modelling a whole vehicle-track-foundation-soil system is complex and usually the problem is split into several subdomains for predicting railway-induced ground vibrations. In this way, a modelling approach (multibody simulation, finite element analysis) dedicated to each subdomain can be adopted without any numerical constraint. A limitation however occurs regarding the interaction between each subsystem which is thus neglected. For some cases, the whole modelling does not allow an accurate simulation. A solution consists on co-simulation that can be applied to re-couple the decoupled model during the time integration process. The purpose of this paper is to analyse various techniques of co-simulation by considering theoretically a monolithic model, split at different location. A TCP/IP client/server binding is used for the data transfer during the numerical integration. An application case is then presented using two different software packages: EasyDyn, an in-house multibody simulation software, for the vehicle subsystem and ABAQUS, a commercial finite element software, for the soil subsystem.

Mechatronics, as an interdisciplinary scientific branch, offers innovative solutions to the complex challenges faced by air defence systems. This article explores the key mechatronics principles applied in the development and optimisation of air defence technologies, including sensor integration, real-time data processing, automated targeting, and intelligent control systems. By leveraging these principles, modern air defence systems achieve superior accuracy in threat detection, tracking, and interception, thereby improving overall defensive capabilities. The synergy between mechatronics and air defence not only enhances operational effectiveness but also reduces response times and increases technical reliability. This comprehensive paper underscores the transformative impact of mechatronics on air defence, highlighting case studies and real-world applications that demonstrate its critical role in ensuring national security in an era of rapidly evolving aerial threats. The paper provides a general overview of SBAD and mechatronics applications and focuses in more detail on the example of missile guidance using the Track via Missile principle and proportional guidance method.

This paper presents the modelling enhancements of the multizone model of TRNSYS and its GUI TRNLizard for the dynamic evaluation of the thermal behaviour of outdoor urban spaces. The developed approaches for detailed radiation modelling based on surface discretization and raytracing in 3-dimensional space extended the capabilities of the thermal building model to consider interior and exterior vegetation volumes. For the implementation special care was taken to enable both, the application of empirical correlations/assumptions for a simplified and fast modelling as well as the integration/coupling to detailed simulation results from other domains such as vegetation models and CFD. The validation showed that the improvements were successfully integrated. A comparison with measured data is still pending. The urban space model has been applied to the Bordeauxplatz in Munich. The case study showed that dynamic annual simulation results like the frequency distribution of comfort conditions provide very useful information for urban planning.

Heat pump internal control strategies are frequently neglected, while the impact remains uncertain. This paper studies the short- and long-term effects of those strategies via simulation of a water- to-water heat pump. Neglecting these strategies caused non-negligible effects and profile modification. The electrical heat pump power was compared between simplified models and more detailed models that are able to accurately represent the internal strategies. It was shown that for 42 - 86 % of the year, the electrical heat pump power of the simplified models was within +/- 10 % of the most detailed model. As a second part, a flexible control with a spot tariff was applied to the heat pump. Compared to a classical approach to heat pump modelling with only minimum modulation, results again proved the importance of modelling heat pump internal control strategies.

The hydraulic module of hybrid electric vehicle is used for shifting and clutch driving control of electric drive gearbox of hybrid electric vehicle. The most important part of the hydraulic module is the hydraulic system. First of all, the analysis of the hydraulic module in the hydraulic system schematic, secondly, through theoretical calculation of the pump and valve mathematical model, again, the use of Simulink platform to establish a dynamic simulation model of the hydraulic system, finally, through the simulation of the pump and valve with the working time of the system oil diagram, and dynamic analysis of the system. To achieve the new energy vehicle electric drive gearbox shift and clutch drive control performance judgment.
