In this paper, we introduce a new interconnection network named as biswapped network (BSN) simply, which are built of 2n copies of an n-node basis network. Biswapped-mesh network is a kind of network whose basic network is mesh. In this network model, we develop algorithms to multiply two vectors, a vector and a matrix, and two matrices, and their complexity are analyzed.

This paper introduces a method of formalizing syntax and semantics of UML statecharts with Z. According to this precise semantics, UML statecharts are transformed into FREE (flattened regular expression) state models. Proper testing pre-orders and equivalences are introduced which allow to equate/distinguish systems on the basis of their interaction with the surrounding environment, abstracting from their internal structure. The formal testing framework for UML statecharts is express with Z.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs), which consist of spatially distributed autonomous sensing and computing devices to monitor physical conditions such as temperature and motion. Under a hostile military environment, sensor networks can be easily attacked by malicious nodes and hostile nodes using the natural cooperation of WSNs. In this paper, we introduce the trust mechanism in the human society into WSNs and propose a more overall trust model without a central trust authority, which provides a reliable approach to establish trust for WSNs. The approach combines all kinds of trust values together, including the direct trust and indirect trust value of nodes. The simulation results show that our trust model can efficiently defend against the attacks of the malicious nodes.

The power is the most significant resource in wireless sensor nodes, so energy conservation is the most important factor in designing the protocol for sensor networks. In this paper, we study the problem of energy-efficient collection of the physical information from the target area. The coverage-preserving data gathering (CPDG) problem is to build up a tree, which minimizes the total energy consumption, and preserves the original coverage to ensure the result correctness. This problem can be formalized as 0-1 integer linear programming, and solved by an efficient heuristic algorithm. Furthermore, an improved algorithm is also proposed to balance the energy consumption among all the sensor nodes. The experimental results show that CPDG algorithm can conserve the energy about 30% of PEDAP protocol, which is regarded as one of the most efficient data gathering protocols as we know.

A critical issue in wireless sensor networks is represented by the limited availability of energy within sensor nodes. An effective approach for energy conservation is scheduling sleep intervals for extraneous nodes, while the remaining nodes stay active to provide continuous service. In this paper, we present a topology control algorithm, termed OTC, for sensor networks. It uses two-hops neighborhood information to select a subset of nodes to be active among all nodes in the neighborhood. Each node in the network selects its own set of active neighbors from among its one-hop neighbors. This set is determined such that it covers all two-hops neighbors. OTC is evaluated against two well-known algorithms from the literature, namely Span and GAF through realistic simulations using TOSSIM. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves significant energy savings against others while ensuring a load-balanced network.

Large scale loosely coupled PCs can organize clusters and form the grid computing on sharing each processing power; power of PCs and code migration characterize the performance of distributed systems. This paper describes the performance evaluation of large scale loosely coupled distributed systems. The prototype of the middleware which migrates objects for computing is implemented, and the trade-off of the migration against computing was observed. Based on these experiments, several simulations for large scale loosely coupled PC clusters were performed, and the properties of the PC clusters for object migration are derived. These results will well be applied to design the grid computing systems to continuously maintain the proper performance.

distributed virtual environments tend to become a de facto solution for large-scale networked virtual environments. One of the key issues and problems that need to be handled in the design of a scalable and effective distributed virtual environment system is the partitioning problem, which refers to the efficient assignment of the system's workload to the available resources of the system. This paper presents an object driven partitioning approach based on the partitioning algorithm of Lui & Chan, who proposed a three step technique for balancing the workload among the servers of the distributed Virtual Environment.

In this paper, we provide a new partially blind signature scheme which is based on n-th order characteristic sequences generated by LFSR, and then prove its security in the random oracle model (ROM). Compares with the finite field based schemes, our scheme shows advantages on the computation and storage since the reduced representation of finite field elements by LFSR. It will make those applications more efficient in hardware-limited environments, such as cellular networks, tactical networks and sensor nets.

In this paper a novel energy efficient algorithm based on relevant node selection is proposed to deal with a new kind of approximate query, named node number constraint query, for wireless sensor networks. The query processing algorithm is composed of three parts: relevant node selection algorithm, energy efficient query dissemination and result collection algorithm. According to the user's precision request, our algorithm selects a part of nodes to answer the user's query then sends query and collects result in an energy efficient way. Simulation results show that the query processing algorithm based on relevant node selection can not only guarantee the precision of the result but also save much more energy than other algorithms.

Resource reservation and mutual exclusion are challenging problems in mobile ad-hoc networks (MANET). Due to the dynamic characteristics of nodes in these networks, yet, few algorithms have been proposed. The other problem in these networks is link or node failure due to many reasons (e.g. running out of battery, hardware software crash, getting out of transmission range due to high mobility). Thus fault tolerance for these algorithms is another necessity which hasn't been completely accomplished. In this paper we proposed an algorithm which is completely fault tolerant (covers temporary and permanent faults). It also has the mutual exclusion property for critical resource reservations. The proposed algorithm uses three recovery processes to maintain the stable state for whole system. At the end we have proved the proposed algorithm's Safety and liveness properties to show its integrity.
