An improved high gain switched capacitors-based multilevel inverter (MLI) topology is developed for medium voltage and high-power applications. It consists of 13 unidirectional switches, a single dc source, and three capacitors for producing the 13-level output along with a sextuple voltage boost. The capacitors are self-balanced;hence, the circuit complexity is reduced, so there is no need for any auxiliary circuit or sensors. A simple and fundamental control strategy based on nearest-level pulse width modulation is applied to assess the viability of the proposed topology. Comparative analysis with other similar topologies verifies that the proposed circuit outperformed other topologies in terms of device count, cost function, power quality, and total standing voltage. The proposed topology viability is assessed under both static and dynamic loads. The losses across the components are calculated using thermal analysis in the PLECS. Results show that the topology works appropriately under different loading conditions. High boosted output and lower component count makes the proposed circuit suited for low voltage sources applications such as solar PV applications. © 2023 ieee.

Precise and stable coherent optical frequency transfer over long-haul fiber link is required by diverse scientific applications, such as large-scale optical clock networks, global positioning and timing, very-long baseline interferometry, and high-sensitivity tests of fundamental physics. To meet the needs of the above applications, active compensation schemes for cancelling fiber-induced phase noise has developed considerably over the past ten years. However, optical signal severely reduces across distant fiber-optic networks, which degrades optical beat signal and feedback ***, we adopt active phase compensation and bidirectional optical frequency locking to achieve ultra-stable optical carrier transfer. The phase noise of the fiber link is effectively suppressed, meanwhile, the ultra-stable optical frequency signal is regenerated accurately at the remote *** experiment over 100 km fiber link indicates that the additional frequency stability exhibits 1.9×10-16 and 2.5×10-17 at an averaging time of 1 s and 100 s, respectively. This approach has a capacity of extending to the parallel transfer of microwave and optical frequency, and free-space optical frequency transfer. © 2023 ieee.

Multilevel inverters are superior to conventional two level inverters in high and medium power industrial applications. A hybrid multilevel inverter control is proposed to mitigate the harmonic distortions in the output phase voltage waveforms of induction motor drives. An open-ended induction motor fed with a neutral point clamped three level main inverter on one side and a two level inverter with a floating capacitor on the other side is proposed. The two level inverter is switched to act as a series active filter with null active power supply to the motor, while the three level inverter is pulsed using space vector modulation technique. Thus, the two level inverter will cancel out the voltage distortions in the motor phase voltages. With this configuration, the motor phase voltage harmonic distortions are within the ieee 519 standards, thereby improving the drive efficiency and motor life-span. The proposed system is simulated and collated with three level neutral point clamped inverter and dual inverter fed open-ended induction motor drive and found to have better harmonic performance. © 2023 ieee.

In response to the escalating demand for machine learning techniques capable of handling real-time data streams, particularly in applications like stock markets, this research dives deep into the domain of stream regression. The objective is to adeptly navigate challenges posed by evolving data over time, differentiating it from conventional static regression. Existing models, such as Fast and Incremental Model Trees with Drift Detection (FIMT-DD), k-Nearest Neighbours (KNN), and Adaptive Linear Regression (ALR) and some other studies, though competent, exhibit certain limitations like learning based on certain portions of data, using a significantly large memory and not capable of handling each data in every timestamp it arrives. We propose the Dynamically Adjustable Linear Regression Model (DALR) to address these shortcomings. DALR introduces an adaptive regression model that dynamically evolves based on historical knowledge and newly acquired data, providing an innovative solution to the intricacies of dynamic data streams. This endeavor has also highlighted that the DALR algorithm consistently demonstrates strong performance across various datasets according to the RMSE metric, surpassing other state-of -the-art algorithms in most instances. © 2024 ieee.

In the contemporary security landscape, the incorporation of photonics has emerged as a transformative force, unlocking a spectrum of possibilities to enhance the resilience and effectiveness of security primitives. This integration represents more than a mere technological augmentation;it signifies a paradigm shift towards innovative approaches capable of delivering security primitives with key properties for low-power systems. This not only augments the robustness of security frameworks, but also paves the way for novel strategies that adapt to the evolving challenges of the digital age. This paper discusses the security layers and related services that will be developed, modeled, and evaluated within the Horizon Europe NEUROPULS project. These layers will exploit novel implementations for security primitives based on physical unclonable functions (PUFs) using integrated photonics technology. Their objective is to provide a series of services to support the secure operation of a neuromorphic photonic accelerator for edge computing applications.

Municipal solid waste (MSW) has characteristics such as large component differences and unstable calorific value. Flame combustion automatic state identification is beneficial for achieving stable control of the MSW incineration (MSWI) process in terms of feedback control. The industrial site usually recognizes the combustion state based on the visual perception mechanism of domain experts' experience. Based on the widely application of convolutional neural network (CNN) in the field of image recognition, this article chooses Lenet-5 as the recognition model of flame combustion state recognition. In order to obtain an appropriate CNN model to automatically extract flame image features, the influence of multiple CNN networks on flame image feature is designed and tested. The optimal structure setting of the CNN network is obtained. This study can provide support for practical applications in industrial sites. © 2023 ieee.

Surface metallization of Silicon Nanowires (Si NWs) is a critical preparation technology for surface functionalization in biochemical sensing applications. Conventional metallization approaches rely on resist lift-off or non-selective protocols, which can lead to contamination and device damage. This work demonstrates a selective and resist-free surface metallization of suspended Si NW in a 3D device architecture via gold stencil lithography (SL). The approach involves control of the stencil-device gap via a thickness-controlled spacer, fabricated onto the stencil, to characterize and minimize geometrical blurring. The approach also prevents potential stencil-device contact-induced damage to suspended Si NW during SL. A significant improvement in spatial resolution for selective metallization onto NW is achieved compared to the state-of-the-art. Additionally, using the proposed approach with spacer thickness control, miniaturization of the stencil aperture dimensions to nanoscale raises the potential for selective metallization of Si NW down to sub-1 μ m in-plane spatial resolution for highly sensitive biochemical sensor applications. © 2023 ieee.

The development of smart contract has extended the usage of blockchain technology from a simple ledger database for decentralized cash transaction system into a platform that provides transaction intelligence, and further into a multifunctional state-sharing running platform for designing dependable decentralized applications. However, most current fast-booming blockchain platforms keep bringing new fashion features, which will bring the cost of breaking changes between different releases of the platform. This can be a barrier for developers especially beginners to start their development. To resolve such issue, in this work, we introduce a smart contract development platform called DevLeChain, which comes with unified access method, easy-to-understand development workflow, and constant design philosophy. DevLeChain can provide an easy toolset to customize and control the underlying blockchain's behavior, whereby developers can easily start developing blockchain-based systems. Also, the provided smart contract automation testing tools allow developers to quickly realize their code.

In present days, the reconfigurable antenna is a key element in wireless communication transceivers because it can operate in multiple bands, wherein the complete antenna space can be reused, leading to reduced overall size. This paper presents a reconfigurable T -shaped antenna tuned by control Radio Frequency (RF) switches. The antenna design, simulation, and measurement succeeded with an aperture area of 13*23 mm2 and obtained stable radiation patterns. This antenna is suitable to operate in (3 GHz to 10.5 GHz) for Cognitive Radio and Natural Sciences applications such as military applications, mid-band 5G, X-band satellite communication, study of earth resources, forecasting of atmospheric conditions and Precision agricultural systems. © 2023 ieee.

The rapid development of Large Language Models (LLMs) facilitates the application of robotics, especially for robotic control. LLM-based robots are a way to realize embodied intelligence, but they still lack a general control paradigm to achieve embodied robot. We propose LAC (LLM-based Agents as the controller), a new formulation to enable embodied robots to autonomously react to high-level tasks like humans. Specifically, the controller in LAC is LLM-based agents that can plan, decompose tasks and make decisions based on linguistic input. Two agents operate in parallel within the controller to replicate both instinctive reaction and deep consideration. The output of the controller consists of linguistic parameters that activate task-specific tools, enabling autonomous execution of low-level actions. LAC translates multi-modal feedback information into linguistic messages, which are then transmitted back to the controller to establish a closed-loop control flow. Once equipped with appropriate tools, the proposed LAC can be applied across various applications. A straightforward simulated office task, TASK0, illustrates the successful completion of the embodied task by LAC. Furthermore, testing five comparative LLMs on TASK0 also demonstrates that LAC serves as a potential test platform for validating the capability of LLMs to function as the cognitive center of embodied robots. © 2024 ieee.
