This paper introduces a universal modulation technique (UMT) for the bidirectional dual-active-bridge (DAB) converter that is supplied by a quasi-hybrid input (AC or DC). The presented UMT is versatile, adaptable, working smoothly with any inputs, and capable of supplying or drawing power for AC or DC grid. Out of eight high-frequency switches of DAB, the presented modulation eliminates turn-ON loss for all switches and turn-OFF loss for six switches. It is easy to realize due to the single control variable, offering power factor correction (PFC) during grid-to-vehicle (G2V). To realize this modulation technique, a quasi-single-stage (QS(2)) bidirectional DAB is selected which can operate in AC-to-DC or DC-to-DC mode. Further, to implement the UMT, two configurations for the QS 2 DAB are presented: one features a single port serving both AC and DC inputs, while the other includes two separate ports with power relay. For quasi-hybrid input, a control scheme applicable to both configurations with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and G2V features is discussed. Additionally, design criteria are presented considering the real-world rating. The proposed idea has been tested and verified using a scaled-down prototype of 630 W.

Based on fully actuated technology, a sliding mode control approach is suggested for helicopter systems with all degrees of freedom. First, the degree of nonlinearity and coupling is lessened by applying the feedback linearization technique. And the helicopter systems transform into fully actuated systems. Secondly, a sliding mode controller is built with the assumption of system stability in order to achieve the intended tracking task. Third, the reliability of complete closed-loop structures is investigated using Lyapunov theory. Finally, this work presents simulation data to validate the effectiveness of the designed control technique.

Ultrasonic guided waves are widely used signals in industry, but their inherent dispersion and multimodal characteristics significantly impact practical applications. Considering the frequency-dependent nature of guided wave signals, this paper proposes a Fourier-based convolutional autoencoder (FCAE) algorithm for dispersion compensation in ultrasonic guided wave signals, thoroughly investigating its practical application in handling ultrasonic guided wave signals. The neural network model combines the time-frequency analysis characteristics of Fourier bases and the nonlinear mapping capability of neural networks to learn the time of flight (TOF) of guided wave modes. Through this approach, the model successfully eliminates phase distortion and energy leakage caused by Lamb wave dispersion in guided wave signals, thereby significantly improving the quality and interpretability of the signals. The proposed Fourier-based neural network model's effectiveness in dispersion compensation is validated through simulation experiments, providing robust support for further applications of ultrasonic guided wave technology.

This paper presents a control method of fully digital active gate drivers to simultaneously realize surge voltage reduction and efficiency enhancement in a three-phase inverter for motor drive applications. Generally, the surge voltages of power devices in each switching are affected by the operation principle of the three-phase current values and phases. In the proposed method, the active gate driving patterns of fully six gate drivers are suitably changed according to the phase angle of the three-phase current to minimize the highest surge voltage and the switching loss in a fundamental period. A prototype of the three-phase inverter using a 6-in-1 SiC power module and six digital active gate driver ICs was developed to verify the improvement effect of the proposed active gate control. It was experimentally shown that the surge voltage could be reduced from 418.6 V to 369.4 V, fixing a high efficiency.

This paper presents an alternative architecture for a plasma Vertical Stabilization system, which is based on Extremum Seeking (ES) algorithm. The proposed solution relies on a bounded version of this algorithm, which is extended with an event-based gain adaption mechanism, in order to improve the overall performance when a switching power supply feeds the control circuit. To show the effectiveness of the proposed architecture, the case study of the ITER tokamak is considered.
