A little displacement polychromatic parallel non-polarization beamsplitter, which is composed of two elements, has been introduced in this article. It has been studied by theoretical analysis and experiment, and has been given the optimal structure. The displacement of the beamsplitter can be designed in need, which is about 1.0 - 3.0 mm. The polarization degree of the emergent light is below 1.2%, transmission is above 90%, transmission range is from 300 nm to 2500 nm. Its structure is simple, making convenient and loss low.

An original method to enable the exact solution for the noncemented two-lens objective by means of any number of simultaneous non-linear equations is described. The method is limited to spherical surfaces without decentrations. Separations and refractive indices of glasses are fixed. Ail curvatures of surfaces are indirectly determined in the final stage. The typical meridional aperture aberrations deal with aplanatic and achromatic conditions. Essence of the method relies on formulation functions which contain trigonometric expressions and are nested up to certain depth. A spaceborne telescope has been designed and analyzed for a 2-micron solid state coherent lidar system operating on a satellite. The optical system consists of a large off-axis reflective telescope, a large-aperture diffractive scanner, an image derotator and a lag angle compensator. Due to the orbiting motion of the satellite and scanning, the boresight of the telescope shifts during the round trip travel time of the laser pulses to the target. In a coherent lidar system utilizing optical heterodyne detection, the relative alignment of the received signal with respect to the local oscillator beam is particularly critical. Two compensators have been designed to correct the boresight errors as well as the wavefront errors caused by beam wandering due to the boresight changes. Several design approaches for the compensators have been investigated. The optical and optomechanical design issues for such a system are discussed. The results of optical performance, modeling, and tolerance analysis for the telescope are also presented.

Reliable fabrication and assembly of high-quality electro-optical imaging systems is a critical challenge facing electro-optical imaging system manufacturers. optical compensation is one standard approach for minimizing the effects of errors introduced during the manufacture and construction of the optical subsystems. We describe how digital image processing should be considered as a form of compensation when evaluating a complete imaging system. We describe a novel method for digital-optical compensation which jointly adjusts both optical parameters and image processing parameters to maximize end-to-end imaging performance. We verify the superiority of this joint compensation strategy over the traditional sequential compensation through several example imaging systems.

A differential equation method is applied to the design of a three-mirror telescope. The resulting system is mostly free of spherical aberration, coma and astigmatism. From caustic theory and a generalization of the Coddington Equations, the Abbe sine condition and the constant optical path length condition, three coupled differential equations, one for each reflecting surface, are generated. A system which satisfies these conditions will have a high resolution over a wide field of view. Analysis of this application is presented as a comparison to a similar three-mirror telescope system produced by conventional optimization techniques.
