This paper investigates the design requirements for GaN power devices and digital DC/DC power supply for space power applications, including blocking voltage level, heat resistance, anti-irradiation capability, etc. Designed and validated a single event effect (SEE) capability of up to 75MeVcm2/mg for radiation hardened GaN devices by using double heterojunction structure and filed plate to increasing breakdown voltage and reducing gate leakage current. A radiation-hardened GaN DC/DC is proposed based on an independently-developed high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) which is suitable for satellite electrical power distribution system. The DC/DC adopts a buck-boost and LLC topology to achieve a wide input range. Using techniques such as ZVS, transformer optimization, and dedicated wiring, the switching frequency is 3Mhz, the output power is within 200W, and the efficiency is 85.7%. Considering the high reliable requirements of space, thermal and radiation tests were conducted to verify its correctness. Compared with traditional Si-based DC/DC using in satellite electrical power distribution system, GaN-based DC/DC has significant improvements in power density and output efficiency, making it suitable for miniaturized and lightweight satellite power distribution system applications. Finally, design improvement ideas are proposed to provide support for space applications. © 2023 ieee.

The application flow integrity plays a critical role in proper system behavior. Unfortunately, taking over the control of the flow is still difficult to detect. We evaluate the performance of hardware support for the application flow integrity control. A solution is based on platform capabilities and is said to overcome existing limitations met in similar systems. Our results show that overhead is acceptable and with minimal effort, the solution can be successfully used in practical applications.

Yield enhancement is recognized as an ultimate challenge to reducing production costs in semiconductor smart manufacturing (SSM), although there are intrinsic challenges, especially reliable yield diagnosis and prognosis, and understanding the confounding factor in a complex condition, among others. This study proposes a domain-specific explainable automated machine learning (termed xAutoML) to self-learn the optimal models for yield prediction, with an extent of explainability, and also provide insights on key diagnosis factors. The xAutoML integrates the main problem-solving functionalities in an auto-optimization pipeline, and each functionality is designed to fit the domain challenges. Firstly, to capture the key diagnosis factors, knowledge-informed feature extraction and model-agnostic key feature selection are designed. Secondly, combined algorithm selection and hyperparameter tuning with adaptive loss are developed to deliver the optimized classifiers for better defect prediction, as well as adaptively updating according to pattern shift. Moreover, a series of explainable manners are provided throughout the AutoML pipeline, aiming to offer proper information for better understandability and trust. Compared with existing general-purpose AutoML solutions, the proposed xAutoML is domain-specific optimized with targeted countermeasure designs to achieve better performance, auto-optimization, and explainability, which is promising for practical semiconductor yield enhancement, defect diagnosis, and related applications. © 2024 ieee.

Natural gas, as an important clean energy source, has become increasingly prevalent in heating applications in recent years. Accurate forecasting of natural gas consumption during the heating season is crucial for ensuring heating safety and energy supply. This paper develops a model based on Prophet+XGBoost to forecast natural gas consumption for the heating season. The Prophet model captures the time series characteristics of gas consumption, including trend, seasonality, holiday effects, and error terms. The XGBoost model then corrects the error terms predicted by Prophet, enhancing overall forecast accuracy. Using a city in central-southern China as a case study, the model achieved an average absolute percentage error (MAPE) of only 2.39% and a coefficient of determination (R2) of 94.24% for the 2024 heating season. Comparisons with other single and combined models show that the Prophet+XGBoost combination excels across all evaluation metrics, significantly outperforming other models. This study provides strong support for natural gas companies in optimizing supply chain management and inventory control, reducing the risk of supply shortages during the heating season, and offers a basis for developing reasonable pricing strategies and marketing plans. © 2024 ieee.

With the increasing energy crisis and the continuous improvement of energy utilization efficiency, the energy storage elevator as a new type of energy-saving and environmentally friendly transportation has received widespread attention. In this context, a hybrid T-type three-level dual active bridge (HT3L-DAB) converter for energy-saving elevator systems is proposed. Compared with traditional DAB converters, aT-type three-level circuit structure is introduced, which increases the degree of control freedom and reduces voltage stress on switches. Compared with hybrid neutral point clamped three-level dual active bridge (HN3L-DAB) converters, it does not need clamping diode, reduces the loss of passive components, and improves the conversion efficiency of the system to a certain extent. In this paper, the topology, operating principle, and operating mode of the HT3L-DAB converter are introduced. Finally, the feasibility of the converter and the correctness of the theoretical analysis are proved by a simulation model with a maximum transmission power of 16 kW. © 2024 ieee.

The interplay of brain signals and the Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging area. The processing of electroencephalographic (EEG) signals is mainly divided into two categories: (1) signal analysis for diagnosis and (2) brain-computer interfaces that can control devices through brain signals. Some applications of EEG are early detection of seizures, wheelchair control, and smart homes. Processing EEG is a complex task that requires expertise in fields such as neuroscience and computer science. There are frameworks to facilitate EEG processing, such as MNE-Python. Utilizing distributed and parallel processing is crucial in dealing with large-scale EEG data or when requiring scalable models. We have looked into platforms like WeBrain and a Spark-based framework to understand their capabilities for the issue. Based on our findings, we suggest a cloud framework. It supports the main features of previous works. It includes EEG processing capability using common machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) approaches based on the user's required action paradigm. Since it is possible to run some trained models on limited resources devices in fog computing, an IoT device with caching capability is proposed to send and receive data. Collaboration and data sharing among users are made possible in this system. © 2023 ieee.

The Nested Neutral Point Clamped (NNPC) converter, functioning as a voltage source Converter (VSC), provides an effective solution for applications requiring Medium-Voltage and High-Power (MVHP). Earlier implementations of this converter typically required many sensors to maintain capacitor voltages equally in all series Half-Bridge Sub-Modules (HB-SMs). This research introduces two methodologies to minimize sensor requirements for computing capacitor voltages using novel algorithms based on estimation methods. These strategies simplify the converter control procedure by eliminating individual current and voltage sensors specified for HB-SMs. The proposed approaches ensure precise voltage balance with minimal estimation error by continuously adjusting capacitor voltages using estimated values from previous iterations and switching signals. Extensive MATLAB Simulink tests verify the effectiveness of these techniques across diverse practical scenarios. The results highlight significant simplification of sensor complexity while maintaining strong performance in NNPC Converter applications, emphasizing the importance of sensor implementation in the cost and operational effectiveness of VSCs. © 2025 ieee.

In conventional setups, power factor correction (PFC) for wireless power transfer systems typically involves utilizing a boost converter. However, this article introduces a novel approach by proposing primary side converter phase shift control for power factor correction in bidirectional wireless power transfer applications. The primary phase shift angle in this approach is responsible for regulating the battery charging current/voltage within the Series-series compensated Wireless bidirectional Power Transfer (BDWPT) system. The innovative primary side phase shift control eliminates the need for chopper/boost converter circuits for PFC, streamlining the circuit complexity. Additionally, the bidirectional power flow becomes feasible with the phase-synchronized converter. These systems integrate various functionalities, including PFC, current shaping, Total Harmonic Distortion, and power management, all under a single control mechanism based on duty-cycle control that operates in close proximity to the resonance frequency. The BDWPT system is meticulously designed and simulated using the MATLAB/Simulink model. Also, the experimental investigations are performed to validate the developed model. © 2023 ieee.

Biometric identification is the study of physiological and behavioral attributes of an individual's to identify the identity of the persons. The human ear, a recent development in biometrics, has several advantages over face, fingerprint, and iris biometrics. In the modern era, biometric technology is becoming increasingly popular for use in security and other applications. Theft and identity fraud are now major issues all over the world. To prevent these thefts and identity fraud, an ear recognition system must be installed. This paper's goal is to develop an ear-based security access control application. To achieve high accuracy and effectiveness, the training and identification processes are carried out using Python and the Raspberry Pi. According to the analysis, it has better efficiency and it can be used for a variety of applications, including ear detection. © 2023 ieee.
