A topology set structure is a powerful image segmentation technique, it has advantages over individual pixels due to its intrinsic behavior, retrieval of colony characteristic of related pixels, shape independence, and ease of implementation. In this paper, we present a new method of topology model designed using Barnode, which achieves geometric preservation by collecting the pixels from binary patterns. The Barnodes are divided into several types from which the element features, and its distributions are extracted and concatenated into several enhanced feature links, formed a topology set structure. Several experiments on simulated and real data are provided to demonstrate the performance of the algorithm.

Consistency of DTDs (or Schema) is a rising topic in XML research. In this paper, a sufficient and necessary condition for consistency of XML DTDs and an algorithm with high efficiency for DTDs consistency checking, of which worst time complexity is O(n), are proposed. Moreover, considering that a consistent DTD may have inconsistent sub-structures, notion of absolute consistency of DTDs is formalized. A sufficient and necessary condition for absolute consistency of XML DTDs and an algorithm for checking the absolute consistency of DTDs, of which time complexity is 0(n), are also offered.

This paper proposed a multi-FART neural network for color image segmentation. The network received three transformed color components - hue, value and saturation. Then, using multi-FART network categorical ability, its output will send the categorized values to the decision layer. After combined postprocessing, the right categorization of color vector is output from the last layer. Compared with color watershed algorithm, experiments on color image show promising results.

In this paper, a new graph product, called Edge Graph Product (EGP) is proposed by replacing each edge in the multiplicand graph by a copy of the multiplier graph via two candidate nodes. The edge product, unlike other products already proposed, results in a graph whose number of edges is numerical product of the number of the edges in the multiplicand and multiplier graphs, and the number of vertices is not equal to the numerical product of the number of vertices in the multiplicand and multiplier graphs. After formal definition of the new product, some basic properties of the product operator are studied. We then address Hamiltonian, Eulerian and routing properties of the new product, and we show that some of the recently proposed topologies fall within the family of edge product graphs.

In traditional CPN network and its learning method, the number of neurons in competitive layer is difficult to decide. Too many neurons in the competitive layer will generate "dead neurons", while too few neurons will make the competitive layer unstable. In this paper, an adaptive counter propagation network named ACPN and its approach are proposed, where the number of competitive neurons can be decided adoptively. In ACPN, the neurons in competitive layer are generated dynamically, so each neuron in the competitive layer can do its best in training. Because of the efficiency of neurons in competitive is improved sufficiently, ACPN can work well with the least amount of neurons and realize the required capability of network. The experiment shows that the improved model ACPN runs faster and is more efficient than other CPN networks.

Proxy certificates (PCs) are essential in grid security infrastructure (GSI), but their revocation still remains problematic in grid environments. The mechanisms for normal end entity certificates (EEC) revocation need to be reconsidered or revised for PC revocation in grids. In this paper, we present a new framework that addresses the PC revocation problem based on MyProxy - the online credential repository - in Globus toolkit. The framework has been implemented to prove its feasibility. The implementation is light-weight and has been integrated into the Globus architecture. We consider this as an important contribution to Globus and MyProxy and of significance to users and providers of critical grid services.

Cognitive Radio can achieve dynamic spectrum access by spectrum sensing. The paper proposes a new scheme to share spectrum employing OFDMA-based Cognitive Radio. To show efficiency and fairness, the paper builds an Asymmetric-Nash-Bargain-Solution-Based utility function and implement a new spectrum sharing algorithm based on sensing contribution weighted proportional fairness through two-user bargaining. The simulation results show that the proposed approach is not only to achieve a fair and efficient allocation of spectrum resources but also to help maximizing the spectrum sensing.

A method KFST (Foley-Sammon transform with kernels)is proposed which is based on FST (Foley-Sammon transform) and kernel tricks. The projectors onto the directions derived by KFST can be used for class-specific feature extraction. The algorithm is carried out in a feature space associated with kernel functions, hence it can be used to construct a large class of nonlinear feature extractors. Linear feature extraction in feature space corresponds to nonlinear feature extraction in input space. KFST is proven to correspond to a generalized eigenvalue problem. Lastly, our method is applied to digits and images recognition problems, and the experimental results show that present method is superior to the existing methods in term of space distribution and correct classification rate.

In this paper, we propose a novel concept called "ubiquitous searching", which allows people to organize and search the desired information about the objects in the physical world, navigating from one object to others through their contextual links, just like what we do in the web searching. How to realize such an exciting idea poses many challenges, and a new approach is needed to provide scalable system abstractions and infrastructures. We identify the design principles and propose the framework toward ubiquitous search. The system architecture and the key algorithms for the proposed framework are developed. We also describe a proof-of-concept prototype and a simulation study used to experiment with our framework and algorithms.

Searching in large-scale unstructured peer-to-peer networks is challenging due to the lack of effective hint information to guide queries. In this paper, we propose POP, a parallel, collaborative and Probabilistic search mechanism, in which query messages are viewed as search units to collaborate with each other and aggregate the distributed hints during the search process. A scheme called distributed Bloom filter (DBF) is presented to propagate the hints with a bandwidth-aware manner, in which a node divides the received Bloom filter vector into subvectors and disseminates the fragments to its neighbors according to their bandwidth capacity. The effectiveness of POP is demonstrated through theoretical analysis and extensive simulations.
