The article deals with some aspects of visualisation as the tool of education process quality increasing at technical universities. There is described the sequence of 3D modelling activities that students have to pass in order to be successful in the study and consequently in practice. First, they learn to create simple parts, then they learn to assemble the components into the static or welded assemblies, respectively into movable mechanism. In higher levels, if they absorb the fundamental theoretical knowledge, they can subject the 3D models to the analysis, as are stress, kinematic, dynamic analysis, etc. and compare the computer aided results with the values calculated in classical way. Students can apply the other advantages of the virtual models into the drawings preparation in electronic form and at the tool path verification during the machining simulation. The whole production process can be designed by students, too. They can use several CAD/CAM systems for all activities listed above and compare results to verify the solution.

In order to solve the problem of obstacle avoidance of ship in restricted waters, a type of path planning method for obstacle avoidance based on sigmoid function was designed. Firstly, with the concept of path planning, sigmoid function was used to construct the trajectory of ship movement for obstacle avoidance on the basis of analyzing the process of ship obstacle avoidance and the geometric features of sigmoid function. Then, the route tracking in real time was achieved by ship motion control system based on active disturbance rejection control. The simulation shows that ship can ensure avoid obstacle and that the route built based on sigmoid function in confined waters is effective.

Thanks to their properties, microalloyed steels have found numerous applications in virtually all branches of industry. Forging plants, which supply various forged parts for automotive industry, are under substantial pressure to cut costs and reduce production times. One of potential sources of savings is reducing the forging temperature. This step requires that the deformation behaviour of feedstock materials is mapped accurately. The C38 ML material was chosen for the present experiment and tested in compression in a plastometer. Test temperatures ranged from 700 °C to 1100 °C at deformation rates between1 mm/s and 100 mm/s. Data from plastometer tests were converted into a model compatible with the DEFORM simulation software. The model was employed for optimising the forging process in terms of forming tool speeds. Another approach to finding this valuable information consists in using various simulation programmes. In the present experiment, measured deformation curves were compared with those obtained using the JMat Pro software. Finally, reference forgings were made in a hydrostatic forging press in trials of the new manufacturing procedure and their properties were measured.
