Data-driven research in Additive Manufacturing (AM) has gained significant success in recent years. This has led to a plethora of scientific literature to emerge. The knowledge in these works consists of AM and Artificial Intelligence (AI) contexts that haven’t been mined and formalized in an integrated way. It requires substantial effort and time to extract scientific information from these works. AM domain experts have contributed over two dozen review papers to summarize these works. However, information specific to AM and AI contexts still requires manual effort to extract. The recent success of foundation models such as BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations for Transformers) or GPT (Generative Pretrained Transformers) on textual data has opened the possibility of expediting scientific information extraction. We propose a framework that enables collaboration between AM and AI experts to continuously extract scientific information from data-driven AM literature. A demonstration tool is implemented based on the proposed framework and a case study is conducted to extract information relevant to the datasets, modeling, sensing, and AM system categories. We show the ability of LLMs (Large Language Models) to expedite the extraction of relevant information from data-driven AM literature. In the future, the framework can be used to extract information from the broader design and manufacturing literature in the engineering discipline. © 2024 by ASME.

Numerous computational strategies were introduced in the past decades to integrate human aspects into the design process;perhaps, none provided a broader product design capacity equal to digital human modeling (DHM) research. The popularity of DHM usage in product development is increasing, and many companies take advantage of DHM in their virtual prototyping studies. However, DHM is usually interpreted as a post-conceptualization check gate methodology and is often applied to correct ergonomics assumptions. Although this approach provides some insight into product performance, designers often miss more widespread opportunities in terms of utilizing DHM as an early design stage design tool. This research presents our ongoing efforts in developing DHM-based early design computational human Factors engineering (HFE) support tools. We engage this reflection by summarizing two early design frameworks emerging from our recent work: (1) Prototyping Toolbox and (2) human Error and Functional Failure Reasoning (HEFFR). These frameworks are originated from the digital human-in-the-loop (DHIL) methodology. DHIL proposes a simulation-based computational design methodology that builds a bridge between existing Computer-Aided engineering (CAE) software packages and computational HFE tools to address safety, comfort, and performance-related issues early in design. Our primary focus in this paper is to demonstrate the frameworks emerging from our recent D-HIL research to promote better early design decision-making for human-centered product design.

Protective Lead aprons as a radiation protection instrument for imaging procedures are widely spread by medical professionals. This paper investigated the lead apron's impact on practitioners' bodies and assessed the results. digital human modeling (DHM) was utilized to assess the risk of musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) associated with various varieties of aprons, gender, weight, and practitioner height. The objective of this paper was to mitigate the side effects of wearing a lead apron. Jack software was used to simulate two scenarios: one in which a manikin wore an apron and another in which he did not. Two performance measures, Rapid upper limb assessment (RULA) and Lower Back Analysis (LBA), were utilized. Following the identification of factors and responses, the design of Experiment (DOE) was implemented to determine the significant factors. Several solutions were then evaluated and compared. In the end, the optimal solution was using Zero Gravity aprons as it has the lowest RULA and LBA scores. © 2023 Computers and Industrial engineering. All rights reserved.

The entry of a new generation known as Generation Z or Gen-Z into the labor force created substantial implications for corporate operations, communication, and problem resolution within organizations. These Gen-Zs were raised in a digital age where social media, smartphones, live streaming, and the internet were all quite commonplace. Through working with their teams, their unique skills, values, and perspectives emerge. This study evaluated the significant variables influencing the work behaviors of Filipino Gen-Z employees in the Philippines. A total of 400 responses from currently employed Filipino Gen-Zs in the manufacturing and service industry sectors were collected using the purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with higher-order construct analysis. The findings showed how crucial it is to understand the variables influencing Gen-Z behavior and to get the Philippine labor market ready for the influx of young, skilled workers. The results demonstrate that the workplace behavior of Gen-Zs is greatly influenced by diversity, teamwork, individualism, work-life balance, leadership, organizational culture, career growth, and training. Similarly, good behavior at work has a favorable impact on general job satisfaction, employees' productivity, and the company's financial performance. The study can help managers and human resource specialists design the hiring and retention procedures of the business to promote positive workplace behaviors, particularly among the younger workforce. © 2024 Computers and Industrial engineering. modeling and simulation of the marine engine system is a highly complex system that involves many components such as cabin equipment, marine engineers, navigators, and shipping companies. In the digital simulation of the marine engine system, human factors should be considered to reflect the cognitive processes, behavioral patterns, and experience level of the marine engineers to reproduce the situation of a real marine engine management. In this paper, we analyze the cognition and behavior of the marine engineer and propose an intelligent agent model to support the analysis of engine management. The agent model can be used for the design optimization of the digital simulation system of the turbine management system by considering the influence of the marine engineer behavior. © 2023, Harbin engineering University.

In supporting healthcare, modeling the human vessels is becoming particularly important due to the potential use of nanosensors in the blood flow. It results in especially important the modeling of pressure and flows along vessels to later predict the dynamic of flowing nanosensors. Supporting this intention, we conceive a digital simulator of the human arteries in this work. Extending widely accepted designs with analog circuits, we provide a low complex design in Simulink/Matlab and suitable to implement in field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology. The findings exhibit a good correspondence of the digital to the original analog design, and the resulted pressure curves behave accordingly to the human standard behavior. © VDE VERLAG GMBH · Berlin · Offenbach.

The development of information and communication technology in the twenty-first century has made it possible for information to quickly cross the boundaries of globalization. However, humanitarian foundation that work in the areas of education, treatment, job training, workplaces, and nursing homes for individuals with disabilities still do not employ information system technology extensively. The data collection system is still inefficient, resulting documents are easily damaged or lost. This study uses data collection methods with questionnaires and interviews with the number of samples determined using the Cochran formula. System Development Life Cycle Methodology was used to develop the application. The system is designed based on Object-oriented Analysis and design (OOAD) methods with the Unified modeling Language (UML) notation. The conclusion from the simple linear regression hypothesis test is that there is an influence between human Resource Management on Employee Performance. By designing an adequate Personnel Management Information System to support human resource management, it can improve employee performance. © 2023 IEEE.

In the current digital dispensation, human-Computer Interaction (HCI) fronts itself as key to the user experiences across all the other technological platforms. human-Computer Interaction will continue rising to the fore with rapid advancements experienced in technology and demand for seamless interactions between man and machine growing. Adaptive interfaces have been designed to meet the manifold demands and preferences of users, with the sole aim of improving the overall user experience. This paper thus goes further to try and understand the importance of adaptive interfaces within the domain of HCI toward improving user experience. How do adaptive interfaces optimally change their behavior with user inputs, context, and other determining factors to optimize a user's interaction with the system. It synthesizes prior knowledge and extracts main principles and methodologies of adaptive interface design from an extensive literature review. The basic ideas of adaptive interfaces and their roles in HCI are described. The theory could be, in return, a guide for the designers and developers for the efficient use of the adaptive techniques to develop interfaces more in accordance with users. It further explores several adaptive approaches based on advanced context-awareness, user modeling, and machine learning algorithms, and their implication on HCI. It further outlines various case studies and examples in their respective application domains, from web browsing to mobile applications and assistive technology, showing adaptive interfaces in use. © 2024 IEEE.

digital clothing is a digital clothing model corresponding to the clothing in the real physical world, which makes the clothing image in the real physical world match and map with the clothing image in the digital virtual reality. Through the creation of highly similar clothing model;the digital Archaeology Research on clothing and the digital display and digital dissemination of clothing are realized This paper selects the important unearthed clothing materials of women's clothing in the southern part of the Yangtze River in the Yuan Dynasty. The material objects of clothing unearthed at the Qianyu Tomb in Wuxi, Jiangsu, and Cao Tomb of Zhang Shicheng, Suzhou, are used as objects for digital clothing reconstruction. Through computer interactive reverse engineering experiments, the digital clothing of women in the Southern part of the Yuan Dynasty is reconstructed The hanging and wearability of digital clothing are tested by software, and an interactive interface of small programs for digital clothing display is designed Experiments show that the digitally reconstructed clothing and unearthed clothing objects have a high similarity, and the reconstructed digital clothing through digital display and digital clothing platform applet, to achieve the dissemination of clothing cultural information and the sharing of clothing information resources, to study the value of digital protection and inheritance of ancient clothing.
