Recent advancements in Cooperative Adaptive Cruise control (CACC) technologies allows equipped vehicles to travel with much shorter headways on freeways, increasing freeway capacity and reducing fuel consumption. The technology, augmented by the capabilities made available through the connected vehicles framework, has opened the door for many significant developments in traffic management and controlapplications. In this paper, we present a novel multi-agent system approach to resolve conflicts based on a token-based dynamic priority index (PI) concept. Experimental results showed the ability of agents to adapt and form high performance streams in a connected vehicle environment as an emerging behavior.

A recent increase in mobile and IoT devices has led to the advancement of wireless charging. The state-of-the-art wireless charging systems operate at a particular frequency, controlled by the explicit networking from the power-receiving device (which relays the battery status information, useful for the frequency selection), but such control is not designed to cope with the variations in the power-receiving device's placements and alignments (which are more significant in near-field and pseudo-tightly coupled charging applications, as more charging pads are being deployed in the public domains and serving heterogeneous clients). In this work, we analyze the impact of the power transfer performance caused by the power receiver's load, distance, and coil alignment/overlap and introduce cognitive wireless charger (CWC), which adaptively controls the operating frequency in real-time using implicit feedback from sensing for optimal operations. In addition to the theoretical and LTSpice-based simulation analysis, we build a prototype compatible to the Qi standard and analyze the performance of CWC with it. Through our analyses, we establish that frequency control achieves performance gains in inductive-coupling charging applications and is sensitive to the variations in the placement and alignment between the power-transmitting and the power receiving coils. Our prototype, when CWC is turned off, has comparable performance to the commercial-grade Qi wireless chargers and, with CWC enabled, demonstrates significant improvement over modern wireless chargers.

Recently automobile control programs have so many conditional branches and are too gigantic to detect the details of systems. It is critical problem that automobile control program, in particular engine control program, has unclear part of systems. So we need a new method to analyze algorithms mathematically and automatically. In this paper, we propose "Visualization of software" on the perspective to analyze those gigantic codes. Now there is the preceding research, which can create map surface by applying Mixed Logical Dynamics (MLD) Systems to software. We apply this method to Engine control systems, and draw "trajectory" which represents dynamics of engine parameter. Ethernet based fieldbus systems have been successfully introduced into industrial automation, and they are included on modern designs that demand features of conformance and integrated development. Function Blocks (FBs) allow encapsulating different levels of complexity, so that the control engineer can use these kind of buses, hiding some of these levels. This paper illustrates the advantages of FBs through a case of study, based on IEC 61499 standard, and supported by COSME platform. These advantages are: 1) easy design of complex systems by means of a network of function blocks;2) easy evolution of a design by the change of a technology. In this case, the change is the introduction of the EtherCAT field bus. To do that, new FBs needed for the design are presented.
