This paper evaluates the possibility of implementing a production line that incorporates the strategies of Industry 4.0 into its operation system, which includes the use of the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), big data, cloud computing, and robotics to develop a smart factory. These factories have a high level of connectivity and integration of systems, allowing an effective sharing of information in real-time. Topics include the function of smart transducers in real-time management and the improvement of process interoperability through the application of the ieee 1451 standard. This is achieved through the integration of robotics with AI to enable the adaptive and precise control of production variables, thus improving the efficiency and quality of products. The paper also discusses the issues and scenarios of using these technologies where standardization plays a major role.

Human-robot interaction encompasses various applications, from simple tasks to advanced complex functionalities. This research introduces a specialised robotics end effector specially modelled with auditory processing for drumming along-side humans. This system interprets auditory vocal input to generate precise and adaptive drumming patterns. Utilising precision motor control and real-time signal processing to replicate drumming with human-like characteristics with precision. This work demonstrates collaboration between performing arts and robotics, demonstrating the potential of intelligentsystems to interact with human creativity in real-time. The specialised end effector utilises precise motor control with motor drivers and a belt mechanism to regulate the speed and direction of the drumstick, enabling rapid, high-speed strokes to strike the drum 4 to 5 times per second. By integrating audio perception with mechanical execution, this research advances the state of the art and establishes a new framework for incorporating robotics into the creative and artistic domain.

The surge in flexible and wearable electronics, fueled by advancements in smart technologies and growing market demand, has highlighted the importance of auxetic sensors for applications in healthcare, medical rehabilitation, soft robotics, and human-machine interfaces. For widespread adoption, these sensors must offer high sensitivity, substantial stretchability, and long-term durability. This study explores the possibilities of realizing such wearable soft sensors based on conductive thermoplastic polyurethane (cTPU) 3D printing enhanced with auxetic mechanical metamaterials. Following simultaneous empirical mechanical and electrical measurements, auxetic soft sensor designs were compared with numerical simulations. Results suggest that such soft sensors based on metamaterials are great candidates for applications in healthcare and robotics when realized with 3D printing.

Robot autonomy becomes increasingly prolific with the development of advanced artificially intelligent technologies. Embodied robotics is related to real-time interaction of the robot platforms with the environment. An important aspect of embod-ied robotics is the use of multi-sensory information fusion for robust autonomous decisions and actions. Biologically-inspired approaches to multi-sensory integration (Gestalt formation) gained popularity in embodied robotics due to their flexibility and robustness in noisy and unpredictable practical scenarios. In this work, we discuss dynamic behaviors in multi-robot interaction which emerge as a result of implementing cognitively-motivated multi-sensory integration and action selection. A testbed using mobile quadruped Spot robots is proposed, to evaluate hypotheses on the formation of sequential communication patterns in robot-robot collaboration.
