Recently, 3D body shape information is widely effective in various applications and markets such as apparel industry or health management. However, existing techniques to obtain 3D body shape have been highly expensive and complex, or not performed modeling despite required anatomical information. We propose a simple system for obtaining 3D body shape using only a few photos captured by users themselves and modeling with various anatomical information. © 2012 IEEE.

The segmentation of 3D human body is the key technology for digital clothing, digital body measurement, computer animation and so on, but there are some shortcomings. So the segmentation of 3D body based on point cloud data is studied, and the method that the entire body model is divided into six parts is proposed in this paper. In the proposed method, some techniques such as slice, curve fitting and other mathematical tools are used to segment 3D human body according to the surface feature points. Finally, experimental results show that the proposed method can improve the accuracy of segmentation.

Frontier is a framework for a highly adaptable, stably reconfigurable, web-accessible intelligent decision engine developed to a) optimize the design of complex (particularly multi-asset or fractionated) systems, as well as b) simulate and operate systems distributed spatially and temporally in response to evolving needs and environments in support of the DARPA Tactical Technology Office (TTO) System F6 (Future, Fast, Flexible, Fractionated, Free-Flying) program. Innovatively and uniquely, Frontier is capable of absorbing and utilizing lessons learned and thus evolving from tool to tool user with tools via an adaptable framework utilizing an Intelligent Decision Engine (IDE) in a Web Support Environment (WSE). The IDE is based on a psychologically stable, trainable learning interface with an evolving Synthetic Neural System (SNS) consisting of Neural Basis Functions (NBFs) for the human user (via the Stakeholder Graphical User Interface (GUI)) and tool support (via the modeling Support Environment (MSE)) interfaces. A specially designed stability algorithm balances rule- and choice-driven inputs originating from either side, facilitating the design evaluation and selection process. A key feature in the development of this architecture is the use of human user and ultimately system generated Interface Control Documents (ICD's) to define the interconnections between the Frontier modules as well as components/systems being simulated. In the case of the core IDE, the ICD's provide the starting pathway for the embryonic development of the synthetic neural system. © 2012 by Pamela E. Clark. In this paper, a self-calibration control scheme is proposed to improve the current share among each phase of multiphase DC-DC converters. The proposed control scheme is based upon look-up table method to automatically tune the pre-stored parameters for compensated in output inductance. Additionally, the digital voltage mode control and current loop with DCR (Direct Current Resistance) sensing method is implemented. As a result, the proposed scheme provides a low cost solution with ease implementation due to it is fully design by digital control technique without any external phase compensation element. The proposed scheme is verified on 12 V input with 1.2 V output, 60 A, 3-phases interleaving DC-DC buck converter and the simulation and experimental results are presented to demonstrate the theoretical analysis.

Advanced Distribution Automation (ADA) has become a topic of considerable interest in the electric power industry; moreover, for the development of ADA it is necessary to build new methodologies and computational tools to support the distribution networks (DN) simulation with Real Time Hardware in the Loop (RT-HIL) techniques, reducing the design and testing times at low cost. OpenDSS is a free powerful software platform to simulate DN including the models for distributed generation; the RT-HIL systems improve the OpenDSS capabilities, interfacing the data delivered for this platform using analog and digital signals in Real Time (RT). This way, the design engineer and external hardware can interact with the DN like in the real scenario switching and analyzing the response of the system. As result, in this paper the Real time analytical simulation of the IEEE 13 Nodes system is presented; this with the aim of evaluating the performance of the developed tool. All the developments were made using National Instruments Real Time hardware architectures, OpenDSS software and the LabVIEW® RT software. Finally, the different possibilities with the developed tool and the future developments are presented.

Dilemma in understanding how user react towards systems and how systems can be more usable for user is a great concern among researchers in computer science. Thus, this study is aiming to come out with a cognitive design checklist by analyzing existing design principles, human cognitive models and situation awareness model. Secondly is to discover the most dominant cognitive design elements and to identify whether these cognitive design elements has been applied in the current system design. Least dominant design elements also has been discussed as to make sure that cognitive design elements should be integrated into system design in order to increase the ease of use of a particular system. For that, the cognitive design checklist will be used in order to evaluate five technical systems design via online. Three experts involved in this study and most of the experts have more than five years experiences in computer science and engineering field.

The application of digital technologies in power systems has resulted in an evolutionary replacement of electromechanical devices with numerical ones featuring internal digital processors with communication capabilities. A substation automation system (SAS) deploys substation operation functions, including control, protection, monitoring, and measuring. Ethernet technology and local area networks (LANs) make it possible to design substation communication architectures with greater reliability, availability, speed, and cost savings than conventional hard-wired systems. This paper proposes a new method to describe topologies of the SAS as an interconnected network. The concept of data conduction is introduced in this paper, and the advanced connectivity approach is implemented in the form of a linear programming optimization problem for all intelligent electronic devices (IEDs). All SAS values and specifications are available through several data structures, facilitating a quantitative reliability evaluation of the SAS. Two simple case studies show the applicability of this model.

This paper introduces a cognitive decision architecture (CDA) which seeks to support a wide range of decision making systems. The architecture is consisted of three layers: cognitive layer (CL), individual decision layer (IDL) and group decision layer (GDL). We utilize a typical symbolic cognitive architecture-Soar as the underlying infrastructure of CDA. Decision table of rough set theory is used to describe the knowledge base of individual decider. A “voting” mechanism which is drawn from the decision experience of human society is designed at the group decision. Related experiments show that CDA is appropriate for designing large and complex decision systems.

The rapid evolution of technologies and interaction devices has enabled the emergence of interactive systems merging real and virtual worlds. These systems are characterized by new interaction forms. They involve new constraints that must be considered in the development process. This paper presents a set of elements and concepts to design augmented reality systems. The aim is to integrate human-computer interaction practices in the software engineering domain. Our works are focused on the initial phase of development, into which we have introduced a new concept: interactional space. The aim is to take into account the specificity of augmented reality in the information system design. Thus, new relations are established between business and interactional spaces. Models and approaches are developed to highlight the interaction objects in the development process. A case study is presented in order to validate our contributions. We develop an interactive tabletop intended to manage digital documents for maintenance assistance in industrial context.
