Although the use of APIs (Application programming Interfaces) in software program development can effectively improve development efficiency, developers still need to spend more time in finding suitable APIs. To improve the overall development efficiency, many API recommendation approaches have been proposed. However, they could not make good use of the information in the source code, especially for the structural information. The PDG (Program Dependence Graph) of source code can contain both syntactic and structural information, which can be great representations of the source code. Based on the PDG, we propose a new approach, called JARST (Java API Recommendation combining Structural with Textual code information), which recommends the appropriate APIs by analyzing the structure information and text information of the source code. The JARST approach uses a graph neural network to learn source code structure information of PDG and uses a multi-modal approach to learn the text information in the source code. Finally, we combine the structural and textual information of the source code to implement API recommendations. We collect 625 open source Java projects from Github as our experimental objects. The experimental results show that JARST can provide accurate APIs to help software developers facilitate development activities. Moreover, it performs better than the cutting-edge studies including APIRes-CST and APIREC with higher top-k accuracy values. In detail, the improvement achieves up to 35.3%.

Responding to network security incidents requires interference with ongoing attacks to restore the security of services running on production systems. This approach prevents damage, but drastically impedes the collection of threat intelligence and the analysis of vulnerabilities, exploits, and attack strategies. We propose the live confinement of suspicious microservices into a sandbox network that allows to monitor and analyze ongoing attacks under quarantine and that retains an image of the vulnerable and open production network. A successful sandboxing requires that it happens completely transparent to and cannot be detected by an attacker. Therefore, we introduce a novel metric to measure the Quality of Deception (QoD) and use it to evaluate three proposed network deception mechanisms. Our evaluation results indicate that in our evaluation scenario in best case, an optimal QoD is achieved. In worst case, only a small downtime of approx. 3s per microservice (MS) occurs and thus a momentary drop in QoD to 70.26% before it converges back to optimum as the quarantined services are restored.

FPGAs are very attractive to accelerate the deep neural networks (DNNs). While single FPGA can provide good performance for small-scale DNNs, support for large-scale DNNs is limited due to higher resource demand. In this paper, we propose an efficient mapping approach for accelerating largescale DNNs on asymmetric multi-FPGA architectures. In this approach, the neural network mapping can be formulated as a resource allocation problem. We design a dynamic programming-based partitioning to solve this problem optimally. Experimental results using the large-scale ResNet-152 demonstrate that our deploys sixteen FPGAs to provide an advantage of 16.4x GOPS over the state-of-the-art work.

With the progress of electric vehicles, there comes a huge number of problems about cost inflation and workload increases in power distribution systems, which caused by the growing number of electric vehicles plugging. Hence, an optimal planning scheme of soft open point (SOP) considering the connection of electric vehicle to power distribution system is proposed. First of all, a SOP two-layer planning model for site selection and capacity determination was established to seek for site selection and capacity determination, so as to minimize the cost. The hybrid optimization algorithm composed of improved genetic algorithm and power flow algorithm was used to solve the problem. Further, the variation of voltage level, before and after the SOP connected to the distribution network, is also analyzed. Finally, the rationality and feasibility of the two-layer programming model of SOP site selection and constant capacity and the hybrid optimization algorithm composed of improved genetic algorithm and power flow algorithm are analyzed with ieee 33 node example system, and the planning conclusion of effectively reducing the operating cost of the distribution system is obtained. After plugging in SOP according to the planning results, the node voltage value, the average per unit value and the performance of the distribution system are improved to a certain extent. Meanwhile, the operation efficiency, relative error and the convergence capacity according to the modified algorithm are superior to conventional algorithm. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

We introduce Arbor, a performance portable library for simulation of large networks of multi-compartment neurons on HPC systems. Arbor is open source software, developed under the auspices of the HBP. The performance portability is by virtue of back-end specific optimizations for x86 multicore, Intel KNL, and NVIDIA GPUs. When coupled with low memory overheads, these optimizations make Arbor an order of magnitude faster than the most widely used comparable simulation software. The single-node performance can be scaled out to run very large models at extreme scale with efficient weak scaling.

The paper is devoted to the development of QRS segmentation system based on deep learning approach. The considered segmentation problem plays an important role in the automatic analysis of heart rhythms, which makes it possible to identify life-threatening pathologies. The main goal of the research is to choose the best segmentation pipeline in terms of accuracy and time-efficiency. Process of ECG-signal analysis is descripted and the problem of QRS segmentation is discussed. State-of-the-art algorithms are analyzed in literature review section and the most prominent are chosen for further research. In the course of the research three hypotheses about appropriate deep learning model are checked: LSTM-based model, 2-input 1-dimensional CNN model, and "signal-to-picture" approach based on 2-dimensional CNN. All the architectures are tested, and their advantages and disadvantages are discussed. The proposed ECG segmentation pipeline is developed for Holter monitor software.

Recently, the development and deployment of dedicated hardware can hardly keep pace with the increasing complexity of the network functions. With the performance improvement, the maturity of virtualization technology and many open-source network projects (such as DPDK), the general-purpose multi-core processors (multi-core CPU) have been widely used in network field. network operators are migrating network functions to multi-core CPU for flexible development and dynamic deployment. network programming interfaces on multi-core CPU not only provide general packet processing services but also shield the complex implementation of software and hardware for developers. Both network application requirements and implementation mechanisms of the underlying platform have significant influences on the development of network programming interfaces. In this paper, we first review the development of network programming interfaces and classify programming interfaces by information model, resource management mode, and development model. We then analyze the programming interfaces provided by Click, VPP, and mOS, respectively. Because 5G and data center networks require high programmability and performance, and software/hardware co-processing become popular packet processing architectures, we also propose future research directions, including application-defined semantics of control blocks, software/hardware dynamical reconfiguration, and multi-dimensional event management.

In urban planning, a numerical and spatially based approach is expected to drive to the "best" choice. In this work a GIS-based procedure is proposed to model territorial dynamics by comparing maps of two different periods (1830 and 2000). The study area is located in the urban fringe of Torino (NW Italy) that suffered from important changes especially in the last 60 years. A workflow was defined and applied, based on a multi-criteria approach implemented by GIS. With reference to existing maps, strength and direction of forces, opposing urban to rural/semi-natural surroundings, were mapped and described operating through the following scheme: a) vectorization and qualification of both impacted (rural) and impacting (urban) landscape elements;b) implementation of spatially dependent functions representing strength and direction of urban pushes against rural;c) qualification of rural areas majorly exposed to urban growth. Accordingly, some maps, useful to read the playing urban growth dynamics, were generated and some applications proposed. Nevertheless some limitations still persist: the proposed methodology is based on simplified hypotheses, mainly related to the definition of spatial indices that somehow depend on the type of information that available maps contain. A second limitation is related to the persistence of a great component of subjectivity during the extraction of the starting information from the available maps and weights assignation.

Synchronization is a significant issue for multi-threaded programs. Mutex lock, as a classic solution, is widely used in legacy programs and is still popular for its intuition. The SW26010 architecture, deployed on the supercomputer Sun-way Taihulight, introduces hardware-supported inter-core message passing mechanism and exposes explicit interfaces for developers to use its fast on-chip network. This emerging architectural feature brings both opportunities and challenges for mutex lock implementation. However, there is still no general lock mechanism optimized for architectures with this new feature. In this paper, we propose pLock, a fast lock designed for architectures that support Explicit inter-core Message Passing (EMP). pLock uses partial cores as lock servers and leverages the fast on-chip network to implement high-performance mutual exclusive locks. We propose two new techniques - chaining lock and hierarchical lock - to reduce message count and mitigate network congestion. We implement and evaluate pLock on an SW26010 processor. The experimental results show that our proposed techniques improve the performance of EMP-lock by up to 19.4x over a basic design.
