Highway slope is an important part in the design and construction of highway. Especially in the complex geological condition area, road slope disasters occur frequently. So the stability of road slope is very essential to the safe traffic and the safety of human lives and their properties along the road. After the analysis of the existing methods of deformation measurement to physical model of highway slope, this paper introduces the theory and application of digital close range photogrammetry in deformation measurement of highway slope models. An ordinary digital SLR camera is employed and multi-intersection photography is used to take images of slope model in the project. The photogrammetric bundle adjustment is applied to compute 3D coordinates of artificial deformation monitoring target points on the surface of slope model. Then the cumulative displacement of each deformation monitoring target point is calculated based on their object coordinates in order to provide underlying data for the design of road slope and analysis of rock and soil mechanics.

design and development for computer game have been started more than four decades ago with first computer game production that named Spacewar. At that time, such game only used to throw single-handedly. However, nowadays, digital game competition can be shared individual leisure with routine activity. Computer game suitability influenced a lot by computer design itself. A study related to basic design to computer game development is getting less response. This is because it needs perusal on social aspect, emotion and association with human life. This working paper tries to suggest on User Centered Games design that used in designing computer game such as Role Playing Games genre. At the same time, an early exploratory study related to computer game designs that wish to be produced will also be explained in this paper.

It is very challenging issue to utilize human-being's behaviors or reactions as a way of interacting to virtual world. Indoor baseball simulation system is one of good candidates to combine real equipment and actions with virtual contents. As one of experimental approach to break a barrier between virtual game space and human-being's real behavior, we mapped out an experiment on seamless gaming between 3D virtual game space and human-being's real behavioral space, where real balls and bats are augmented with online baseball contents through computer vision and sensor technologies. The Simulation Engine, the key part of our proposal, consists of 6 components: Pitch Recognizer, Toss Controller, Swing Detector, Vehicle Recognizer, Vehicle Tracker and Trajectory Calculator. This approach, utilizing human-being's behaviors as input event, will open the new field of digital interfaces.

In this paper, fusion of Common Spatial Pattern (CSP) analysis derived features and Time-Domain Parameters (TDP) is investigated for two-class motion imagery classification: left hand movement and right hand movement imagery. This fusion method is aiming at improving the performance of Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) systems in translating human thoughts into command to control certain robots, e.g. rehabilitation robots. In the BCI system applied in this paper, a human-Friendly Interactive Bear Robot is implemented, whose bear-like appearance and interactive actions can alleviate the frustration and anxiety on the part of the user in the experiment. Moreover, off-line experiments are conducted to demonstrate the efficiency of the fusion method using both well-known open-source data and data obtained by the BCI system mentioned before.

A slicing algorithm has been developed for directly slicing a CAD (Computer Aided design) model as RP layers, and based on them closed NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline) mathematical curves are introduced to represent the contour of each sliced layer. A tool-path algorithm has been then developed to generate mixed tool-paths with contour offset tool-paths for the boundary of a sliced layer, and zigzag tool-paths for the internal area of the layer. In addition, optimization strategies has been developed to identify the best build degree of zigzag tool-path with the minimum build time and to generate adaptive speeds for contour tool-paths for further reducing the build time. In the end, a human ear model has been used to demonstrate the performance of this research in terms of processing efficiency and surface accuracy.

In the Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN), the wireless channel is complex and distinctive because of the irregular shape of human body. The channel modeling methods and results are different from those in traditional narrow-band communication environments. In this paper, we present channel models for WBAN in Ultra wide band (UWB) frequency range 3-9 GHz. The channels are modeled statistically and the channel model parameters are derived from actual measured data in an office environment. An interesting common result is that different shape people have significantly differences in multipath parameters. Taking into account the characteristics of body shape, we provide a new classified small-scale channel model which has three kind of channel models: sparse, medium and dense multipath channel models. These models can be applied to different scenarios and improve the system design. We evaluated these models by delays and average number of multipaths with the measured data. Results prove the effectiveness of our models.

This article adopts methods of CAD, manufacture modeling and building NURBS digital human analysis model to research the characteristics and technology development trend of digital human model as well as the appliance of CAD modeling technique in medicine. It revealed 3D digital analysis human model had been provided with super-realist characteristic which pursues and embodies real specimen of human body, technology ability of virtual reality and technology extensibility which needs profound professional design. The results indicate that crossed appliance of CAD in anatomic medicine can exactly, efficiently and properly satisfy customization desire of patient whose personality characteristic is marked. ©2010 IEEE.

With the combination of the industrial design activity and digital technique, a digital Industrial design System is established, with which digital product design evaluation and product digital simulation technologies are integrated into. The human-machine analysis and engineering analysis methods are imported when the modeling results have been finished to give the designer the means to make the design results more reasonable. The system framework and architecture of the digital industrial design system are presented. The application of the digital industrial design system for the air nailer design make the improvement of the means of the air nailer industrial design. With which, the layout design of the air nailer design is ameliorated with the former design instances and the product functional requirements. The former design and color design goes along with the database system. The reasonableness of the design on the various stages is acquired together with the use of digital simulation means. For the modeling result of the air nailer's body will be affecting the comprehensive performance such as the product nailing force, nailing efficiency and product strength directly, the stress of the body of the air nailer and the air flow characteristic within the cylinder are analyzed in order to improve the modeling design result. The digital industrial design system platform of the air nailer design is developed under the support of the Zhejiang province momentous science and technology project and the system is of good effect for the air nailer design. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper reports on experience with modifications to National University's "Wireless engineering Software" and "Radio Systems modeling" courses to enable students to gain experience in wireless communications engineering through designing, building and then using simulation games for network design and radio design. Game design has been incorporated as a primary learning tool into these courses in the Master of Science in Wireless Communications degree program. Laboratory experiments and simulations are already used in some engineering curricula. The introduction of interactive simulation games in virtual environments goes a step further. The games simulate real world engineering dynamics and improve retention of complex concepts. Furthermore, the depth of learning increases as the students design and build the games, instead of just playing them. The processes and principles of game design have been adapted from National University's School of Media and Communications (SOMC). SOMC currently uses this approach to successfully teach game design in its digital entertainment and interactive arts program, with the core objective of creating "playcentric" video games. To expand this process to engineering courses, faculty from SOMC and the School of engineering and Technology (SOET), collaborated to combine engineering processes with game design techniques to teach interactive games for designing a cellular communications network and digital radio design to engineering students. Game rules, built by the students, must incorporate principles of mathematics, physics, and engineering, including the dynamics of wave propagation, binary logic, and the architecture of wireless systems. Students become game designers as they create original games including content from the STEM (Science, Technology, engineering and Math) curriculum. Virtual human simulation integrated into virtual reality applications is mainly used for virtual representation of the user in virtual environment or for interactions between the user and the virtual avatar for cognitive tasks. In this paper, in order to prevent musculoskeletal disorders, the integration of virtual human simulation and VR application is presented to facilitate physical ergonomic evaluation, especially for physical fatigue evaluation of a given population. Immersive working environments are created to avoid expensive physical mock-up in conventional evaluation methods. Peripheral motion capture systems are used to capture natural movements and then to simulate the physical operations in virtual human simulation. Physical aspects of human's movement are then analyzed to determine the effort level of each key joint using inverse kinematics. The physical fatigue level of each joint is further analyzed by integrating a fatigue and recovery model on the basis of physical task parameters. All the process has been realized based on VRHIT platform and a case study is presented to demonstrate the function of the physical fatigue for a given population and its usefulness for worker selection.
