With the rapid development of highperformance computing, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has become an important part of hydrodynamics and aerodynamics. Mesh quality is the key factor that affects the accuracy and efficiency of CFD numerical calculation. However, the current the process of mesh quality discrimination is very time-consuming. The manpower time needed for this process takes up a large proportion in the whole numerical calculation process. A large number of artificial intelligence algorithms have been put forward to replace the human to efficiently complete all kinds of tedious tasks. In this paper, we propose a convolutional neural network (CNN) based mesh quality discrimination method, MeshNet. MeshNet uses residual neural network structure to learn mesh features and automatically judge the mesh quality. The experimental results show that the proposed network can greatly save labor time cost and achieve an accuracy of 94.41% for mesh quality discrimination. © 2020 IEEE.

Delivering on-demand web content to end-users in order to carry out strict QoS metrics is not a trivial task for globally distributed network providers. This task becomes still harder when content popularity varies over the time and the SLA definitions have to include both transfer rate and latency metrics. Current worldwide content delivery approaches and datacenter infrastructures rely on cumbersome replication schemes that are agnostic to edge-network resources, and damage content provision. In this work we present AREN, an novel replication scheme for cloud storage on edge networks. AREN relies on a collaborative cache strategy and bandwidth reservation to adapt the replication degree according to strict SLA contracts and content popularity growth. We have evaluated the performances of replication schemes on edge networks using Caju, a content distribution system for edge networks. Compared to a non-collaborative caching, evaluations show that AREN prevents nearly 99.8% of all SLA violations when the storage system is heavily loaded. We also show that AREN provides a sevenfold decrease in the amount of storage usage for replicas, and it increases by roughly 20% the aggregate bandwidth, hence accelerating content delivery.

Counting triangles in networks is a fundamental problem in network science. In addition, because we are forced to manage very large real-world networks, current triangle counting algorithms naturally require a distributed computing system. In this paper, we propose a distributed triangle counting algorithm based on both the vertex-centric and node-iterator models and using the multi-level branching technique. Multi-level branching is a method that constructs an ordered graph structure based on levels. This method not only facilitates an efficient triangle counting process, but also guarantees the computational integrity of each split in the distributed triangle counting process. First, we describe a level-based triangle counting algorithm based on both the vertex-centric model and the node-iterator algorithm. Then, we develop a distributed implementation of the proposed algorithm using GraphChi. The main advantages of the proposed algorithm are that the execution is simple yet effective, and thus its parallelization is efficient. Experiments on real-world networks verify its performance, particularly, its near-linear parallelization scalability.

As is well known, computer security has been given more attention; many mechanisms have been developed to increase P2P security like encryption, sandboxing, reputation, and firewall. Among those technologies, reputation mechanism as an active method is especially useful to automatically record, analyze and adjust peers' reputation, trust, histories among the different peers, and this method is suitable for our anonymous and dynamic P2P environment. Therefore, reputation-based trust mechanism is a secure enough reputation system. In this paper, we present a new reputation-based trust management model to prevent the spread of malicious content in the open community using a resource chain model. The main idea of the resource chain model is using a routing table to record the information of nodes' credibility and their recommending nodes' credibility. Therefore, using this model can help us to find the best and safest resource location efficiently and decrease the number of malicious transactions.

In the realm of pseudo-random simultaneous physiological computing models, exemplified by the innovative cell-like P systems (CLPS) with channel sections and symport ad antiport rules known as CCS P systems, this paper introduces a progressive variant—CCSs P systems. This augmentation incorporates a synchronization rule, adding a nuanced layer to the original CCS P system's channel sections and symport/antiport rules. The study delves into the computational analysis of drug sensitivity data, meticulously generated by Rising for various cancer cell lines and an array of chemicals. With a specific focus on advancing anticancer treatments for brain tumours, the research confronts the inherent challenges of accurate segmentation in the clinical context. Given the diverse sizes, shapes, and individual variations of brain tumours, achieving precise segmentation is a formidable task. In response, this study pioneers a distinctive fully convolutional neural network, seamlessly integrating a feature reuse module for iterative structure utilization and a feature conformity module to enhance the synthesis of multiple feature maps while minimizing noise. The ubiquity of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) is undeniable, yet their time-intensive training, resource demands, and data complexity necessitate novel approaches. To tackle these challenges, the research introduces a groundbreaking hypergraph membrane system—an innovative distributed and parallel computation paradigm poised to implement the Multiple Convolutional Neural networks (MCNN). © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

With the advent of high bandwidth third-generation mobile networks and other wireless networks, grid computing has migrated from traditional parallel and distributed computing to pervasive and utility computing based on the wireless networks and mobile devices, which results in the emergence of a new computing paradigm named mobile grid. Data replication is widely used in mobile grid environments to reduce access cost and improve data availability. Therefore, replica placement becomes one of important challenges for the replica management in mobile grid environments. This paper addresses the QoS-aware replica placement problem in a tree based mobile grid environments. At the same time this paper proposes a two-step solution for this problem: the first step is a bottom-up dynamic programming approach for placing replicas to satisfy the QoS requirements of mobile users and workload constraint of replicas; then, a binary search based algorithm is used to finish the k replica placement problem in mobile grid environments. Experimental studies show this solution is feasible and efficient for the replica placement problem in mobile grid environments.

A hierarchical DHT overlay architecture based on P2PSIP is proposed to support a skype-like service. The IETF P2PSIP working group is standardizing a protocol to support any DHT in order to deploy services inside a domain. We extend its functionality to allow the interaction between peers of different domains. Furthermore, we perform an analysis of the routing performance and resource consumption under a skype-like scenario where VoIP calls are more likely to happen among users of the same domain.

In sensor network applications, data gathering mechanisms, which are based on multi-hop forwarding can be expensive in terms of energy. This limitation reduces the lifetime of the network and challenges the use of sensor networks for applications that demand a predefined operational lifetime. To avoid this problem, the benefits of using mobile gateway to prolong sensor life-time have been explored in the literature. However, practical considerations such as the gateway speed and route planning, sensor buffer size and data frequency generation constraints impose limits on the mobile elements. In this work, we consider the natural hybrid solution that combines the two approaches of mobile gateways and multi-hop forwarding to address more constraints for sensor applications. We provide algorithmic solutions that attempt to balance the benefits of both approaches. Based on a given predetermined time deadline, a gateway tour will be established to involve a subset of the sensors. These selected sensors will work as gathering points and will aggregate the other sensors' data. The gathering points/nodes are selected with the aim of reducing the energy expenditures due to multi-hop forwarding. Using approximation-preserving reductions, we discuss the hardness of this problem. We also present a heuristic-based solution and validate its performance through an extensive set of experiments.

The mining of association rules is one of the database mining techniques used to extract useful information from large quantities of data. Finding association rules, however, requires that the transaction database be scanned repeatedly, and we need to handle very large amounts of transaction data. This requires an incredibly large amount of computation time. There have therefore been many attempts to speed-up database mining by using parallel computers. Recent improvements in the performance of PCs and workstations (WSs), and the recent dissemination of network technology have made parallel processing distributed within computer clusters an attractive alternative to parallel computers. In this paper we describe two new algorithms effective for parallel processing distributed in a WS cluster environment. One is an algorithm in which the size of data transmitted between WSs is smaller than that of the former algorithm. The other is an algorithm that reduces the amount of scan processing at each node by dividing data and that uses shift operations for data communication. We have implemented these algorithms on a WS cluster and have evaluated their performance.

P2P systems have suffered a lot from free riding problem i.e. some participants consume more resources than they contribute. In order to deal with this problem efficiently, an incentive model based on peer credit has been proposed. Each peer in this model is a credit entity. Through introducing reward method to the model, peers will allocate resources according to the credits of requesting peers to maximize their own credits. A backtracking algorithm has been suggested to solve the issue of maximizing credit rewards. To avoid inflation of the credit, attenuation method is introduced. The scheme how to apply the credit model in hybrid P2P networks has also been elaborated in this work. The experimental results show that the model can effectively control free riding and improve efficiency of the system.
