Model of social-economic phenomena based on solid-state Ising model is formulated and used for computer simulation. The model is based on the lattice model of ferromagnetic or antiferromagnetic matter but takes deal with social phenomena. Set of agents of social-economic interaction is introduced into consideration. Agents take decision about participation in some sort of activity at discrete moments of time. The decision may lead to profit or to loss. It depends on previous history of the social-economic system. Dynamics of a system is defined by stochastic Markov process. Stochastic nature of the process is influenced by external and individual factors. The model is formulated algorithmically as a sequence of steps and is studied by means of computer simulation. Numerical results are given.

Modelling and Simulation of a Controlled Solenoid

In this paper a suggested control system for a solenoid coil is proposed. This control model is based on the employment of the electrical part of the solenoid with a conventional proportional, integral, and derivative (PID) controller unit to investigate the performance of the control system. A mathematical model of the system has been derived, and the entire control system simulated via the MATLAB software package. The simulation process included tuning the gain parameters of the controller unit to achieve best behaviour of the system. In the computer simulation, two mathematical models of the electrical part of the solenoid coil were implemented;the first one involved the typical transfer functions of the coil, while the second dealt with an approximate model. The obtained results showed that the control system using the approximate model of the electrical part of the solenoid coil provides a more stable system and can thus be applied with acceptable response.

Scrum is an agile framework within which people can address complex problems, while productively and creatively delivering products of the highest possible value. The dynamics of a team provide uncertainly for successfully completion on all the user stories in the current sprint backlog, those uncertain is cause by the task allocation to various agent can cause various team performance, the various learning curve of various agent can affect the team performance. The team performance will finally affect the delivery of the software at each sprint. For this reason, it is difficult to estimate how much workload can be completed in a sprint as this depends on the capability of the team member, the complexity of the task, etc. Our design also needs to consider the various working strategies on quality demand that affect the individual capability during the sprints of the Scrum project. Agent based modelling is used to simulation the above process and we developed a simulation tool based on JADE (Java Agent Development Framework) to carry on the research.

This paper focuses on the simulation of an electroflocculation process applied in the treatment of wastewater with high organic load. This method was selected since it allows the water to be treated in short time and it is possible to reach a water quality to meet the national standard requirements. Based on reported studies, a model of the type variable order kinetic (VOK) is deduced for chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal by electroflocculation. The model is developed from the Langmuir-Freundlich equation to determine the kinetics of the COD removal. Aluminum and iron plates are considered as work electrodes. Several simulations are done in order to evaluate different input current profiles. The obtained results show that a decreasing ramp on input current improves the process performances. In order to solve the problem of obstacle avoidance of ship in restricted waters, a type of path planning method for obstacle avoidance based on sigmoid function was designed. Firstly, with the concept of path planning, sigmoid function was used to construct the trajectory of ship movement for obstacle avoidance on the basis of analyzing the process of ship obstacle avoidance and the geometric features of sigmoid function. Then, the route tracking in real time was achieved by ship motion control system based on active disturbance rejection control. The simulation shows that ship can ensure avoid obstacle and that the route built based on sigmoid function in confined waters is effective. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2018.

As the development of solar energy is getting advance from time to time, the concentration solar technology also get the similar attention from the researchers all around the globe. This technology concentrate a large amount of energy into main spot. To collect all the available energy harvest from the solar panel, a thermal energy storage is required to convert the heat energy to one of the purpose such as electrical energy. With the idea of energy storage application that can be narrow down to commercial application such as cooking stove. Using latent heat type energy storage seem to be appropriate with the usage of phase change material (PCM) that can release and absorb heat energy at nearly constant temperature by changing its state. Sodium nitrate (NaNO3) and potassium nitrate (KNO3) was selected to use as PCM in this project. This paper focus on the heat loading process and the melting process of the PCM in the energy storage using a computer simulation. The model of the energy storage was created as solid three dimensional modelling using computer aided software and the geometry size of it depend on how much it can apply to boil 1 kg of water in cooking application. The materials used in the tank, heat exchanger and the heat transfer fluid are stainless steel, copper and XCELTHERM MK1, respectively. The analysis was performed using a commercial simulation software in a transient state. The simulation run on different value of velocity but kept controlled under laminar state only, then the relationship of velocity and heat distribution was studied and the melting process of the PCM also has been analyzed. On the effect of heat transfer fluid velocity, the higher the velocity resulted in higher the rate of heat transfer. The comparison between the melting percentages of the PCMs under test conditions show that NaNO3 melts quite faster than KNO3.

A computer model of operation of Hamamatsu R11410-20 photomultiplier based on SPICE software package has been developed. The PMT amplification process is simulated with the use of voltage and current controlled sources of current. Boundaries of linear zone were obtained for high anode current (with respect to the base current) operation regime. The results of simulation are in reasonable agreement with the experimentally measured PMT characteristics. The model can be used for simulation of any type of PMT. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Decision-making in healthcare is a complex process involving multiple stakeholders. One such stakeholder category is the intended users of the system itself - the patients. We present a study in which users use real-time hospital operations data to make attendance choices. The work was carried out with the Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (TSDFT) and its network of Minor Injury Units (MIUs) and one Emergency Department (ED). The aim of this research was to provide information transparency on ED/MIU waiting times which would allow recipients, including, significantly, patients who are in need of urgent medical attention, to make informed decisions as to the facility that could best serve their needs. This work will contribute towards reducing pressure in ED by redistributing demand for minor ailments among the MIUs, since the MIUs have facilities for the treatment of minor injuries and the ED exists mainly for emergency and life-threating conditions. ©2017 Society for Modeling & simulation international (SCS).

In order to solve the problem that the adjustment sequence depends only on the data structure in the process of constraint satisfaction, a method of propagating from the fixed points is proposed. The method analyzes the internal force of fabrics in the real world, sorts the particles in ascending order according to the distance from the mass to the fixed points by using the breadth-first search method. The experimental results show that applying the proposed method to the position based dynamics simulation of cloth can converge faster and improve the simulation efficiency.
