TBM is famous for its safety and efficiency of tunnel boring, but TBM is also easy to encounter geological disasters in incompetent rock mass with its poor geological adaptability. Unfortunately, due to the shelter from cutterhead and shield, it’s hard to diagnose and identify the quality of rock mass. Based on this, this paper uses the torque penetration index TPI to predict incompetent rock mass, the main steps can be summarized as follows: firstly, we use linear fitting to calculate TPI, secondly, build the prediction model respectively with II-III grade of surrounding rocks and Iv-v grade of surrounding rocks based on neural network, thirdly, predict the current TPI by the TPI of last boring cycles, finally, calculate the predicted torque based on the penetration and predicted TPI, then the incompetent rock mass is quickly identified through the error analysis between actual torque and predicted torque. © 2023 SPIE.

Metal nanoclusters(MNCs)are ultrasmall metal-organic aggregates,composed of a metal core less than 2 nm and a protecting shell of metal-organic ligand *** controlled aggregation of metal atoms(in the cluster core)and metal-organic ligand motifs(around the cluster core)renders MNCs with numerous molecule-like properties,among which strong and bright luminescence has attracted extensive basic and applied *** has now known that aggregation-induced emission is a feasible mechanism for controlling luminescence of MNCs,which makes it particularly useful in biosensing and bioimaging *** the luminescence fundamentals and design principles largely determine the practicality and effectiveness of MNCs in biosensing and bioimaging applications,a systematic summary of this topic is lacking in the current *** this review,we aim to provide a concise discussion of the latest developments in biosensing and bioimaging applications of luminescent MNCs,highlighting their luminescence mechanisms,biosensing principles,and bioimaging ***,we first introduce the recent advances in the synthetic chemistry of MNCs,and then briefly discuss the luminescence fundamentals *** the design strategy and practicality of luminescent MNCs in biosensing and bioimaging applications are *** conclude the review with our perspectives on the further development of MNC-based optical probes in biosensing and bioimaging *** review is expected to provide guidance for the future practice of designing and synthesizing luminescent MNCs for biomedical and other applications.

The mirror assembly of the ESA New - Advanced Telescope for High-ENergy Astrophysics (New-ATHENA) will be the largest X-ray optics ever built. Indeed, its unprecedented size, mass and focal length create great difficulties for the ground calibration. The vERT-X project aims at developing an innovative calibration facility which will be able to accomplish to this extremely challenging task. The design is based on a 2.5 cm2 parallel beam produced by an X-ray source positioned in the focus of a highly performing collimator. In order to cover the whole mirror, the beam will be accurately moved by a raster-scan with the capability to tilt up to 3 degrees in order to test the off-axis performance and the out of field stray-light. The whole system is enclosed in a cylindrical vacuum chamber about 20m high and with a diameter ranging from 7 to 4m. By design, vERT-X will be able to measure the New-ATHENA mirror half energy width (HEW) with a precision of 0.1", all over the field of view, with the source size, the collimator error and the raster scan tracking accuracy being the most important terms of the error budget. The vERT-X project, started in 2018, is financed by ESA and conducted by a consortium that includes INAF together with EIE, Media Lario, BCv Progetti and Apogeo Space. This paper presents the current state of the development and manufacturing of the most critical systems of the facility, namely the raster-scan mechanism and the source-collimator vertical assembly. © 2023 SPIE.

In this paper, we consider a method for constructing MEMS structures using a self-assembly operation based on controlled self-organization of mechanically stressed semiconductor layers. This work describes the design of highly sensitive tunneling linear acceleration sensors, as well as a nanoelectromechanical switch with two tunnel contacts. Accelerometers of this type have important advantages: hypersensitivity due to the tunnel effect, small dimensions compared to capacitive accelerometers, design flexibility due to wide construction variations depending on requirements, potential possibility of manufacturing structures with three axes of sensitivity in a single technological production cycle, high manufacturability. Tunneling nanoelectromechanical switches also have several advantages: such as low leakage current, energy efficiency, stability, good dynamic characteristics, and can be used in ultra-low-power electronics. © 2022 SPIE.

Background: Highly conjugated carbon-based molecules and nanostructures could show interesting quantum properties for different developments. Quantum emission, encryption, and participation in signal transmissions could contribute to new quantum and nanotechnology. Methods: Quantum properties were analyzed from experimental data recorded with different optical setup configurations and appropriate lasers. The data discussed were correlated and com-pared with calculations. Results: In this review, we discuss the quantum properties of graphene and its derivatives pro-duced by their high electronic densities from highly organized carbon-based structures. We also evaluate their coupling properties by combining other nanomaterial sources with atomic composi-tions that generate different energy levels of quantized states. Quantum emissions, pseudo-electromagnetic field interactions, quantum interferences in Fermi and Landau levels, conduction bands, plasmonic interactions, opto-electronics, electron conductions, and transference implica-tions are also analyzed. Conclusion: The coupling of quantum properties formed from the sub-atomic level towards the transference and transduction to larger scales beyond the nano-and microscale was reviewed. We refer to the future perspectives of the phenomena discussed and their potential applications. © 2022 Bentham Science Publishers.

集成微腔光梳技术,利用集成微腔内的光学非线性作用可在连续光泵浦下产生周期性光脉冲,其在频域上表现为等间隔的光学频率成分。与传统光梳相比,集成微腔光梳具有小型化、功耗低、重复频率大等优势,其独特的时频特性在推动传统光梳向片上化演进的同时,也可与波分复用技术结合,推动了片上集成并行化、大容量的信息传输、处理与感知。在微腔光梳的产生过程中,微腔的色散,即不同波长的光在腔内的群速度差异特性,具有决定性作用。面对不同的应用需求,不同的腔体色散设计至关重要。本文首先介绍了色散对光梳状态影响的研究进展,然后介绍了近年来集成微腔色散设计方面取得的进展,最后对当前的技术与问题进行总结,并对未来的发展进行展望。

The work presented here shows a compact lens system that demonstrates improved imaging quality performance while focusing on as-built performance and design for manufacturing. Using Zemax, we consider an approach for optimizing for as-built performance and incorporate the approach into the design process for a mobile phone camera. The optimized design consists of 6 plastic aspheric lenses, an infrared glass filter, and a 12 MP CMOS image sensor. The optical system demonstrates high-resolution imaging and has a field-of-view of 87.6 degrees, an F-number of 2.0, a maximum distortion of less than 2.5%, and a total track length of 6.630 mm.

Consumers nowadays have a higher expectation on cameras beyond the function of taking photos or videos. In the early years, the applications of cameras with lenses were, however, very restricted. A new generation of super wide-angle lenses capture the user's surroundings in full 360 degrees, allowing the user's friends or families to step inside our universe and experience it, live. However, for such wide angle lens coverage, the relative illumination of the lens must take the vector nature of the light into account. Consequently, the polarization of light becomes a critical parameter. Custom coatings are commonly spread on the lens surface to avoid light transmission polarization falloff. But for consumer applications, complex coating is not a practical solution because it raises cost. In this paper, we present how to take care of the polarization during the design and analysis of the lens design. Additionally, design tips are proposed to suppress the polarization impact.

A few years ago, we started upgrading AO188 into AO3k, including the real-time control system, laser guide star system, deformable mirror (DM), and wavefront sensors (WFSs). In this paper, we present the development of a non-linear curvature WFS (nlCWFS) as a new visible WFS for the upgraded AO3k system. We also introduce the optical and optomechanical design of the nlCWFS. The nlCWFS has two new features: one is the dual-stroke linear mode, and the other one is to deploy non-linear wavefront reconstruction. The dual-stroke linear mode provides a good sensitivity for both low- and high-order aberrations. Also, the non-linear wavefront reconstruction provides a large dynamic range. By combining the linear and non-linear methods, the nlCWFS takes both advantages. Finally, we present laboratory demonstration results of closed-loop experiments in the lab with linear and non-linear wavefront reconstruction algorithms. © 2023 SPIE.
