wavelet analysis, a computational method, decomposes data into frequency components, analyzed by scale, effective for signals with discontinuities. Originating from diverse fields like mathematics, physics, and engineering, wavelet theory finds applications in image compression, radar, and more. Using scalable wavelet functions, it allows precise signal reconstruction, differing from constant scale methods. This study compares adapted and traditional wavelets, emphasizing Finite Impulse Response (FIR) efficiency. Applying these wavelets for pattern recognition, particularly in spike detection in EEG data, highlights their versatility in complex signal processing.

Medical images include human body picture and it is used in diagnosis purpose. Lossless compression of medical image is an application of medical imaging. During lossless compression task, transformation algorithm can be used to increase compression ratio. In Real time applications such as telemedicine and online diagnosis, hardware implementation accelerates the process. Hence, for such purposes medical compression is better to be simple. Lossless JPEG and JPEG2000 are some compression method. JPEG2000 gives better compression ratio. However, it is complex. In this paper an efficient method of lossless image transformation has been introduced by improving prediction model. Simulation results show that the new method has reduced the entropy compared to Differential Pulse Code Modulation (DPCM) and Discrete wavelet Transform (DWT) which are used in JPEG and JPEG2000 respectively. Moreover, this method is cost effective due to computational complexity and entropy reduction.

Facial Expression is the easy way of telling/showing inner feelings. The Facial Expression Recognition system has many applications including human behavior understanding, detection of mental disorders, synthetic human expressions and many more. This paper presents a quick survey of facial expression recognition as well as a comparative study of various features on JAFFE and CK datasets. It mainly focuses on appearance based techniques. Recently, HOG has been widely used for feature extraction in image. It is found in our experiment that HOG feature gives comparable good recognition rate in facial expression recognition. Fusion of LBP with LGC and Fusion of HOG with other features like LDP and wavelets also improved their respective recognition rates.

Transform/subband representations form a basic building block for many signal processing algorithms and applications. Most of the effort has focused on developing representations for infinite-length signals, with simple extensions to finite-length 1-D and rectangular support 2-D signals. However, many signals may have arbitrary length or arbitrarily shaped (AS) regions of support (ROS). We present a novel framework for creating critically sampled perfect reconstruction transform/subband representations for AS signals. Our method selects an appropriate subset of vectors from an (easily obtained) basis for a larger (superset) signal space, in order to form a basis for the AS signal. In particular, we have developed a number of promising wavelet representations for arbitrary-length l-D signals and AS 2-D/M-D signals that provide high performance with low complexity.

Cotton is one of the most vital cash crops cultivated around the globe and its yield directly influences the economy and the livelihood of huge number of people associated with it. The major loss of cotton occurs due to damage incurred by microbial pathogens that infect the cotton crop. The course of infection and their effect on the growth and yield of the plant varies depending upon the type of disease. Appropriate treatment for the specific type of disease could prevent the spread of infection and also reduce the use of pesticide that is usually done during the empirical treatment techniques. Identification of the type of cotton plant disease is critical and needs to be done at a faster pace. image processingbased machine learning approach is found to be a better option for this application. This article deals with development of the machine learning model capable of identifying the different types of cotton plant diseases using image processing. Foliar images of diseased cotton plants are collected from public databases and preprocessing operations like resizing, filtering and contrast enhancement are performed followed by k-means clustering for segmentation of diseased part of the leaf. image decomposition is performed using discrete wavelet transform with Daubechies wavelet at five levels and the mean, standard deviation, and entropy of the coefficients are used for building the machine learning model. Classification with Artificial Neural Network trained with backpropagation algorithm has a classification accuracy of 97% indicating the veracity of the model. Hence, the developed model could be used as for developing a user-friendly interface that could be tapped for real-time applications.

The MPEG-4 standard is revealing very attractive for a large set of applications. In some of them a copy protection system allowing to control the distribution of multimedia data is required. A new technology useful for copyright protection is watermarking: a digital code (watermark), indicating the copyright owner, is directly embedded into the video signal. The possibility of the MPEG-4 standard to directly access objects within a video sequence introduces a constraint to the watermarking process: even if a video object is transferred from a sequence to another, the copyright data of the single object has to be correctly detected. Another requirement is that, in order to be robust against format conversions, the watermark has to be inserted before compression. The method proposed in this paper satisfies the previous requirements by relying on an image watermarking algorithm which embeds the code in the discrete wavelet transform of each frame.

In recent years, multimedia computing has emerged as a major area of research. This led to the development of various other types of applications like video, images and graphics. Data compression is specifically valuable during communication as it enables the electronic devices to store and transmit the data in a smaller number of bits. The following research considers data compression as a possible solution to retrieve, store and transmit data. In relation to this, this research also aims to have a balance between the processing time, the quality and compression rate based on Human Visual System (HVS) perception. The best compression method for multimedia conversion would be to convert at the highest possible rate with the minimum amount of distortion. For this reason, the proposed method using wavelet based on HVS method with integrated JPEG2000 to achieve a high compression ratio, faster execution and better quality all in real time. This experiment work has improved the performance of the previous method and achieved the best result of data compression using wavelet based on HVS.

In this paper, we undertake the development and performance evaluation of a parallel system for the compression of medical images. The system under study consists of a network of workstations running a parallel implementation of a wavelets compression software. Different data distribution and synchronization strategies are evaluated aiming to minimize the system response time. Numerical results of the different strategies under investigation are provided.

Digital watermarking is a method used to protect intellectual property rights and copyrights. This study represents a blind method based on Discrete wavelet Transform (DWT) and QR decomposition. In this method, the cover image is firstly divided into non-overlapping blocks, and then the blocks with low standard deviation are selected to embed the watermark. After each of the selected blocks is decomposed by DWT, low frequency sub-bands are subjected to QR decomposition. The first row of the R matrix resulting from QR decomposition is used to embed the watermark bits. Firefly Algorithm (FA) is utilized to optimize the gain factor of embedding, which is effective in determining the robustness and imperceptibility of the watermarking scheme. To appraise the performance of the study, Peak signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) is used to measure the perceptual quality and Normalized Correlation (NC) is used to evaluate robustness. According to experimental results, the perceptual quality of the proposed method is found to be higher than that of similar studies in the literature. In addition, it is established that the robustness of the method against attacks such as noise, cropping, compression, and filtering is better.

Excessive angular decision diffusion-weighted imaging (HARDWI) is an effective approach for visualizing tissue microstructures, which are otherwise hard to look at the usage of conventional MRI technology. To attain this, HARDWI relies on sign-processing techniques to reconstruct images from tremendously anisotropic diffusion-weighted alerts. Novel signal processing strategies advanced in current years have further advanced the abilities of HARDWI. These strategies leverage the sparsity of diffusion signal in more than one angular guideline, allowing the reconstruction of man or woman diffusion occasions within the specimen’s microstructure. wavelet rework-primarily based strategies allow for the advanced decision of the reconstructed images, extended evaluation, and stepped forward signal-to-noise ratio in the resulting photographs. Other strategies, inclusive of diffusion orientation transform, have been advanced to estimate the orientation of fiber tracts better. Furthermore, spatially-variable regularization techniques have been advanced for advanced estimation of the diffusion parameters at a voxel stage. The combination of these signal processing techniques has advanced the application of HARDWI to a spread of biomedical applications, such as neuroanatomy, tumor imaging, and small animal studies.
