Multi-agent architectures have been successful in attaining considerable attention among computer security researchers. This is so, because of their demonstrated capabilities such as autonomy, embedded intelligence, learning and self-growing knowledge-base, high scalability, fault tolerance, and automatic parallelism. These characteristics have made this technology a de facto standard for developing ambient security systems to meet the open and dynamic nature of today's online communities. Although multi-agent architectures are increasingly studied in the area of computer security, there is still not enough empirical evidence on their performance in intrusions and attacks detection. The aim of this paper is to report the systematic literature review conducted in the context of specific research questions, to investigate multi-agent IDS architectures to highlight the issues that affect their performance in terms of detection accuracy and response time. We used pertinent keywords and terms to search and retrieve the most recent research studies, on multi-agent IDS architectures, from the major research databases and digital libraries such as SCOPUS, Springer, and ieee Explore. The search processes resulted in a number of studies;among them, there were journal articles, book chapters, conference papers, dissertations, and theses. The obtained studies were assessed and filtered out, and finally, there were over 71 studies chosen to answer the research questions. The results of this study have shown that multi-agent architectures include several advantages that can help in the development of ambient IDS. However, it has been found that there are several issues in the current multi-agent IDS architectures that may degrade the accuracy and response time of intrusions and attacks detection. The interconnection of billion smart devices opens new challenges for network integration in Internet of Things (IoT) environments, in which IoT gateways play significant roles as an intermediate component of smart devices and communication networks;therefore, a large amount of data are collected and exchanged via these gateways, Whose applications are expected to reduce data processing, storing, and forwarding in IoT networks. On the other hand, recently, SDN/NFV have been considered as emerging technologies and enablers for improving network performance and management due to the full capacities of scalability, flexibility, and elasticity. Hence, applying SDN/NFV for IoT gateways is expected to ease the complexity of the interconnection into the edge network as well as facilitate the interconnection of multiple network protocols, and multiple co-existing tenants on the same physical network. In this paper, firstly, the authors investigate several popular IoT gateways such as NB-IoT and 6LoWPAN to propose a suitable SDN/NFV-based architecture for IoT networks. Secondly, P4 and ONOS controller are used to implement deep programming at the customer side of a network that is suitable for deploying massive IoT environments and developing their applications in the manner of horizontal scalability. Finally, several experiments were demonstrated and implemented in a real NB-IoT gateway, which is a new gateway designed as an outdoor small cell for IoT.

This study set out to explore the basic features of the field by using scientific articles in the field of Technology and Engineering Management (TEM). In this context, publication data indexed in Web of Science (WoS) were used. The obtained data were recorded in the relational database and prepared for analysis. In the analysis of the data, the R programming language, the CiteSpace and the Ggplot2 library were used. Social network Analysis (SNA) and Bibliometric were used as methods. Accordingly, the longestrunning journal in the field is ieee-TEM. We identified 6 basic clusters in TEM studies;open innovation, management practices, bibliometric analysis, corporate opinion, academic success creation and health technology literature. Author collaboration in the TEM field shows an increasing trend. For 2018, the average number of authors per publication was calculated as 2.98. In the area of TEM, literature obsolescence (aging) ranges from 12 to 18 years. In terms of the topics discussed in the field, a change has been observed since 2003. In other words, number of researches on the topics in SMEs, regional information system, efficiency measurement model and strategic information system clusters has been decreasing since 2003.

This paper presents an efficient topology and route management approach in Software-Defined Wide Area networks (SD-WAN). Traditional WANs suffer from low utilization and lack of global view of the network. Therefore, during failures, topology/service/traffic changes, or new policy requirements, the system does not always converge to the global optimal state. Using Software Defined networking architectures in WANs provides the opportunity to design WANs with higher fault tolerance, scalability, and manageability. We exploit the correlation matrix derived from monitoring system between the virtual links to infer the underlying route topology and propose a route update approach that minimizes the total route update cost on all flows. We formulate the problem as an integer linear programming optimization problem and provide a centralized control approach that minimizes the total cost while satisfying the quality of service (QoS) on all flows. Experimental results on real network topologies demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in terms of disruption cost and average disrupted flows.

General-purpose processors offer the best programming flexibility to address a wide range of problems. Nonetheless, they still lack behind special-purpose processors when it comes to sustained computational performance. Here, we leverage the best from both worlds and we propose a flexible, highly scalable, high-performance computing architecture with versatility in mind. The proposed architecture code-named DRAGON, benefits from several forms of parallelism such as SIMD, VLIW, Memory Broadcasting and even vector processing.

Automatic crack detection and segmentation plays a significant role in the whole system of unmanned aerial vehicle inspections. In this paper, we have implemented a deep learning framework for crack detection based on classical network architectures including Alexnet, VGG and Resnet. Moreover, inspired by the feature pyramid network architecture, a hierarchical convolutional neural network (CNN) deep learning framework which is efficient in crack segmentation is also proposed, and the performance of it is compared with other state of the art network architecture. We have summarized the existing crack detection and segmentation datasets and established the largest existing benchmark-dataset on the internet for crack detection and segmentation, which is open-sourced for the research community. Our feature pyramid crack segmentation network is tested on the benchmark-dataset and gives satisfactory segmentation results. A framework for automatic unmanned aerial vehicle inspections is also proposed for the crack inspection tasks of various concrete structures. © 2019 ieee.

We developed a network architecture called information-centric elastic optical transport network (i-CEON) that enables efficient content delivery. The increasing volume of video traffic consumes network resources, so it is necessary to establish optical transport network architectures suitable for content delivery. For this purpose, we extend existing information-centric networking to be applicable to elastic optical networks. The main focus of this paper is presenting the method in i-CEON of optimizing optical-path routing by effectively using an in-network cache function to efficiently accommodate content traffic. This reduces redundant use of network resources. We formulate the joint optimization problem of elastic optical-path routing and content-replication placement as a mixed integer linear programming problem. We conducted intensive numerical experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of our method and confirmed that it reduced network cost by 20% and server load by 33%.

This paper addresses the problem of planning time-optimal trajectories for multiple cooperative agents along specified paths through a static road network. Vehicle interactions at intersections create non-trivial decisions, with complex flow-on effects for subsequent interactions. A globally optimal, minimum time trajectory is found for all vehicles using Mixed Integer Linear programming (MILP). Computational performance is improved by minimising binary variables using iteratively applied targeted collision constraints, and efficient goal constraints. Simulation results in an open-pit mining scenario compare the proposed method against a fast heuristic method and a reactive approach based on site practices. The heuristic is found to scale better with problem size while the MILP is able to avoid local minima.

Service Function Chaining (SFC) is used to steer the traffic to a specific set of network Functions (NFs) (such as load balancer, proxy, firewall, etc.) based on the type of traffic and operator policy. Handling the massive amount of user traffic envisioned in the next generation networks using traditional techniques is costly and tedious. By leveraging advanced technologies such as network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined networking (SDN), NFs can be deployed as software instances on Virtual Machines (VMs) (also called as Virtual network Function (VNF)). network operators widely place different types of VNFs at different locations to meet the user traffic demands. Multiple VNF instances on the same physical server compete for common resources such as network I/O bandwidth, CPU cycles, cache memory, and main memory which can lead to severe performance interference, which is ignored in existing NF selection mechanisms. However, increasing the SFC acceptance rate of SFC requests with an effective selection of required VNFs under the constraint of end-to-end latency is still an open problem. Since this problem is NP-Hard, we propose a heuristic algorithm based on dynamic programming which efficiently selects the required VNFs and steers the traffic by considering the interference effect. Results show that the proposed algorithm improves the average SFC acceptance rate by 29% as compared with existing methods.

Microservices, serverless architectures, cloud native programming are novel paradigms and techniques which could significantly reduce the burden on both developers and operators of future services. Several types of applications fit in well with the new concepts easing the life of different stakeholders while enabling cloud-grade service deployments. However, latency sensitive applications with strict delay constraints between different components pose additional challenges on the platforms. In order to gain benefit from recent cloud technologies for latency sensitive applications as well, a comprehensive performance analysis of available platforms and relevant components is a crucial first step. In this paper, we address one of the most widely used and versatile cloud platforms, namely Amazon Web Services (AWS), and reveal the delay characteristics of key components and services which impact the overall performance of latency sensitive applications. Our contribution is threefold. First, we define a detailed measurement methodology for CaaS/FaaS (Container/Function as a Service) platforms, specifically for AWS. Second, we provide a comprehensive analysis of AWS components focusing on delay characteristics. Third, we attempt to adjust a drone control application to the platform and investigate the performance on today's system.
