The integration of diffractive optical elements (DOE) into an opticaldesign opens up new possibilities for applications in sensing and illumination. If the resulting optics is used in a larger spectral range we must correct not only the chromatic error of the conventional, refractive, part of the design but also of the DOE. We present a simple but effective strategy to select substrates which allow the minimum etch depths for the DOEs. The selection depends on both the refractive index and the dispersion.

A luminaire designed for tunnel lighting is proposed, featuring the ability to adjust the ratio between counter-beam and pro-beam lighting based on different contexts. This allows the luminaire to achieve the optimal lighting mode for the conditions within the tunnel at that time. When both side LEDs are activated, it operates in symmetric lighting mode. When a single-side LED is activated, it switches to either counter-beam or pro-beam lighting mode. The advantage of this luminaire lies in the use of a single freeform secondary lens and LEDs, making installation simpler. It ensures driver safety and is more energy-efficient than traditional tunnel lights.

Recently in the micro-opticalengineering area has been a grown in use of tunable liquid lenses because this lenses us allow versatility in the focusing range, also an easy handling and implementation. In the literature, many tunable lens models have been reported, but most of this work has been on describing the optical quality of the images, the opto-mechanical analysis is neglected. In this paper, an analysis of opto-mechanical of a tunable liquid lens is presented, for this;we show a finite element simulation of mechanical behavior and estimate how this influences in the optical performance of the lens. In this study, a low glare and high-efficient tunnel lighting design which consists of a cluster light-emitting diode and a free-form lens is presented. Most of the energy emitted from the proposed luminaire is transmitted onto the surface of the road in front of drivers, and the probability that the energy is emitted directly into drivers' eyes is low. Compared with traditional fluorescent lamps, the proposed luminaire, of which the optical utilization factor, optical efficiency, and uniformity are, respectively, 44%, 92.5%, and 0.72, performs favorably in traffic safety, energy saving, and glare reduction.

This paper presents the results given by the nominal design and tolerance analysis of a narrow-field-of-view camera lens equipped with a rotating prism scanning system. The first aspects taken into consideration have been the compensation of the chromatic aberration, distortion reduction, and the correlation between depth-of-field and lens resolution. Then, a rigorous approach to determine the relationship between the field-of-regard direction and the prism orientations is discussed. Finally, the tolerance analysis results give the predictable pointing direction precision as function of the system tolerances.

This lens with 0.2 numerical aperture and high field of view is a good candidate to be used in multi-aperture super resolution imagers. Point spread function and the telecentricity of the lens is extracted numerically and measured experimentally. The space investigation project "Lira-B" is purposed to perform a high-precision multicolor photometric all-sky survey of objects from 3 to 16 m. This investigation concludes in multiple photometric measurements in ten spectral bands from 200 to 1000 nm. Such telescope systems should provide maximum light gathering and meet stray light requirements. The main goal of the given work is opticaldesign of the telescope system with lens hoods protecting against the parasitic illumination. Analysis of impact of the lens hoods' surface structure and coatings on the image quality is performed and ways to reduce the stray light in the system. The modeling is carried out using Zemax OpticStudio software in the non-sequential mode.

In this study, we propose a new micro-optical system with 1.65 zoom ratio for image stitching. The new system with four layers is based on microlenses and liquid lens arrays. In order to realize the zoom function, we design the first and the fourth layers by the liquid lens and we also set up the second and the third layers as the fixed lens to tilt the optical axes. The length of the system is 6.4 mm, the image size 8.6 x 6.6 mm(2), the field of view (FOV) 50 degrees in wide mode and the field of view 28 degrees in tele mode. The MTF and distortion are used to demonstrate the zoom function, the stitching function and the stitching with zoom function, respectively. We use the ZEMAX ray-tracing software to demonstrate the simulation of image stitching in wide and tele modes.
