Logic verification becomes more and more important for the design of large-scale digital integrated circuits (ICs). This makes FPGA-based hardware emulation an imperative step in the design flow, and how to effectively partition and map the circuit netlist into the multi-FPGA system (MFS) for emulation is of concern. In this paper, we present EasyPart, an effective and comprehensive hypergraph partitioner for the FPGA-based hardware emulation. EasyPart can handle the practical constraints in the MFS for logic emulation and includes novel techniques for pursuing minimum hop during topology-driven partitioning and treating the interconnection constraints. We have evaluated EasyPart against state-of-the-art partitioners on public benchmarks. The results show that EasyPart can reduce the cutsize with a comparable or shorter runtime. EasyPart is capable of finding non-hop solutions with better robustness and performance compared to previous work. It also achieves significant improvements in terms of time division multiplexing (TDM) ratio and maximum hop when tested on industrial cases. © 2024 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s).

Near-DRAM computing strategies advocate for providing computational capabilities close to where data is stored. Although this paradigm can effectively address the memory-to-processor communication bottleneck, it also presents new challenges: The strict resource constraints in the memory periphery demand careful tailoring of architectural elements. We herein propose a novel framework and methodology to explore compute-near-memory designs that interface to DRAM memory banks, demonstrating the area, energy, and performance tradeoffs subject to the architectural configuration. We exemplify this methodology by conducting two studies on compute-near-bank designs: 1) analyzing the interaction between control and data resources, and 2) exploring the integration of processing units with different DRAM standards. According to our study, the optimal size ratios between instruction and data capacity vary from 2x to 4x across benchmarks from representative application domains. The retrieved Pareto-optimal solutions from our framework improve state-of-the-art designs, e.g., achieving a 50% performance increase on matrix operations with 15% energy overhead relative to the FIMDRAM design. In addition, the exploration of DRAM shows the interplay between available internal bandwidth, performance, and area overhead. For example, a threefold increase in bandwidth rises performance by 47% across workloads at a 34% extra area cost.

Online Nonlinear P-Q Droop Estimation of Distributed Generations Based on Kalman-Filter Algorithm to Improve Voltage Stability

It is expected worldwide that the increase in renewable penetration will worsen the voltage profile in contrast to the conventional synchronous generators. This is because it is not proper to authorize all independent power producers' renewable sources to control grid voltages. Although there has been a bunch of research to improve voltage stability, each has the problem of huge computational effort, limited grid reflection, calibration, etc. Thus, the indirect voltage control by droop can be a substantial solution. Then, it is the very one of the critical issues to determine the proper droop ratio, which might be strongly non-linear due to the complexity of the power system. This paper proposes the online nonlinear P-Q droop estimation of distributed generations. It improves voltage stability, which might get worse after the connection of renewable energies or energy storage devices through inverters. First, power sensitivities between multiple P and Q are derived and used to determine the initial state of the linear P-Q droop required for the initial operation that gets data for precise estimation of the P-Q droop. Thus, it enhanced the estimation performance by reducing the required data yet without the extreme P-Q range. Then, the nonlinear P-Q droop estimation is conducted with the Kalman-filter algorithm. The performance is verified by applying it to the real distribution power system of an island in Korea. For the verification, the distribution power system is modeled at the EMT level and simulated using the power system computer-aided design and electromagnetic transient and DC (PSCAD/EMTDC (TM) ). The voltage stability was improved by the proposed nonlinear P-Q droop estimation compared to the cases using fixed droop or Q of zero.

Through the study of batik patterns and the use of computer-aided design ideas, an innovative batik pattern design system based on genetic algorithms was established. The innovative design system through the designer's set, cross, mutation and other genetic operations to form a variety of assembly programs. At the same time, the designer can manually modify the pattern according to the actual needs, in order to get more personalized and artistic characteristics of the pattern. © 2024 ieee.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous edge computing in space are emerging areas of interest to augment capabilities of nanosatellites, where modern sensors generate orders of magnitude more data than can typically be transmitted to mission control. Here, we present the hardware and software design of an onboard AI subsystem hosted on SpIRIT. The system is optimised for on-board computer vision experiments based on visible light and long wave infrared cameras. This paper highlights the key design choices made to maximise the robustness of the system in harsh space conditions, and their motivation relative to key mission requirements, such as limited compute resources, resilience to cosmic radiation, extreme temperature variations, distribution shifts, and very low transmission bandwidths. The payload, called Loris, consists of six visible light cameras, three infrared cameras, a camera control board and a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) system-on-module. Loris enables the execution of AI models with onorbit fine-tuning as well as a next-generation image compression algorithm, including progressive coding. This innovative approach not only enhances the data processing capabilities of nanosatellites but also lays the groundwork for broader applications to remote sensing from space.

This paper proposes an automated framework for quantitative verification and design space exploration of cyber-physical systems in the presence of uncertainty, leveraging assume-guarantee contracts expressed in Stochastic Signal Temporal Logic (StSTL). We introduce quantitative semantics for StSTL and formulations of the quantitative verification and design space exploration problems as bi-level optimization problems. We show that these optimization problems can be effectively solved for a class of stochastic systems and a fragment of bounded-time StSTL formulas. Our algorithm searches for partitions of the upper-level design space such that the solutions of the lower-level problems satisfy the upper-level constraints. A set of optimal parameter values are then selected within these partitions. We illustrate the effectiveness of our framework on the design of a multi-sensor perception system and an automatic cruise control system.

This paper proposes a trajectory control method for six-axis industrial robot motion optimization based on computer-aided design (CAD) and Ansys Workbench platform. First, this paper reduces unnecessary motion conflicts and optimizes its working path by co-optimizing the motion of each axis of the robot. Secondly, Ansys Workbench is used to simulate the system, the motion parameters of the six-axis robot in actual work are input into the system, an accurate motion model is constructed, and the effectiveness of the algorithm is verified by simulation. The simulation results show that the algorithm not only significantly improves the stability of the robot motion, but also reduces the motion time and energy consumption. In addition, this paper also analyzes the simulation data in detail. The results show that after motion optimization, the trajectory accuracy of the robot is improved by 15 %, the work efficiency is improved by 12 %, and the energy consumption is reduced by 8 %. The study shows that the combination of the simulation platform based on Ansys Workbench and the optimization algorithm can not only effectively improve the motion control ability of the six-axis industrial robot, but also provide strong support for further intelligent manufacturing. © 2024 ieee.

Targeting transport is an emerging field in the medical industry that is attempting to obtain a more precise cure for the diseased area. This transport process requires a robot transporter to reach the target. This project aims to develop an E. coli-based swimming robot for precisely delivering medicine to the appointed target area. Key parameters influencing motion are selected through preliminary kinematic analysis in a uniform, viscous fluid. By using the recursion method and differential equation calculation, this project simulated the trajectory related to the robot's movement and derived the controlling equation. computer aided design (CAD) models are developed under macroscopic dimensions and simulations are performed in liquid environments for validation under microscopic dimensions. A path planning algorithm and a control program with feedback and feedforward control are also developed to stabilize the system. This project has tested the feasibility of different motions under different sets of design specifications and thrust setups, and optimized the related design specifications in the unified viscous flow by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis. In addition, a control system for the swimmer's obstacle avoidance and path planning was designed, based on the thrust configurations as inputs. The influence of environment parameters and the robot's structure is investigated. A robot model capable of moving in a two-dimensional environment is developed correspondingly, which supports further studies' field tests of micro-robots targeting transport.

The multiport autonomous reconfigurable solar (MARS) power plant is a promising solution to integrate renewable resources and energy storage systems into the alternating current (ac) power grid and an high-voltage direct current (HVdc) link. In theMARS system, various input power sources are connected to the individual submodules (SMs) through direct current (dc)-dc converters. However, the presence of external power sources can result in unbalanced capacitor voltages of SMs, thereby violating stability constraints under multiple/diverse operating conditions. This article aims to address the gap by accurately determining the stability boundary of the MARS system. As such, a novel machine learning (ML)-assisted energy balancing control (EBC) criterion is proposed. In conjunction with a refined EBC, this approach ensures balanced capacitor voltages across various types of SMs, significantly enhancing the overall system efficiency. The proposed EBC criterion effectively controls EBC activation and deactivation, achieving remarkable accuracy. Both power systems computer aided design (PSCAD)/electromagnetic transients including direct current (EMTDC) simulations and control hardware-in-the-loop (cHIL) tests are conducted to validate the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed method. By combining the EBC and ML-assisted EBC criterion, efficient energy management is achieved for systems featuring multiple input power sources, such as MARS. This approach enables the system to fully exploit its potential across an expanded operational range while upholding high-efficiency standards.

This paper designs a simulation platform monitoring system implemented by data distribution services to solve the problem that traditional network transmission is not flexible enough in the simulation platform monitoring system. First, an user profile based system monitoring network architecture is proposed;Second, we design a profile based board level automatic data distribution service establishing method;Third, the system monitoring software is designed to ensure that the whole system is controllable by monitoring each board and sending modified profiles;The experiments show that the proposed simulation platform monitoring system based on data distribution service proposed in this paper has the advantages of perfect quality of service control strategy, high quality of service, strong scalability and flexibility. © 2023 ieee.
