This study examines the design of digital systems created to support users in self-guided exhibitions (i.e., sites without human personnel to support the users). We developed a location-aware smartphone guide called Aratag, which utilizes Bluetooth beacons to serve contextual information at the user's request. Using this guide, we conducted a user study to investigate what types of content institutions perceive as relevant versus the kinds of content users actually find relevant. The study also contributes to our understanding of users' attitudes toward using smartphones to support their self-guidance in exhibitions. Our results provide insights into designing for interplay between the physical setting of the exhibition and the digital platform, so as to inform the utility, desirability, and usability of mobile guides. Based on these findings, we present the following two design insights that should be considered when designing future mobile systems for self-guidance in exhibitions: 1) multi-level content to accommodate individual user interest by scaffolding information layers from glimpses to an increasingly immersive experience and 2) real-time location tracking with clear visual feedback.

The purpose of this article is to present the advances in the development of the navigation systems of an autonomous sailboat using the Gazebo simulation environment, which is based on the Robot Operating System (ROS). This type of vessel is known as a robotic sailboat and their main characteristic is that they have the capacity to perform planning and navigation tasks in an automatic manner without the need for human input. In essence, a robotic sailboat uses digital control systems to perform the same tasks that adjust the course of a traditional vessel, such as sail control and rudder actuation. The advantage of using a simulation environment such as Gazebo for this purpose is that its open-source nature allows code from different developers to be compiled and incorporated for various purposes such as the implementation of sensors or environmental variables, like wind and swell, inside the simulation. Furthermore, the package architecture that ROS uses enables a modular modeling of the different parts, mechanisms, and systems of the sailboat. In this way, changes of the various components, such as the sails, can be made, to test their performance under the same conditions. Results show that the study of the boat performance for different sail configurations and their control is possible through ROS-Gazebo.

This article has the enterprise marketing behavior of a variety of factors for a detailed analysis. The database technology and intelligent multi-agent intelligent marketing model are organically integrated, trying to build a set of intelligent marketing strategy system suitable for enterprises. This paper proposes a multi-level application model based on J2EE platform. According to the design requirements of the system, the explicit structural relationship between the presentation layer, the middle layer and the bottom data layer is designed. The business logic of the program is separated from the user interface, giving the user a simple and convenient interface, while not affecting the normal use of the customer. This project intends to study the user modeling method for personalized marketing based on deep neural networks. Through PGBN-based deep neural network and Gibbs up-down sampling technology, this paper establishes and train users' images and interests and other information to achieve the extraction of users' interests and hobbies. This method can better obtain more user attribute information, which is of great help to achieve accurate marketing.

As intelligent vehicle technologies advance, autonomous service applications like retail vehicles are disrupting traditional service modes. However, effectively coordinating these emerging technologies in service systems design and optimization faces challenges due to unpredictable customer behaviors and demands. This paper explores the potential of parallel service theories to address the complexity of blending automation and human factors. We present a case study applying a parallel service approach to optimize an autonomous retail vehicle service system. By implementing a human-in-the-loop strategy, we focus on modeling customer preference to guide vehicle routing. Simulation experiments demonstrate improved delivery times compared to a basic nearest-neighbor policy. Despite limitations like simplified customer models, our preliminary results suggest parallel services hold promise for managing future hybrid human-machine service systems.

Although there are numerous ergonomics assessment methods available for assessing safety, comfort, and performance of human-product interactions, there is a lack of comprehensive and widely available computational human-centered design framework that brings human factors principles into engineeringdesign. In existing human-centered design approaches, computational assessment of human-product interaction is not explicitly considered as part of the early design phase, but rather it is addressed downstream in the design process through traditional human factors engineering strategies, often, includes physical prototyping and usability studies with extensive human-subject data collection. We hypothesize that digitalhumanmodeling can be utilized not only as an ergonomics evaluation tool but also as an engineeringdesign methodology to embrace form and function during the early phases of the development. The digitalhumanmodeling approach has the potential to be a merger between the form and functionality aspects of product design by focusing on human needs, abilities, and limitations. This paper introduces a novel human-in-the-loop methodology which injects human factors engineering principles via digitalhumanmodeling into a computational design environment to assess the safety and performance of human-product interactions early in design.

Prototyping is a crucial aspect of the product design and development process. Successful development and deployment of products hinge on building correct prototypes. However, current prototyping frameworks often do not provide specific prototyping guidelines that are practical and readily applicable and do not consider human Factors engineering (HFE) design guidelines thoroughly. This paper presents a novel prototyping framework that integrates prototyping and HFE guidelines to address the research gap in the prototyping literature. The prototyping framework presents a database in the form of a graphical user interface (GUI), which contains userform data entry. The GUI userform helps the designer to develop prototyping strategies based on the prototyping best practices and HFE principles. Further, the GUI userform suggests tools and technologies that can be used to fabricate the prototype. Thus, the framework helps designers plan prototyping activities and reduces the reliance on intuition when fabricating prototypes. This paper also presents a preliminary validation study that focuses on exploring whether there is a statistical difference between the intervention and control group in developing prototyping strategies for various prototyping problems. The intervention and control group are tested using twelve prototyping problems, and the Prototyping Success score is measured for each group. An independent sample t-test is performed. From the statistical analysis, it can be inferred that the participants who use the prototyping framework produce mean Prototyping Success scores that are higher than that of the control group.
