Interactive spatial analysis package are available in a number of traditional desktop GIS. However, visualizing multi-temporal thematic maps through the Internet is still limit to fix contents and restrict change of the input data. The users with limited GIS knowledge are normally have difficulties to create and output thematic maps from generic data. In this study, we develop thematic mapping services that can be applied to non-spatial data format served through powerful map services solutions. Naive users who have no GIS software experience can simply input a plain text file with location identifier field such as place name or gazetteer to generate time-series thematic maps online. The system designed by this paper has great priorities in following three aspects: 1) Serving as a thematic engine for non-GIS data format;2) Accelerating the common workflow and data redistribution by using online service;3) Automate geographic coordinates and features discovery by utilizing location identifier. The system dedicates a great deal of effort to the initiated study of time-series geospatial analysis and visualization for naive users including those with no past experience using Geographic Information Systems.

Cardiac magnetic resonance perfusion imaging (CMR) and computed tomography angiography (CTA) are widely used to assess heart disease. CMR is used to measure the global and regional myocardial function and to evaluate the presence of ischemia;CTA is used for diagnosing coronary artery disease, such as coronary stenoses. Nowadays, the hemodynamic significance of coronary artery stenoses is determined subjectively by combining information on myocardial function with assumptions on coronary artery territories. As the anatomy of coronary arteries varies greatly between individuals, we developed a patient-specific tool for relating CTA and perfusion CMR data. The anatomical and functional information extracted from CTA and CMR data are combined into a single frame of reference. Our graphical user interface provides various options for visualization. In addition to the standard perfusion Bull's Eye Plot (BEP), it is possible to overlay a 2D projection of the coronary tree on the BEP, to add a 3D coronary tree model and to add a 3D heart model. The perfusion BEP, the 3D-models and the CTA data are also interactively linked. Using the CMR and CTA data of 14 patients, our tool directly established a spatial correspondence between diseased coronary artery segments and myocardial regions with abnormal perfusion. The location of coronary stenoses and perfusion abnormalities were visualized jointly in 3D, thereby facilitating the study of the relationship between the anatomic causes of a blocked artery and the physiological effects on the myocardial perfusion. This tool is expected to improve diagnosis and therapy planning of early-stage coronary artery disease.

Due to the fast development of Semantic Web and its new branch of Linked Open data, large amounts of structured information on various scientific areas become available. Digital libraries, information systems and portals based on ontologies are the most reliable sources of this information that need careful investigation in order to optimize management of science. A generally accepted way to facilitate understanding of such large and complex data sets is a graph visualization. This paper is devoted to visualization of citation networks extracted from information portals and digital libraries based on ontologies.

Digital crimes are a part of modern life but evidence of these crimes can be captured in network traffic data logs. Analysing these logs is a difficult process, this is especially true as the format that different attacks can take can vary tremendously and may be unknown at the time of the analysis. The main objective of the field of network forensics consists of gathering evidence of illegal acts from a networking infrastructure. Therefore, software tools, and techniques, that can help with these digital investigations are in great demand. In this paper, an approach to analysing and visualising network traffic data based upon the use of self-organising maps (SOM) is presented. The self-organising map has been widely used in clustering tasks in the literature;it can enable network clusters to be created and visualised in a manner that makes them immediately more intuitive and understandable and can be performed on high-dimensional input data, transforming this into a much lower dimensional space. In order to show the usefulness of this approach, the self-organising map has been applied to traffic data, for use as a tool in network forensics. Moreover, the proposed SOM takes into account the qualitative features that are present in the traffic data, in addition to the quantitative features. The traffic data was was clustered and visualised and the results were then analysed. The results demonstrate that this technique can be used to aid in the comprehension of digital forensics and to facilitate the search for anomalous behaviour in the network environment.
