Cohesion degree is an important feature in differentiating ambiguous Chinese phrases. At the present time, there are no module in computer-oriented linguistic theories to represent this information and it is represented by additional statistical modules. The Binary Combinatorial Grammar (BCG) is based on arithmetic computing and integrates the cohesion degree as the priorities between operators. In order to resolve the share space problem and to improve the efficiency of operator-precedence shift-reduce parsing algorithm, the notion of precedence is introduced to the CYK algorithm to determine the combinatorial direction and to prune a portion of unnecessary subtrees during the parsing process. In the experiment of Chinese BCG parsing, all of the spent time, produced edges and result trees in the precedence based CYK algorithm are much less than that of the traditional CYK algorithm and the operator precedence based shift-reduce algorithm.

The total transmission capacity required by a transport network to satisfy demand and protect it from failures contributes significantly to its cost. Unlike SCP (spare capacity placement) scheme, JOCP (jointly optimized capacity placement) scheme could reach more optimal results since it tries to jointly optimize both working and spare capacity. However, the later is more complex and time- consuming according to previous research based on IP solution. This paper presents a heuristic algorithm MSC-JOCP, which is based on shared-path protection, to address this problem. The key idea of the algorithm is to dynamically modulate the metrics of the network's spans, so as to choose primary and backup routes given attention to load balancing as well as maximally share the spare capacity. Simulation results show that the developed scheme effectively reduces the required total capacity and enhances the network resource utilization.

Partner selection is a critical problem in organizing virtual enterprises according to 3 main indexes of cost, credit degree and make span provided by the candidates. An improved genetic algorithm (AGA) with total fitness ranking-based selection and adaptive operator is presented. Selection based on total fitness ranking make multi-objective problem several single- objective optimizations, insures rational interval between individuals and avoids premature convergence. Crossover and mutation operator are adjusted according to the fitness and iterative degree. Thus, each individual owns the ability of self-adaptation with the variation of environment. The simulated results verified the effectiveness of AGA.

Because of the complicated interaction of the sludge compost components, it makes the quality evaluation system of sludge compost appear the fuzziness. According to the physical circumstances of sludge compost, a compost quality evaluation modeling method based on fuzzy neural network is presented. We select the index of sludge compost quality and take the high temperature duration, degradation rate, nitrogen content, average oxygen concentration and maturity degree as the evaluation parameters. We construct the structure of fuzzy neural network that used for the quality evaluation of sludge compost, and adopt the Levenberg-Marquart optimizing algorithm to train fuzzy neural network. With the ability of strong self-learning and function approach of fuzzy neural network, the modeling method can truly evaluate the sludge compost quality by learning the index information of sludge compost quality. The experimental results show that this method is feasible and effective.

The Unified Modeling Language (UML) has become a widely adopted standard in the software development industry. Unfortunately, the UML is a semi-formal language which lacks precisely defined constructs. Z language is a formal specification language. Formal languages are used to ensure that systems meet regulations and standards. This paper aims to reduce risks associated with software development and increase safety and reliability. This goal is achieved by formalizing the syntax of (a sub-set of the popular UML diagrams (Use Case diagram, Class diagram, and State Machine diagram) using Z specifications.

This paper presented a new kind of query, global nearest neighbors query, which is based on a special distance, global distance, between two objects during given time interval. According to the relationship with continuous nearest neighbor query, a native algorithm is proposed. In terms of the mobility of data set, global distances at different situation are refined and some heuristics are presented for data set indexed by data structure of R tree family. Based on branch and bound technique and proposed pruning, updating and visiting heuristics, recursive depth-first and heap-based best- first query processing algorithms are developed for both cases. An extensive study based on experiments performed with synthetic data sets shows that the best- first algorithms outperform the depth-first algorithms.

Computational morphology is a core component in many different types of natural language processing, such as the alignment techniques. This paper describes a method for morphological processing. Based on both rules and statistical models, a lemmatizer is constructed to analyze the English inflectional morphology, and automatically derives the lemmas of the words. The rule model incorporates data from various corpora, machine-readable dictionaries, and an empirical metamorphose rule set, and the statistical model applies mainly the maximum entropy principles to deal with unknown words and ambiguous cases effectively. The knowledge used in our lemmatizer is convenient to update to support the development of natural language processing. Experiments show that the lemmatizer has a wide coverage and high accuracy.

Spam is considered a significant security problem for computer users everywhere. Spammers exploit a variety of tricks to conceal parts of messages that can be used to identify spam. This paper presents an email feature extraction technique based on artificial immune systems. The method extracts a relatively small set of features that can be used as inputs to a classification model. A Backpropagation neural network is employed as the spam detection model. The performance evaluation against a standard spam collection and reference systems shows that the proposed approach performs well compared to other systems with large sets of features, rules, or external evidences. The detection rate of the best system in the study is 92.4 %, with 1 % and 13.8 % of false positive and false negative rates, respectively.

This paper presents a model based on neural network optimized by the ant colony optimization algorithm (ACOA) for fault section diagnosis in distribution systems of electric power systems, and the simulation results show that it can effectively improve the fault-tolerance ability of fault section diagnosis. It had better fault-tolerance ability in contrast with the BP-NN model and the DGA-NN model. It must be pointed out that the improvement degree is correlative with the space distribution of samples, and it isn 't the essential improvement, but it is the potential mining of neural network.

As problem size increases dramatically and quickly, many scientific computing applications, such as molecular dynamics and many-particle collision simulations, exhibit high demand on data capacity and computability of the hosting computer systems. Scalable solutions are on demand. Neither well optimized sequential algorithms nor expensive shared memory parallel computers could be the ultimate choice for such large-scale problems. This paper intends to solve this scalability problem by taking advantage of the availability of commodity computers. Aggregated memory and networked computers satisfy the capacity and computability requests. To overcome the strong event dependency nature in particle collision simulations, a speculative execution scheme is proposed to exploit parallelism. Performance analysis and experiments are provided to show the balance between scalability and performance gains.
