our visualization strategy is based on trajectories of network's actors in a bidimensional space that preserves its structural properties. Furthermore, this approach can be used to identify similar actors by comparing the shape and position of the trajectories. To illustrate the proposed approach we conduct a case study using a set of temporal friendship networks.
