Risk is the potential for realization of undesirable consequences of an event. In other words, risk can be defined as the threat or probability that an action or event will adversely or beneficially affect an organization's ability to achieve its objectives. Implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) projects are always accompanied by various risks and because of high rate of failure in such projects, managing of the risks in order to neutralize or at least decrease their effects on the success of the project is strongly essential. In this paper it is introduced a two stage Fuzzy Neural Network (FNN) which includes expertise to evaluate risk of ERP projects implementation. 18 risk factors are concluded from literature and for each of them two linguistic variables are considered: the probability of failure and the severity of impact. These variables are the inputs of first stage of the proposed FNN. The outputs of first stage, which are also the inputs of second stage, are values of ERP risk factors. Eventually, output of second stage is total risk of implementation of ERP project and it is derived from a feed-forward neural network. The architecture of the proposed framework and the development procedure are discussed, and numerical examples are provided.

programs are aimed at achieving long term objectives that create value to stakeholders. They consist of a portfolio of projects, each of which aims at achieving specific sub- goals. A program emerges as a system of systems (SoS) when these projects are connected in a systemic way to accomplish program objectives. This entails that programs have an architecture that defines how the various projects interact to accomplish the overall objectives. Current program management approaches, however, largely treat programs as a collection of projects that are managed operationally to optimize outcomes at each level, rather than as a system to be architected. This paper develops a systemic architecture for programs in terms of three interconnected facets: value realization, program construction and program execution, and highlights the role of program worldview in this. Each of these facets brings out some aspects of the way in which projects relate to each other within a program. We propose an iterative framework in which models are developed for addressing each facet, but there is also an overall structure of activity and information flows that facilitates interplay and co- evolution of the models. The result is a holistic approach to managing programs as a system of systems, at a level over and above project management.

This talk discusses how agile methods can be used for managing high-risk, time-sensitive R&D-oriented new product development (NPD) projects with demanding customers and fast-changing market conditions. It establishes the context, provides a definition, and describes the value-system for lean and agile project management. It provides a brief survey of popular lean and agile project management approaches and illustrates the mechanisms for scaling the lean and agile project management model up to large-scale, distributed projects. It also illustrates a few key agile project management case studies as well as basic, burnup/burndown, cost estimating, business value, earned value management, and advanced metrics for agile methods including real options. Finally, this talk addresses the critical differences between agile and traditional non-agile project management paradigms, as well as the debate surrounding the pros and cons of agile certification.

The possibility for market participants to place their bids in all the markets of an interconnection irrespective of where they are physically connected is investigated in this paper. A mechanism is proposed for managing the resulting congestion. It consists in iteratively sharing the transmission line capacities between the different market operators based each time on their present schedules. The algorithm is applied on a small test system. The results are assessed in terms of their property of being Nash equilibria and of their distance of the set of Pareto optimal operating points.

With the development of restructured power systems and increase of prices in some hours of day and increase fuel price, demand response programs were noticed more by customers. demand response consists of a series of activities that governments or utilities design to change the amount or time of electric energy consumption, to achieve better social welfare or some times for maximizing the benefits of utilities or consumers In this paper the effect of emergency demand response program on composite system reliability of a deregulated power system is evaluated using an economic load model. AC power-flow-based load curtailment cost function and reliability evaluation techniques. In this paper for calculation the reliability indexes, the Emergency Demand Response Program (EDRP) cost is considered and in each contingency state, the EDRP cost with the customer load curtailment cost is compared and the load appropriate value is selected for load shedding or participating in EDRP. In the next stage, the system and nodal reliability indexes are calculated. To investigate the impact of EDRP activity on composite reliability of restructured power systems the ieee 6 bus Roy Billinton Test system is utilized. According to obtained results, EDRP using lead to increasing nodal and system reliability. It can be said that solving problems such as congestion in transmission lines, power system reliability decrease at load network peak hours, is impossible without customer interfering in power market. In other hand Consumer participation, makes the power markets more competition and enhance its performance.

This is an annual workshop where participants will be engaged in proven strategies and techniques for writing engineering education proposals to and managing projects for programs such as, but not limited to, the National Science Foundation (NSF) divisions of Undergraduate Education (DUE) and Engineering Education and Centers (EEC). Through active discussions, collaboration, and sharing of experiences, participants step through an actual Request for Proposals (RFP) as they learn how to a. analyze a program announcement/solicitation, b. align their project ideas with program goals, c. identify relevant prior work, and d. craft responsive engineering education proposals. Participants will also look forward to receipt of an award and learn how to effectively manage an on-going project with due attention to budgeting, evaluation, sustainability, and reporting requirements. Discussion topics will range from the basic NSF requirements to the fine points of writing or using graphical representations to catch a reviewer's attention. Some advice comes directly from NSF program directors and grantees including tips on writing in a way that allows reviewers to quickly and easily read and understand your proposal. Finally, the engineering education research agenda will be presented and discussed. Workshop participants will receive a new handbook, fusing attention to research, engineering education, and project management into a seamless whole. The handbook and workshop build upon guidance developed by NSF program officers and grantees. This workshop is being offered as a project of the Center for the Advancement of Scholarship on Engineering Education (CASEE) of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) consistent with its emphasis on enhancing excellence in engineering education including education research.

Formal MOT (management of technology) education programs have boomed in the past year after a long period of fermentation. The coming of MOT education provides an additional approach for Japanese firms and industries to revitalize their global competitive advantages that have eroded in the past ten years. This paper analyzes the back-ground of this phenomenon and explores basic driving forces behind it. On the one hand, firms and industry have need for creative professionals in identifying opportunities in emerging technology, planning proper projects and leading timely actions for selected targets; on the other hand, government has a strong desire to create dynamic venturing business by supporting suitable education programs for supplying needed talents. Japan is experiencing a fundamental paradigm shift from technology follower to front-runner in many industries. Firms operating in the new paradigm require workers with different capabilities than those demanded in the previous paradigm. However, the current education system for technology management has failed to provide the requisite creativity and leadership. Needed today are leaders who can generate creative product concepts, formulate strategies to realize those concepts, and implement the chosen strategy; these are the so-called "techno-producers", the concept of which was proposed earlier by Kameoka. Under most circumstances, these key persons do not appear spontaneously. Rather an education system that provides formal training in management is needed to systematically supply these innovators, who later may become techno-producers, especially in high-tech and high-growth industries.

Accelerator development and construction projects often intentionally push the envelope of well-established technical performance and manageable complexity. In addition, the desire for efficient retention and exploitation of accumulated experience across the multi-decade life cycles of major installations calls for a robust yet user-friendly knowledge management system. To meet these needs, we are deploying a new web-based system at Jefferson Lab: Pansophy. This system is a custom integration of several commercial software utilities, DocuShare™, ColdFusion™, Matlab™, Ingres™, and common desktop programs. Users of the system range from process managers, shop-floor technicians, and test engineers to after-the-fact data miners and operations staff. The system integrates important quality assurance elements of procedural control, automated data accumulation into a secured central database, prompt and reliable data query and retrieval, and online analysis tools, all accessed by users via their platform-independent web browsers. A system overview, a completed pilot project, and implementation experience to date will be presented.
