Current methods of analysis and dynamic simulation of business processes frequently face the objects that contain hundreds and even thousands of elements. Industrial and business processes can be defined as multi-agent resource conversion processes. simulation of such objects constantly requires more and more computational resources and processing time. Due to this an important problem emerges - a problem of detection and application of new approaches to analysis and improvement of multiagent models with business process re-engineering based on convolution/de-convolution procedures.

The energy production optimization of a fleet of power plants involves the solution of a mixed integer problem. Usually this is done by linearization of the continuous and non-linear parts of the problem and subsequent application of a Simplex-type algorithm. Alternatively, heuristic "biomimetic" optimization methods can be used which can also handle nonlinearity. As an example we are proposing an approach to first model power plant blocks with fast Neural Networks and then optimize the operation of multi-block power plants over a period of time using Simulated Annealing and Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm.

In order to resolve the problems resulting from various combinations of equipment selection, numerous uncertainties of future demands and the development process, a planning method based on the Markowitz model is proposed. First a qualitative analysis is performed and models of a combination planning method are produced, then a Markowitz model of the development plan of system-of-systems under uncertainty is built and solved by adopting a searching algorithm based on vector operation. Finally the effectiveness of the method is checked by scouting the development planning examples of the early warning surveillance system.

Nowadays, public transportation has become an essential area which affects our quality of life. Therefore, the design of new roads, new vehicles or new stations is a complicated process that requires a preliminary study to analyze its impact. This paper shows the algorithm of a simulation tool that allows the definition of transport routes, in regular and on-demand transportation systems. The resulting application allows adjustment and modification of routes, depending on passenger demand. All this is achieved through the use of a memetic algorithm that combines a genetic algorithm and tabu search. The result of the work done is a simulation tool and a memetic algorithm used for solving a particular instance of the Dynamic TSP.

Early Onset Scoliosis (EOS) is a spinal deformity which tends to increase during growth. Surgical correction of scoliosis reduces deformation and improves overall function and aesthetics. A Finite Element Model (FEM) of a scoliotic spine was created and enhanced to simulate growth. A single growing rod was attached to the FEM, and the forces on the rod were measured during adjustment periods (for correction of the spinal deformity) and during growth periods. For this study, a one year period was simulated with a rod adjustment at six months. The data obtained using the model compared favorably with patient data reported in the literature.

This paper reports the findings of using multi-agent based simulation model to evaluate the sawmill yard operations within a large privately owned sawmill in Sweden, Bergkvist Insjön AB in the current case. Conventional working routines within sawmill yard threaten the overall efficiency and thereby limit the profit margin of sawmill. Deploying dynamic work routines within the sawmill yard is not readily feasible in real time, so discrete event simulation model has been investigated to be able to report optimal work order depending on the situations. Preliminary investigations indicate that the results achieved by simulation model are promising. It is expected that the results achieved in the current case will support Bergkvist-Insjön AB in making optimal decisions by deploying efficient work order in sawmill yard.

In recent years companies have been looking for effective methods to control their costs and make fast and correct decisions in a pressured, competitive, and rapidly changing market environment. In this context the aim of the present paper it to explain the results of a simulation study realized at an electromechanics company for the optimization and planning of a new production line of a particular relay. The characteristics required by the management for this new line of production were definitely binding. In order to realize such an ambitious project, a committee has been constituted, called BUA (Business Unit Automation), which has made it possible to retrieve information about lines already started up in the group in other countries in the world. On the basis of these directions, a solution for a production line has been hypothesized. A simulation model has been made of such line. Once a general solution has been determined, we have tried to optimize, through a suitable dimensioning of the buffers, the different parameters characterizing the production process through simulation techniques.

Through analyzing the theoretical basis and approach features of system-of-systems and cloud computing technology, the designing infrastructure and application flow of the meta-synthetic environment for equipment system-of-systems demonstration have been given with a combination of construction and application requirements of equipment system-of-systems centered on information. When designing the meta-synthetic environment for equipment system-of-systems demonstration, we adopted the way of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and put forward a model registration mechanism. By establishing the model registration principle, we designed and generated the model registration system, realized the model registration and management of the meta-synthetic environment to solve the quantification and evaluation issue and realized Design on Demand and Service on Demand of evaluation of the equipment system-of-systems demonstration meta-synthetic environment.
