Designing a hybrid vehicle powertrain remains a complex task. To explore the entire design space, tools are developed to search the architecture topology level. Considering that a methodology could generate all the possible graphs of architectures using a certain amount of components, the issue is then the assessment of these architectures. This paper proposes an automatic assessment method to tackle this issue. A specifically developed general hybrid model is developed. It calculates the fuel consumption of all the architectures generated by an upper level of architecture generation that provides for each architecture a description of the modes available and the connections between the components. Based on this information and on the component characteristics, a specific Dynamic programming method allows to find the optimal energy management of the architectures leading to the minimum fuel consumption on a given driving cycle.

The nervous systems of animals exhibit complex recurrent topologies. These networks often show key properties like small-worldness and clustering, forming a complex hierarchical topology that is very different from many standard random graphs. Current machine learning techniques are dominated by feed-forward networks without recurrent connectivity, or specialized architectures for gated recurrent connectivity (such as Long-Short Term Memory networks). Reservoir computing networks, such as echo state networks, represent an exciting alternative form of recurrent networks, which require limited training data compared to other recurrent networks. Echo state networks, however, typically use randomized network topologies. We introduce a novel reservoir computing network, with a hierarchical network structure inspired by organization of biological networks, utilizing hierarchical stochastic block models. We demonstrate the use of this network for predicting dynamic system evolution, and we compare this network to existing echo state network topologies. We find that the best performing networks utilize our new topology, and, for Mackey-Glass system prediction as well as MNIST classification, the overall distribution of solutions is improved. For the Mackey-Glass system, the median population NRMSE improved from 0.856 to 0.08, and for MNIST the median population accuracy increased from 92.5% to 96.8%. This may be preliminary indication of improving network function through changing network topology. The spectral radii of the produced HSBM topologies do not always obey the echo state property, and we show that both the spectral radius as well as common graph metrics do not predict the best performing networks. This argues for further investigation into the structural properties of high performing networks utilizing reservoir computing.

The total number of cores on a single chip is increased due to the rapidly decreasing size of transistors. In order to meet the performance demands of these designs, many designers prefer to use three-dimensional network-on-chips (3D-NoCs). These designs are good alternatives to traditional mesh structures since they consume less energy, ensure better performance, and need less area. However, new design algorithms are needed to map a given application to 3D-NoCs. In this paper, we propose an Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) based method for mapping application cores to the 3D-NoC architectures. We represent each possible solution with a different food source which produces a computed energy consumption. We aim to reduce the total energy consumption of the system. We compare our results against an existing study through several multimedia benchmarks in terms of the total energy consumption of the system. Our proposed approach produces comparable results in less time to an integer linear programming (ILP) based model which generates the optimum solution in a very long time. © 2023 ieee.

network slicing techniques are paramount for the operation of commercial networks, as the 5G networks community widely accepts them. These techniques allow the creation of multiple virtual networks on top of a physical network to isolate the traffic and guarantee the applications' requirements. These will allow the deployment of more tailored use cases, such as disaggregated services and specific highly consuming multimedia services. Therefore, several network slicing techniques are proposed in this paper to obtain traffic isolation in a 5G infrastructure. Specifically, edge and cloud architectures and alternatives to traditional network stack protocols are considered in the proposed solutions when slicing their virtual networks. Moreover, this paper describes which use cases are the most suitable for each proposed network slicing technique.

Blockchains require deterministic execution in order to reach consensus. This is often guaranteed in languages designed to write smart contracts, such as Solidity. Application-specific blockchains or "appchains" allow the blockchain application logic to be written using general-purpose programming languages, giving developers more flexibility but also additional responsibilities. In particular, developers must ensure that their blockchain application logic does not contain any sources of non-determinism. Any source of non-determinism may be a potential source of vulnerabilities. This paper focuses on the use of Static Application Security Testing (SAST) tools to detect such sources of non-determinism at development time. We focus on Cosmos, a prominent open-source project that lets developers build interconnected networks of application-specific blockchains. Cosmos provides a Software Development Kit (SDK) that allows these chains to be implemented in the Go programming language. We create a corpus of 11 representative Cosmos-based appchains to analyze for sources of non-determinism in Go. As part of our study, we identified cosmos-sdk-codeql, a set of CodeQL code analysis rules for Cosmos applications. We find that these rules generate many false positives and propose a refactored set of rules that more precisely detects sources of non-determinism only in code that runs as part of the blockchain logic. We demonstrate a significant increase in the precision of the rules, making the SAST tool more effective and hence potentially contributing to enhanced security for Cosmos-based blockchains.

This paper introduces the application layer's solutions to the distributed servers, establishes improvement policy processes, and uses advanced technologies, such as open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA), Industrial Gateway Server (IGS), Application programming Interface (API), etc., to integrate the original distributed hosts into a single new version monitoring platform with centralized architecture that is easy to achieve the goals of easy maintenance, low update cost and enhanced information security deployment. The carbon footprint and information deployment cost are only 35.47% and 9.86% of those before improvement respectively, making an important contribution to improving information efficiency. © 2024 ieee.

To reduce the environmental impact of port carbon emissions and promote the sustainable development of ports, this paper proposes a port distributed energy management strategy considering the charging and discharging of unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) under the polymorphic network. Firstly, taking into account the trend of continuous automation of ports, data centers are used to meet the ports' growing computing power needs. A data center power consumption calculation model considering data processing delay constraints is proposed. Secondly, taking the port microgrid operating cost, the main grid electricity purchase or sales cost, carbon cost, data center operating cost and USVs charging and discharging cost as objective functions, a port distributed energy management model considering USVs charging and discharging is established. Then, a distributed algorithm based on mixed integer linear programming is proposed to solve the problem. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2024 ieee.

Visual servoing of robot manipulators can be viewed as an optimization problem and recurrent neural network is widely accepted as a powerful tool for solving optimization problems. Inspired by this, an adaptive neural network method is proposed for image-based visual servoing (IBVS) with uncertain parameters. It is the first work focused on IBVS simultaneously considering the uncertain camera configuration parameters and uncertain kinematics of robot manipulators in the framework of recurrent neural networks. Theoretical analysis including convergence and stability of the proposed method is presented. In order to verify the effectiveness of the theoretical results and the portability of the proposed method, simulations are conducted on different robot manipulators for different tracking tasks with excellent performance. In addition, comparisons with control schemes employing traditional gradient neural network (GNN), Kalman filter (KF) and model-based recurrent neural network highlight the great advantages of the proposed control system.

We present a scalable methodology for the agile physical design of tile-based heterogeneous system-on-chip (SoC) architectures that simplifies the reuse and integration of open-source hardware components. The methodology leverages the regularity of the on-chip communication infrastructure, which is based on a multi-plane network-on-chip (NoC), and the modularity of socket interfaces, which connect the tiles to the NoC. Each socket also provides its tile with a set of platform services, including independent clocking and voltage control. As a result, the physical design of each tile can be decoupled from its location in the top-level floorplan of the SoC and the overall SoC design can benefit from a hierarchical timing-closure flow, design reuse and, if necessary, fast respin. With the proposed methodology we completed two SoC tapeouts of increasing complexity, which illustrate its capabilities and the resulting gains in terms of design productivity.

Static analyzers have become increasingly popular both as developer tools and as subjects of empirical studies. Whereas static analysis tools exist for disparate programming languages, the bulk of the empirical research has focused on the popular Java programming language. In this paper, we investigate to what extent some known results about using static analyzers for Java change when considering C#-another popular object-oriented language. To this end, we combine two replications of previous Java studies. First, we study which static analysis tools are most widely used among C# developers, and which warnings are more commonly reported by these tools on open-source C# projects. Second, we develop and empirically evaluate EagleRepair: a technique to automatically fix code in response to static analysis warnings;this is a replication of our previous work for Java [20]. Our replication indicates, among other things, that 1) static code analysis is fairly popular among C# developers too;2) ReSharper is the most widely used static analyzer for C#;3) several static analysis rules are commonly violated in both Java and C# projects;4) automatically generating fixes to static code analysis warnings with good precision is feasible in C#. The EagleRepair tool developed for this research is available as open source.
