This paper presents a new view for PRISMA information visualization tool, this new visualization will provide support for analyzing data on maps. The use of maps will provide a way for geographical dataanalysis by using coordinates. Geographic analysis becomes important when it comes to verification of database that uses the location as a key factor to create contexts. This paper will describe the new integrated view and main features of the map.

There is a growing number of courses delivered using e-learning environments and their online discussions play an important role in collaborative learning of students. Even in courses with a few number of students, there could be thousands of messages generated in a few months within these forums. Manually evaluating the participation of students in such case is a significant challenge, considering the fact that current e-learning environments do not provide much information regarding the structure of interactions between *** is a recent line of research on applying social network analysis (SNA) techniques to study these interactions. And it is interesting to investigate the practicability of SNA in evaluating participation of students. Here we propose to exploit SNA techniques, including community mining, in order to discover relevant structures in social networks we generate from student communications but also information networks we produce from the content of the exchanged messages. With visualization of these discovered relevant structures and the automated identification of central and peripheral participants, an instructor is provided with better means to assess participation in the online discussions. We implemented these new ideas in a toolbox, named Meerkat-ED. Which prepares and visualizes overall snapshots of the participants in the discussion forums, their interactions, and the leader/peripheral students. Moreover, it creates a hierarchical summarization of the discussed topics, which gives the instructor a quick view of what is under discussion. We believe exploiting the mining abilities of this toolbox would facilitate fair evaluation of students' participation in online courses.

While the arctic possesses significant information of scientific value, surprisingly little work has focused on developing robotic systems to collect this data. For arctic robotic data collection to be a viable solution, a method for navigating in the arctic, and thus of assessing glacial terrain, must be developed. Segmenting the ground plane from the rest of the image is one common aspect of a visual hazard detection system. However, the properties of glacial images, namely low contrast, overcast sky, and cloud, mountain, and snow sharing common colors, pose difficulties for most visual algorithms. A horizon line detection scheme is presented which uses multiple visual cues to rank candidate horizon segments, then constructs a horizon line consistent with those cues. Weak cues serve to reinforce a selected path, while strong cues have the ability to redirect it. Further, the system infers the horizon location in areas that are visually ambiguous. The performance of the proposed system has been tested on multiple data sets collected on two different glaciers in Alaska, and compares favorably, both in terms of time and classification performance, to representative segmentation algorithms from several different classes.
In this paper, we propose a method to compare and visualize spectrograms in a low dimensional space using manifold learning. This approach is divided in two steps: a data processing and dimensionality reduction stage ...

We describe a free software tool which combines a set of algorithms that provide a framework for building 3D volumetric images of regions of moving anatomy using multiple fast multi-slice MRI studies. It is specifically motivated by the clinical application of unsedated fetal brain imaging, which has emerged as an important area for image analysis. The tool reads multiple DICOM image stacks acquired in any angulation into a consistent patient coordinate frame and allows the user to select regions to be locally motion corrected. It combines algorithms for slice motion estimation, bias field inconsistency correction and 3D volume reconstruction from multiple scattered slice stacks. The tool is built onto the RView (http://***) medical image display software and allows the user to inspect slice stacks, and apply both stack and slice level motion estimation that incorporates temporal constraints based on slice timing and interleave information read from the DICOM data. Following motion estimation an algorithm for bias field inconsistency correction provides the user with the ability to remove artifacts arising from the motion of the local anatomy relative to the imaging coils. Full 3D visualization of the slice stacks and individual slice orientations is provided to assist in evaluating the quality of the motion correction and final image reconstruction. The tool has been evaluated on a range of clinical data acquired on GE, Siemens and Philips MRI scanners.

This paper describes a method to apply the Frequency and Co-occurrence Trend (FACT)-Graph to comparison analysis. FACT-Graph is the method to visualize the changes in keyword trends and relationships between terms over two time periods. The usefulness of FACT-Graph has been shown in tracking trends in politics and crime. To apply FACT-Graph to compare information, we use class transition analysis and separate analysis periods into categories that are the target of comparisons, and collate the features in each comparison target. For the comparison analysis by using 138 articles from two newspapers, we compare topics such as politics and events in them by using the relationships between terms found in the FACT-Graph results.

We present a multiple views visualization for the security data in the VAST 2010 Mini Challenge 2. The visualization is used to monitor log event activity on the network log data included in the challenge. Interactions are provided that allow analysts to investigate suspicious activity and escalate events as needed. Additionally, a database application is used to allow SQL queries for more detailed investigation.

Acquire the metadata of shared scientific data of Earth System Science on the Portal of Chinese Science and Technology Resource, extract field keyword for analysis, then use Network Workbench Tool (NWB Tool) for keyword co-occurrence network analysis. By conducting community detection and network visualization on 5 sub-fields of the acquired data, this paper presents the status and features in each selected sub-field of shared Earth System Science data resources under China Scientific data Sharing Project (SDSP), this work shows that network analysis and visualization tools of NWB provide effective means for data resource measurement and analysis.

Deepwater drilling activity in the Gulf of Mexico is no longer a given in the aftermath of the BP Macondo blowout. The new and ever evolving process to apply for drilling permits and operate now greatly depends on: 1. Optimal well designs certified for accuracy by Professional Engineers 2. Thorough real-time monitoring of pertinent surface and down-hole data, and 3. Deployment of new joint industry well capping and spill containment equipment for response to a blowout. This paper makes no attempt to address the topics in items 1 and 3. In regard to item 2, a new method for loading and analyzing live time and depth data has shown merit during recent 2010 trials on two deepwater wells, one offshore eastern Canada and the other offshore west of the Shetland Islands. Rapid data access and standardized visualization of high resolution time, depth, and survey data is vital to insure that the occasional well control event doesn't become today's worldwide news headline. Deepwater drilling management demands a highly trained staff with timely access to data in a format easily used by the key decision makers wherever they are. After the BP Macondo blowout, the news frenzy and blame game quickly showed the entire world that all operators may not be truly partnered with their rig and service suppliers in cooperative efforts to safely drill and complete the high rate wells which have historically made the deepwater Gulf of Mexico an attractive area to explore. After the blowout, the gathering of high quality data from remote real time data centers was quickly elevated to critical status for use in the government's investigation. High quality data collection and interpretation should always be managed with utmost attention to detail in light of the inherent risks of deepwater drilling and the fact that the industry simply cannot afford another incident. After a major disaster in any business sector, new technology is always promoted as a key ingredient to avoid and manage any fut
