The utilization and integration of renewable energy sources (RES), called distributed energy resources (DERs), have advanced significantly within the framework of power system design, especially in a microgrid. Some of RESs like photovoltaic (PV), wind, waves, and tides are naturally intermittent. Therefore, battery energy storage system (BESS) is needed in the microgrid system to minimize power fluctuations and improve power quality. In this paper, protection and control strategy for BESS in DC microgrid are presented. First, the protection of BESS by coordinating the current-time curve of each BESS protection device is presented. Protection devices are modelled by using a solid-state DC circuit breaker. Then, a droop control method with voltage restoration is implemented in BESS to maintain the DC microgrid bus voltage at 500 Vdc. Finally, the simulation results verify that the proposed protection coordination with droop control and voltage restoration works robustly by maintaining constant DC bus voltage despite the fluctuation of the load. This paper focuses on the protection and control of BESS in the LV DC microgrid. © 2023 ieee.

A V/F control method is implemented in this paper without digital processors and only with electronic circuits. Three-phase induction motors are typically controlled using the V IF control method. Digital processors are sometimes viewed as a source of concern in some applications, such as ships, where security and reliability are of great importance. Several concerns have been raised concerning the potential for hang-ups due to poor environmental conditions, such as temperature and humidity, as well as the impact of a noise-free environment and the possibility of hacking. Accordingly, if electronic circuits for this equipment can be implemented without digital processors, the level of security and reliability in this sector will be dramatically enhanced. Specifically, the control unit of propulsion systems is the part of ships studied in this paper. controlling the ship's engine speed and ensuring a safe start-up is the primary goal of this section. A digital processor is not used in this paper to achieve this goal. Through the PSIM software, simulations and results can be viewed. A simulation of the proposed circuit confirms its feasibility. © 2023 ieee.

—In recent years, agriculture has undergone significant technological advancements, becoming more commercial and technology-driven. These innovations have given farmers greater control over crop cultivation, enhancing security and profitability. As a result, IoT, connected devices, and automation are increasingly used in agriculture for tasks like crop monitoring, soil moisture measurement, climate assessment, intrusion detection, and efficient irrigation. Smart farming prioritizes extensive coverage over high data volumes or rapid transmission. In rural areas, low-power long-range (LoRa) technology plays a pivotal role, connecting hundreds of sensors up to 15 km away. Compared to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, LoRa stands out as an ideal choice for agriculture. This paper provides an overview of LoRa-based farm monitoring, including applications, advantages, and challenges. It also discusses the current landscape and future prospects for LoRa-based farm monitoring systems. This research aligns with several UN Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Life on Land), by promoting sustainable agriculture, technological innovation, efficient land use, climate-resilient farming, and biodiversity protection. ©2023 ieee.

The switched reluctance motor (SRM) is a prominent electrical machine for variable speed drive to minimize the overall cost of on-road traction motor applications. This machine has a few drawbacks: torque ripple and flux ripple. However, the classical Model Predictive control (MPC) model using torque and flux control state variables is more complex to predict the accurate value and can minimize cost function error as a result of high torque ripple. On the other hand, the existing MPC gives high torque ripples due to the improper selection of switching states techniques of the converter, which can result in high torque ripples. Therefore, this paper proposed a Model Predictive Current control (MPCC) using single current control variables without a weighting factor to mitigate torque ripple further. The cost function error can be minimized by selecting the converter's optimal switching state. The proposed strategy is verified and validated using MATLAB/Simulink. The detailed result discusses the response of torque, flux, and speed of SRM. The MPCC-operated SRM drive experimental results are shown to prove the effective minimization of torque ripples in the proposed MPCC. © 2023 ieee.

Handwritten digit recognition is a significant challenge in the field of machine learning, particularly for pattern recognition and computer vision applications. It has found applications in various areas, such as identifying digits on utility maps, postal mail zip codes, bank check amounts, and more. Offline handwritten digits possess distinct characteristics, including size, orientation, position, and thickness. Each person's handwriting is unique, making the classification process more difficult. Additionally, the high similarity between certain digits and the over fitting problem with high-dimensional data can increase computational time and cost. Consequently, numerous researchers have developed and implemented different machine learning algorithms to effectively address the issue of recognizing handwritten digits. This paper introduces a novel approach to improve the classification performance and accuracy of handwritten digit recognition. The proposed method utilizes an ensemble majority vote classifier, which combines three classifiers in each experiment by utilizing a range of different algorithms;Naïve Bayes (NB), Adaptive Boosting Algorithm (AdaBoost), K-Nearest Neighbors (K-NN), Multi-layer Perceptron Classifier (MLP), eXtreme Gradient Boosting algorithm (XGBoost), and Decision Tree Algorithm (DT) to form a single ensemble classifier. To validate the approach, we used the MINST free public handwritten dataset, to ascertain the classifier with the highest rate of accuracy in this study. The results obtained from the experiments demonstrated that the full performance of Ensemble model classifiers MLP, XGBOOST, and DT is superior to AdaBoost, K-NN, and NB. It achieved the highest accuracy level, reaching 98% in the experiment. The experimental results of this research showed that the recognition accuracy was improved compared to previous works. © 2023 ieee.

This paper presents the harnessing of solar energy using a two-stage grid-tied micro inverter with an isolated high gain DC-DC converter as first stage and a single-phase grid tied inverter as second stage. High gain converter is implemented using a quasi-switched boost network, switched capacitor topology and push-pull circuit. High frequency transformer in first stage improves gain and provides isolation between solar Photovoltaic (PV) circuit and grid connection which add safety margins. Micro inverter topology, control logic for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and H - bridge inverter is presented. The operation of a 250 V micro inverter is verified using MATLAB Simulink tool. © 2023 ieee.

Video Anomaly Localization techniques are interesting and emerging tasks in computer vision that is used to locate the position of an anomalous object with bounding boxes. Convolutional neural network-based object localization methods have been developed which detect and classify objects with high precision and accuracy. Many algorithms have been developed for object detection and localization with excellent outcomes. These algorithms are fast RCNN, faster RCNN, and YOLO. In this paper, a comprehensive analysis of faster RCNN and YOLO V3 algorithms for anomaly localization is performed based on the parameters FPS, mAP, Precision, Recall and F1 Score. © 2023 ieee.

Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) can adjust wave-front phase, frequency, amplitude, and polarization without radio frequency (RF) chains through passive reflections. IRS alters wireless communication channels with low energy consumption and boosts spectrum efficiency. The deployment of large number of inexpensive passive reflecting elements configures wireless channels to maximize system performance. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communication has garnered interest due to its high mobility, ease of integration with several technologies, and flexible deployment. However, UAV communication is sensitive to security concerns and obstacles in real-time applications. IRS combined with UAV will likely collaborate to attain unprecedented capabilities in difficult scenarios. Both IRS and UAV improve performance by active wireless propagation modification in 3D space using maneuver control and smart signal reflections. The manuscript also proposes different research ideas for IRS-assisted UAV communications towards the design of low-energy and low-cost smart applications. © 2024 ieee.

In these modern times, the Z-Source Inverters (ZSIs) has become a revolutionary invention ever since from the year 2002. The pulse-width modulation (PWM) technique used for most of the ZSIs is simple boost control PWM (SBC-PWM), the SBC-PWM implies for a greater voltage stress on the inverter bridge and provides less boost factor. Likewise, many topologies for the basic Z-source topologies are evolved and different PWM techniques are applied to them like maximum boost control (MBC), maximum boost control with third harmonic injection (MBC-THI), maximum constant boost control (MCBC), and constant boost control with third harmonic injection (CBC-THI). All these mentioned PWM techniques are compared and the converter opted in this paper is an Enhanced Ultra-High Gain active switched quasi-Z-Source Inverter [EUHG-qZSI]. The comparisons discussed in this brief are bridge stress, voltage gain and voltage boost variation under each control strategy implementation. The theoretical and simulation evaluation for the above findings is presented in this paper and the best PWM among them is Maximum Boost control (MBC). © 2023 ieee.

Information-Centric Networking (ICN) has gained attention as one of the next-generation internet architectures that focuses on the data being transmitted rather than the hosts transmitting it. Due to the differences between ICN and TCP/IP networks, it is not possible to evaluate the performance of ICN using network simulators designed for TCP/IP. A number of studies have been conducted to develop ICN network simulators. However, further acceleration of ICN network simulators is expected to enable large-scale ICN network performance evaluation. In this paper, we analyze the performance bottleneck of the flow-level ICN simulator called FICNSIM (Fluid-based ICNSIMulator) by profiling its performance using the Julia language source code. Specifically, we identify the processing that is causing the performance bottleneck of FICNSIM and investigate the scalability of FICNSIM with respect to network scale. © 2023 ieee.
