Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) has gained widespread recognition and popularity in imageprocessing due to its ability of capturing energy of signal in a few energy transform value. As well as it has also ability to underline and represent time-varying spectral properties of many transient and other nonstationary signals. In DWT denoising is done only in detail coefficient, this offer advantage of smoothness and adaption. However DWT has a lack of shift invariance. This shift-variance is a major problem with the use of DWT for transient signal analysis and pattern recognition applications. Denoising of images with the DWT some time also give visual artifacts due to Gibbs phenomena in neighbourhood of discontinuities. In this paper, a shift-invariant analysis scheme is proposed for removing of additive Gaussian noise in stationary image. Quantization noise is present in all the current digital imaging systems, therefore its understanding and modeling is crucial for optimization of image reconstruction techniques. Hence, this paper deals with modeling of the quantization noise. We exploit the undecimated wavelet transform (UWT) for signal representation. We assume that the quantization noise in the spatial domain can be seen as additive, white and uniformly distributed. Hence, the UWT causes the transform of noise distribution due to weighted sum of noise samples and filter coefficients. From the known quantization step we are able to estimate suitable moments of noise uniform probability density function (PDF). These moments then could be directly evaluated in the undecimated wavelet domain using the derived equations. The presented algorithm gives the a priori information about the quantization noise and can be used for the suppression of it.

wavelet Transforms is a part of large community of mathematical function approximation method, they are being increasing and being deployed in imageprocessing for segmentation, filtering, classification etc. This work is based on image classification with the use of single level Discrete wavelet Transform (DWT). wavelets have been employed in many applications of signal *** texture features within images are extracted for accurate and efficient Glaucoma Classification. Energy is distributed over the wavelet sub-bands to find these important texture features. The discriminatory potential of wavelet features obtained from the daubechies (db3), symlets (sym3), and reverse biorthogonal (rbio3.3, rbio3.5, and rbio3.7) wavelet filters. We propose a technique to extract energy features obtained using 2-D discrete wavelet transform. The energy features obtained from the detailed coefficients can be used to distinguish between normal and glaucomatous images with very high accuracy. The effectiveness is evaluated using K- NN classifier by taking 30 normal and glaucoma images, 15 images are used for training and 15 images for testing.

In the last few years, efficient resource management turned out to be one of the major challenges for hardware designers. Strategies of reusability through reconfiguration have demonstrated interesting potentials to address it, providing also power and area minimization. The Multi-Dataflow Composer (MDC) tool has been presented to the scientific community to automatically build-up runtime coarse-grained reconfigurable platforms. Originally conceived in the field of Reconfigurable Video Coding (RVC), the MDC allows achieving attractive results also for hardware designers operating in different application fields. In this work, we intend to demonstrate the potential orthogonality of the MDC approach with respect to the RVC domain. A runtime reconfigurable wavelet denoiser, targeted for biomedical applications, has been developed and prototyped onto an FPGA Development Board Spartan 3E 1600. Impressive results in terms of resource minimization have been achieved with respect to more traditional solutions.

Remote sensing image fusion aims at integrating the information conveyed by data acquired which cover different portions of the electromagnetic spectrum at different spatial, temporal and spectral resolutions;so that we can get multi-temporal, multi-resolution and multi-frequency image data for purposes of feature extraction, modeling and classification. The composite or fused image is more useful for human perception as well as for automatic computer analysis task such as feature extraction, segmentation and object recognition. In the paper the possibility of efficient application of the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT-IIIe), type III, even, to generate halfband filters windowed in time domain and used in the 2-dimensional (2D) wavelet-like decomposition-reconstruction scheme is investigated. The study is based on 6 test images. Comparative computations for varying length of the Hamming window and several image resolution options are used to present the possible trade-off between computations reduction coefficient (CRC) and resulting Peak signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). The results indicate that for tested images of size 512x512 the available CRC is about 57 times, while introduced distortions result in the PSNR value between 30dB and 36dB.
