In line with the emerging Industry 5.0 paradigm's human-centricity characteristic, manual assembly has long been an indispensable element of small-batch and customized products. However, the complex assembly information brings a huge cognition burden for the worker, which restricts the development of the human-centric assembly. To take advantage of the valuable model-based definition (MBD) information in the intelligent manufacturing environment for cognition assistance, an MBD-enabled digital twin modeling method is studied. Firstly, the MBD information is divided into five layers to describe the information according to the assembly process. Based on the assembly layer information of the MBD model, an MBD-digital twin (MBD-DT) model framework is established to illustrate the connection between the MBD model and the digital twin assembly. The MBD-DT modeling problem is solved by an optimization method for assembly model mapping. Finally, the cognition needs in the manual assembly process are analyzed, and the cognition assistance method using the MBD-DT model is discussed. The research of this paper can be applied to digital manufacturing enterprises, extending MBD resources from the design end to the on-site assembly end, providing real-time assistance for manual assembly, and achieving sustainability in human-centric smart assembly, which meets the core value of Industry 5.0. © 2023 IEEE.

In the traditional exhibition, it is limited by the space of the venue and the scarcity of precious objects. With the help of 3D scanning technology and mixed reality technology, various restrictions can be reduced to see more exhibits. With the increasing adoption of the digital Twin concept in the construction industry in the operations and maintenance phase, researchers and practitioners are increasingly seeking suitable technological solutions for the design and construction phases. While it is widely accepted that the required platforms hosting the digital twin must be cloud-based to fulfill the requirements of ubiquitous accessibility and centralized consistency, questions regarding the need for data schema remain. Some academics argue that a structure-free organization of data is suitable for realizing digital twins and the data streams from and to the respective platform. Hands-on experience in the BIM2TWIN project supports a counter argument, i.e., that structure-free data is insufficient for most use cases around AEC digital Twins. The sheer information complexity of construction projects requires well-defined data structures enabling unambiguous and error-less interpretation. This becomes apparent when reflecting on the well-established concept of the data-information-knowledge pyramid describing that raw data must be processed into understandable and meaningful high-level information for human decision makers, subsequently providing the basis for cross-project domain knowledge. Based on this observation, we highlight that object-oriented modeling is a widely recognized information modeling technique that facilitates the structuring of complex domain information. We compare it with ontology-based model concepts that provide a similar, yet more abstract means for information modeling. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Measurement of the strength of materials and calculation of applied and residual stress are fundamental to mechanical engineering design and the continuous improvement of mechanical systems and processes. This paper uses these fundamental principles to establish an enhanced engineering framework and workflow for drill bit design, application, and drilling process improvements. It also highlights improvements in modeling and experimental data collection that are needed to continue to improve the drilling process. Transient rock-cutting models are used to calculate the contact stress on the face of polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) cutters on drill bits. This is applied to finite element models (FEM) of the cutters to calculate the maximum principal stresses. This process can be used to study the effects of bit profile, blade count, and cutter density on the maximum principal stress while drilling at different penetration per revolution (PPR) in various formation hardnesses. These stresses are compared with a forensics study to find instances of tangential overload-induced fractures to determine the maximum PPR a given PDC bit design can withstand for a given rock strength and application. When drilling homogeneous or interbedded formations, it is necessary to control the PDC cutter stress below its structural limit. One method to do this is to create roadmaps of the acceptable parameters (particularly PPR) to reduce unwanted tool failures and trips. Roadmap creation is often experimental and fine-tuned with field development. With the outlined workflow, digital data from offset wells and forensics observations can be used to calculate stress for specific designs and applications. Along with estimations of a particular cutter's tangentially loaded structural integrity, this can be used to create much more accurate roadmaps of the drilling system's capabilities. As intelligent vehicle technologies advance, autonomous service applications like retail vehicles are disrupting traditional service modes. However, effectively coordinating these emerging technologies in service systems design and optimization faces challenges due to unpredictable customer behaviors and demands. This paper explores the potential of parallel service theories to address the complexity of blending automation and human factors. We present a case study applying a parallel service approach to optimize an autonomous retail vehicle service system. By implementing a human-in-the-loop strategy, we focus on modeling customer preference to guide vehicle routing. Simulation experiments demonstrate improved delivery times compared to a basic nearest-neighbor policy. Despite limitations like simplified customer models, our preliminary results suggest parallel services hold promise for managing future hybrid human-machine service systems. © 2023 IEEE.

This article has the enterprise marketing behavior of a variety of factors for a detailed analysis. The database technology and intelligent multi-agent intelligent marketing model are organically integrated, trying to build a set of intelligent marketing strategy system suitable for enterprises. This paper proposes a multi-level application model based on J2EE platform. According to the design requirements of the system, the explicit structural relationship between the presentation layer, the middle layer and the bottom data layer is designed. The business logic of the program is separated from the user interface, giving the user a simple and convenient interface, while not affecting the normal use of the customer. This project intends to study the user modeling method for personalized marketing based on deep neural networks. Through PGBN-based deep neural network and Gibbs up-down sampling technology, this paper establishes and train users' images and interests and other information to achieve the extraction of users' interests and hobbies. This method can better obtain more user attribute information, which is of great help to achieve accurate marketing. © 2024 IEEE.

Effective manpower planning is crucial for any organization, including universities, as it directly influences performance, productivity, and overall success. Inefficient recruitment processes can lead to increased costs, higher turnover rates, and suboptimal utilization of human resources, negatively impacting the institution's ability to achieve its goals and maintain a competitive advantage. The objective of this study is to develop a comprehensive digital solution to streamline and enhance recruitment and manpower planning processes, replacing traditional manual methods. This paper presents the Recruitment and Manpower Planning System, an innovative web-based platform designed using Extreme Programming (XP) methodologies. The system integrates modern programming tools such as Visual Studio Code, Laragon, Laravel 9, and MySQL, and utilizes Unified Modelling Language (UML) for precise system design. A mixed-methods approach, incorporating quantitative data from structured questionnaires administered to 500 users, informed the system's design. Data analysis indicates a 40% reduction in recruitment time, a 35% increase in successful job placements, and a 90% user satisfaction rate. Rigorous testing phases ensured system accuracy and quality. This digital solution not only optimizes recruitment processes but also provides a robust prototype for future advancements in manpower planning systems. © 2024 IEEE.

In an era where interconnectedness and relationality are integral to technology development and innovation, local communal philosophies and approaches have become important in developing effective and inclusive participatory design practices. While Ubuntu, a popular communal philosophy originating in Southern Africa, has been commonly referenced as an ideal approach in various domains, there is a lack of understanding of how Ubuntu principles can be adopted in a practical way during participatory design (PD) projects within the field of human Computer Interaction. This workshop aims to explore the practical adoption of Ubuntu principles in HCI practice, focusing on community-driven methodologies in PD. Through mapping communal Ubuntu practices, including community-informed decision-making, ethical action, care practices, and co-design methodologies, the workshop seeks to bridge the gap between theory and action. Acting out is a representative experiential approach that is often used in participatory design. The use of enactment approaches to speculate on the future of work is driven by fast-paced implementation of emerging digital technologies. The enactment approaches using virtual reality (VR) attract attention for this purpose;however, there are limited studies looking into the advantages and drawbacks through the comparison among different enactment approaches. To address this research gap, this study conducts empirical comparative analysis of enactment approaches using two comparison axes: design environments (real/virtual) and perspectives in participation (first-/third-person view). The qualitative analysis of two workshops exploring future workstyles by using a prototype VR application, was conducted to investigate the advantages and drawbacks of each enactment approach. Our preliminary findings identified the fidelity of VR, and cultural and personal factors of participants as influential factors in enactment approach selection. © 2024 Owner/Author.
