In this paper, we design and implement a reliable data processing and analysis test bed (NESCTB) for wireless sensor networks (WSNs). It contains 36 wireless sensor nodes connected through Ethernet to a central server so that, with web interface, remote users are able to schedule tasks and monitor the nodes' operations online. In addition, reprogramming and data logging can also be provided via the wired network. Powerful data processing and analysis tools are developed for information searching and processing, real-time topology visualization, 2-D and 3-D viewing of statistical diagrams, snapshots and timing sequences. The tools can significantly improve user-friendliness and operability of the test bed. The application scenarios of the test bed are discussed and a validation experiment for the referred application case NESCSurge demonstrates the convenience and effectiveness of NESCTB.

We present epSpread, an analysis and storyboarding tool for geolocated microblogging data. Individual time points and ranges are analysed through queries, heatmaps, word clouds and streamgraphs. The underlying narrative is shown on a storyboard-style timeline for discussion, refinement and presentation. The tool was used to analyse data from the VAST Challenge 2011 Mini-Challenge 1, tracking the spread of an epidemic using microblogging data. In this article we describe how the tool was used to identify the origin and track the spread of the epidemic.

To integrate the kinds of multi-source heterogeneous emergency information resources, in this paper, a Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) based earthquake emergency information integration framework is proposed, and then discusses the service-based integration methods of seismic disaster information, thematic information, analysis and specialty GIS, and describes the key technologies of management, sharing integration and visualization of the multi-source heterogeneous mass emergency information. The service-based unified two-dimensional and three-dimensional disaster information service platform is developed by taking Yushu earthquake of China as a case study, it proves that this architecture is feasible and effective for emergency information integration solution.

Motion Capture (MoCap) is becoming important in many areas of technology, science, and art, including graphics, visualization, gaming, and medical applications. In parallel with its increased use and abundance, compression of this kind of data is becoming more important. In this paper, we propose a hybrid low-delay compression scheme for MoCap data that is particularly suitable for interactive applications such as online gaming or telemedicine. Experimental results confirm the superiority of the proposed approach against state-of-the-art methods for MoCap compression in both compression efficiency and delay, making it suitable for interactive applications.

Information retrieval is a process of managing the user's needed information. IR system captures dynamically crawling items that are to be stored and indexed into repositories;this dynamic process facilitates retrieval of needed information by search process and customized presentation to the visualization space. Search engines plays major role in finding the relevant items from the huge repositories, where different methods are used to find the items to be retrieved. The survey on search engines explores that the Naive users are not satisfying with the current searching results;one of the reason to this problem is "lack of capturing the intention of the user by the machine". Artificial intelligence is an emerging area that addresses these problems and trains the search engine to understand the user's interest by inputting training data set. In this paper we attempt this problem with a novel approach using new similarity measures. The learning function which we used maximizes the user's preferable information in searching process. The proposed function utilizes the query log by considering similarity between ranked item set and the user's preferable ranking. The similarity measure facilitates the risk minimization and also feasible for large set of queries. Here we have demonstrated the framework based on the comparison of performance of algorithm particularly on the identification of clusters using replicated clustering approach. In addition, we provided an investigation analysis on clustering performance which is affected by different sequence representations, different distance measures, number of actual web user clusters, number of web pages, similarity between clusters, minimum session length, number of user sessions, and number of clusters to form.

SOM network(self-organizing feature map neural network) learning with no instructors which has self-adaptive, self-learning features. The advantage is to maintain the topology of original data. It is in extensive application in the field of the data classification, knowledge acquisition, process monitoring fault identification and so on. SOM network is used for rotor fault diagnosis. The U matrix map and D matrix is used as visualization tools to simulate and analyses the classification results, and it is com-pared with the general SOM network clustering results. The conclusion is that the SOM network visualization method is simple and easy to understand, and has high rate in fault discrimination.

In recent years, music-finding services have been increasing. If we have explicit information specifying pieces of music, we can find music to our taste using such services. This paper describes a tool to support music discovery. The tool visualizes a relational structure among music genres and the music-preference data of many listeners to make the users aware of their favorite music without explicit information. Through analyzing the problems existing in simulating root growth under external effect, regarding the feature that external effect can be decomposed into single impact factor (SIF), the root-soil system domain knowledge constructing method has been raised based on relational analysis of SIF. This method is based on external effects model database, mines the SIF data and builds Links among them, adopts multidimensional association rule of Apriori algorithm and threshold selection to select effective SIF, uses MATLAB to quantize data, and then constructs a domain knowledge database of SIF's effects to root growth, ultimately, uses OpenAlea and combines a root growth model to achieve the visuaLized simulation of root growth. Take soil compaction as an external effect to carry on a comparison experiment, the result shows that this method can prompt to complete a visuaLized simulation of root growth efficiently.
