Three-dimensional geological model can describe the types of geological information, and express a variety of topological relations among geological phenomena. Kriging interpolation is an important spatial interpolation method of geological modeling, but every grid point needs to compute augmented matrix and solve equations. With the modeling scale and bore data quantity increasing rapidly, we propose to use CUDA which is multi-threaded parallelism to implement parallel Kriging interpolation algorithm. Cutting the geological model can effectively analyze their internal structure, however, the traditional serial cut algorithms are slow when grid quantity is large. We propose a novel geological model polyline cut algorithm using CUDA. The algorithm is based on grid structure, using polyline to cut stratum surfaces. And then the geological faults can be simulated based on our cut algorithm. We make high speedup and preferable visualization effects finally.

For monitoring network traffic, there is an enormous cost in collecting, storing, and analyzing network traffic datasets. data mining based network traffic analysis has a growing interest in the cyber security community, but is computationally expensive for finding correlations between attributes in massive network traffic datasets. To lower the cost and reduce computational complexity, it is desirable to perform feasible statistical processing on effective reduced datasets instead of on the original full datasets. Because of the dynamic behavior of network traffic, traffic traces exhibit mixtures of heavy tailed statistical distributions or overdispersion. Heavy tailed network traffic characterization and visualization are important and essential tasks to measure network performance for the Quality of Services. However, heavy tailed distributions are limited in their ability to characterize real-time network traffic due to the difficulty of parameter estimation. The Entropy-Based Heavy Tailed Distribution Transformation (EHTDT) was developed to convert the heavy tailed distribution into a transformed distribution to find the linear approximation. The EHTDT linearization has the advantage of being amenable to characterize and aggregate overdispersion of network traffic in real-time. Results of applying the EHTDT for innovative visual analytics to real network traffic data are presented.

Real-time interactive visualization plays an important role in the analysis of 3D cardiac imaging data and the assessment of electrophysiological simulation result. Recently, the graphics programmable processor unit (GPU), an increasingly convincing acceleration approach, has been widely adopted in various graphics, visualization, and scienti"c computing applications. In this paper, we present a GPU-based volume visualization approach for real-time interactive human heart illustration. In our scheme, we "rst design the transfer function by constructing a lookup table, and adopt a slice-based direct volume rendering method for realtime visualization. Then, a real time heart tissue isolation strategy is used to illustrate each tissue individually. Finally, we design several interactive tools and implement a platform for the effective visualization of cardiac tissues.

visualization technique is a powerful method used by science and technology intelligence analysis experts to identify technical competitor groups. Common visualization methods tend to create graphs meeting the aesthetic criteria instead of finding better clusters, and their analysis results may provide misleading information. A process model of technical group identification method was presented using LinLog graph clustering algorithm to find better competitor groups. In the model, technical similarity value of each pair of competitors is measured based on their R&D output in sub-fields, and two competitors have a link when they have high similarity value; LinLog algorithm, which is aimed at producing better clusters, was employed to layout graph with competitors as nodes, their links as edges and technology similarity values as weights of edges. Experiment results show the efficiency of presented method.

Overdraw and edge crossings are common problems during the exploration of large graphs. Layout methods, such as edge bundling, have been applied to diminish this problem. They often come at the cost of introducing local ambiguities and losing connectivity detail, thus making edge interaction difficult. In this paper we propose EdgeAnalyzer, a focus+context technique for direct interaction with edges and edge bundles, keeping the original graph layout unaltered. Edges can be focused, grouped, filtered, and selected employing user-chosen criteria allowing for the analysis of the underlying data. EdgeAnalyzer can be applied to different kinds of node-link diagrams, but is particularly useful when similarities of edges can be exploited. We demonstrate EdgeAnalyzer with different example scenarios, and show the feasibility of the approach in more detail for co-classification analysis in the intellectual property domain.
