Rising popularity of internet technology has opened up many popular internet applications like Video on Demand, Internet TV, Video Conferencing, Telemedicine etc. But unwanted third party, the adversary can have access to the content if there is no security. Therefore, the security and privacy of the video content has become a challenging issue in the last decade. Many encryption algorithms have been proposed to meet the security requirements of the different applications. But, lack of application friendliness limits those algorithm form practical implementation. In this paper, we have proposed one selective video encryption algorithm to address the real-time security requirements. We propose one bits selection algorithm to select the higher intense bits to achieve higher visual degradation. In this paper, we have used AES encryption algorithm for encryption. This enhances the cryptographic security of the algorithm which will be well suited for real-time data transmission application.

A promising P2P application, P2P-TV, has attracted hundreds of thousands of Chinese viewers. These viewers who are located in different regions represent groups with distinct cultures. However, little existing research has provided sufficient insights into the societal impact of P2P-TV systems, from the viewpoint of geographic distribution of viewers. In this paper, we analyze geographic distribution of viewers of three most popular P2P-TV systems simultaneously, PPLive, PPStream and UUSee. With more than 20 GB worth of log data from three different P2P-TV systems, we have completed a thorough investigation of geographic distribution of viewers. We also seek to explore the potential correlation between viewer population density and economic development level and find that there is indeed a highly negative correlation between them.

The Department of Homeland Security - Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) has partnered with FEMA to investigate and assess new technologies and processes for an updated Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) Enterprise Platform (EP) for operational use. HSEEP is a capabilities and performance-based exercise program which provides a standardized policy, methodology, and terminology for exercise design, development, conduct, evaluation, and improvement planning. An integral part of HSEEP was the development of the HSEEP Toolkit, a web-based collection of tools for exercise scheduling, design, development, evaluation and improvement planning. The current HSEEP toolkit does not facilitate information sharing or provide a seamlessly integrated exercise support system. In order to effectively update the capabilities of this HSEEP toolkit, an exhaustive assessment was performed that focused on: new system requirements; translation of the new system requirements and the results of an initial operations analysis into an improved HSEEP toolkit prototype aimed at exercise support; and the incorporation of science-based information and data via modeling and simulation (M&S) capabilities into the HSEEP exercise cycle.

Clustering algorithms are used as data analysis tools in a wide variety of applications in Biology. Clustering has become especially important in protein structure prediction and virtual high throughput screening methods. In protein structure prediction, clustering is used to structure the conformational space of thousands of protein models. In virtual high throughput screening, databases with millions of drug-like molecules are organized by structural similarity, e.g. common scaffolds. The tree-like dendrogram structure obtained from hierarchical clustering can provide a qualitative overview of the results, which is important for focusing detailed analysis. However, in practice it is difficult to relate specific components of the dendrogram directly back to the objects of which it is comprised and to display all desired information within the two dimensions of the dendrogram. The current work presents a hierarchical agglomerative clustering method termed bcl::Cluster. bcl::Cluster utilizes the Pymol Molecular Graphics System to graphically depict dendrograms in three dimensions. This allows simultaneous display of relevant biological molecules as well as additional information about the clusters and the members comprising them.

In this paper we carry out a survey on key frame extraction methods for Video Summary. We also discuss the summary evaluation criteria and compare the approaches based on the method, data set and the results. Video Summary is a process of presenting an abstract of entire video within a short period of time. It aims to provide a compact video representation, while preserving the essential activities of the original video. It is an essential task in video analysis and indexing applications. Most of the video summaries are based on selection of key frames within the shots of a video. Many of them use motion features and few use visual features for extracting the key frames. The video summary quality assessment methods are based more on subjective and less on objective measures. Tong wei Ren et al has provided a framework to assess the quality of the video against a given reference summary using both subjective and objective measures. Ciocca et al used the objective measures for evaluation of summary and most of them evaluate by taking the subjective opinion of experts. A framework for automatic evalution is needed based on both subjective and objective measures without the reference summary.

Complex Event Processing (CEP) enables companies to monitor and control business processes in near real time. Despite the vast potential of generic CEP frameworks, experience showed that adopters are often overwhelmed with the inherent complexity of CEP, and heavily rely on external expertise to set up the required event-processing logic. In this paper we present a novel approach to creating, packaging and deploying event-based applications. Based on the event- processing framework SARI, so-called solution templates allow offering well-proven, standardized event-processing logic for common business needs. Delivering many benefits of off-the-shelf software while maintaining the flexibility of a CEP-based architecture, solution templates can easily be tailored to the specific business processes and needs of an individual corporation by customer-side domain experts. Real-time event processing logic is assembled from predefined, easy-to-use building blocks, in a way that fully abstracts from the underlying complexity. Event analysis is supported by predefined configurations for querying and visualizing historic event data. We demonstrate our approach using a real-world application from the workload automation domain.

Hybrid learning usually incorporate online learning activities since face-to-face class time has been reduces significantly. One of the major challenges in hybrid course is to maintain the same level of student-to-student and student to-instructor interaction as in traditional classes. Various strategies, which include online discussion, online journals, online tutorial, etc., have been developed to engage students and improve the interaction. Online discussion is one of the common strategies. Online discussion relies on asynchronous communication, where participants communicate by posting messages to the bulletin board system such as Blackboard Discussions. Asynchronous communication has the potential to make collaboration efforts more rewarding and productive for students by enabling them to communicate at any time and from any networked location. The focus of this ongoing study is to explore changes in students' level of high-order thinking and knowledge construction in asynchronous threaded discussions, the emergence of communication patterns and structures in the asynchronous communication network, and relationships between role centrality and concept centrality in student discourse. It will employ content analysis and social network analysis to pursue its research foci.

Passive millimeter wave imaging has the capability of detecting concealed objects under clothing. However, the image quality is often degraded due to low spatial resolution and low signal level. This paper addresses passive millimeter wave imaging and registration and fusion of a passive millimeter and a visual image in order to visualize human subject's identity and concealed objects together. The image registration process is composed of body boundary detection and affine transform maximizing cross-correlation coefficients of two edge images. The image fusion process comprises three stages: discrete wavelet transform for image decomposition, a fusion rule for merging the coefficients, and the inverse transform for image synthesis. In the experiments, metallic and non-metallic objects are detected and fused with the image of a human subject.

Facial behaviour of deception has emerged as an important topic in surveillance research. In this paper, we evaluate the facial behaviour of deception based on some of the cues identified in the literature. First, we present a short review of deception cues in facial behaviour. Then, we run a pilot study, using a rapport style one-to-one interview scenario, under controlled and experimental conditions. Following the standard practice, the experiment has been designed to incorporate three stages. Stage one: facilitation session, in which the baselines are established for each participant. Stage two: interrogation session, in which the participants are required to answer questions on two topics - one truthfully and one falsely. Stage three: self-reporting session, in which the participants are required to report the ground truth for stage two. Once the data regarding visible images of facial behaviour was collected, it was analysed and compared to the facial behaviour cues identified in literature. For statistical analysis, a non-parametric sign-test was selected. The results indicated that there is potential in applying facial behaviour as the cues in predicting deception. Finally, a discussion on future work introduce more subtle facial actions analysis is presented.

Contextual information is important for interpreting human actions especially when actions exhibit interactive relationship with their context. Contextual clues become even more crucial when videos are captured in unfavorable conditions like extreme low light nighttime scenarios. These conditions encourage the use of multi-senor imagery and context enhancement. In this paper, we explore the importance of contextual knowledge for recognizing human actions in multi-sensor nighttime videos. Information fusion is utilized for encapsulating visual information about actions and their context. Space-time action information is contained using 3D fourier transform of fused action silhouette volume. In parallel, SIFT context images are extracted and fused using principal component analysis based feature fusion for each action class. Contextual dissimilarity is penalized by minimizing context SIFT flow energy. The action dataset comprises multi-sensor night vision video data from infra-red and visible spectrum. Experimental results show that fused contextual action information boost action recognition performance as compared to the baseline action recognition approach.
