Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are pivotal in various applications, including precision agriculture, ecological surveillance, and the Internet of Things (IoT). However, energy limitations of battery-powered nodes are a critical challenge, necessitating optimization of energy efficiency for maximal network lifetime. Existing strategies like duty cycling and Wake-up Radio (WuR) technology have been employed to mitigate energy consumption and latency, but they present challenges in scenarios with sparse deployments and short communication ranges. This paper introduces and evaluates the performance of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)-assisted mobile data collection for WuR-enabled WSNs through physical and simulated experiments. We propose two one-hop UAV-based data collection strategies: a naive strategy, which follows a predetermined fixed path, and an adaptive strategy, which optimizes the collection route based on recorded metadata. Our evaluation includes multiple experiment categories, measuring collection reliability, collection cycle duration, successful data collection time (latency), and node awake time to infer network lifetime. Results indicate that the adaptive strategy outperforms the naive strategy across all metrics. Furthermore, WuR-based scenarios demonstrate lower latency and considerably lower node awake time compared to duty cycle-based scenarios, leading to several orders of magnitude longer network lifetime. Remarkably, our results suggest that the use of WuR technology alone achieves unprecedented network lifetimes, regardless of whether data collection paths are optimized. This underscores the significance of WuR as the technology of choice for all energy critical WSN applications.

High aspect ratio Na - Co oxide ceramic filler - polymer composites with unique dielectric and electrical properties are potentially promising materials for power applications due to their high dielectric permittivity, low dielectric loss tangent values, and reversible non-linear dielectric properties under an applied electric field. This research utilizes novel ceramic platelets as the varistor filler component, introducing a new class of materials to electrical stress controltechnology. By minimizing the amount of varistor filler material required (< 15 wt.%), it is possible to develop lightweight non-linear dielectric composites that not only exhibit improved electrical characteristics but also make processing easier and more cost effective. This is a significant advantage, as it ensures that the resulting composites maintain their structural integrity and durability while effectively managing electrical stress and opening up new design space. These composites exhibit novel dielectric and electrical characteristics, which can be utilized in a variety of industrial electrical applications, such as electrical stress control accessories, e.g., terminations and splices.

The DC-DC buck converter can be applied to solar photovoltaic (PV) battery charging applications. However, the solar buck battery charger exhibits nonlinear behavior in the output current due to the nonlinear output of the solar PV array and the fixed voltage of the output-side battery. Therefore, this paper analyzes the nonlinearity of the output current from the perspective of Ampere-sec balance in all regions, and proposes interleaved ampere-sec balance control to enhance stability. The modeling of the solar buck battery charger and the solar interleaved buck battery charger employs unified modeling. This enables accurate comparisons, and the improvement in stability is verified through comparative simulations.

Data centers have a pivotal role in the uprising era of industrial IoT and 6G communication. However, sustainability objectives requisite effective energy utilization in data centers in view of high consumption rate. This article proposes an efficient, three-phase semi-converter aided 400 V/48 V DC Transformer (DCTx) for rack-level distribution in data center. The three-phase semi-converter configuration imparts three degrees of control for superior 48 V regulation. In further, the DCTx is equipped with proposed ingenious, load-adaptive control approach. For control efficacy, the proposed control incorporates all possible control variables to ensure effective output voltage control during steady and dynamic states. The experimental results of developed 1 kW prototype suggest the feasibility of the proposed DC Transformer and associated control approach for 400 V/48 V DC data center DC power distribution application.

Traditionally, fish farming involves manual methods for fish identification. However, with the advancement of computer vision technology, an automatic identification system can be developed. This study introduces a fish identification method based on detecting fish body pose using a lightweight convolutional neural network model. The Micropterus salmoides was used as the study object to construct a fish pose dataset. The target detection frame has also been updated to a rotating format to better recognize fish in all orientations. Feature vectors were constructed based on the pose estimation, and the random forest algorithm was applied for feature degradation and fish identity identification. The fish pose detection network achieved an accuracy rate of 0.98 on the test set. Detection-based tracking was also used to track the trajectory of fish targets. This method can provide a foundation for fish individual identification, size detection, and precision breeding devices, optimizing efficiency in fish farming.
