The advent of Internet of Things - IoT - technology has elevated the embedded solutions employment to level never seen before, both in the problem-solving possibilities as in the complexity of the new systems. SoC-based computers such as those used in embedded systems have been under growing attention due to their low-cost, low-power, reduced footprint and high performance characteristics. These features allow small users as well as industries to design, develop and build wide range of applications with efficiency as the common aspect. A number of platforms that integrate this kind of technology were also proposed by different manufacturers, some employing the open hardware concept. Embedded applications spread over a wide range of fields, which make them hard to characterize in a general sense. For this reason, benchmark suites are often used as a tool for system's performance evaluation. However, such suites consist on a large number of different algorithms, which can spend time and energy to run on SoC computers. In order to contribute to the performance assessment of such systems, this paper presents a simple method for comparing different platforms, based on execution time of simple but representative algorithms: sorting, cross-correlation and discrete-cosine transform calculation for vectors. The power consumption was also considered. Six distinct architectures were used as a case study. Several computer experiments were conducted in order to make possible a statistic characterization of different load conditions in distinct platforms, so their comparison can be done in a meaningful way. Results show that the proposed method provides a good estimation of relative system performance, which can be useful as a criterion choice for selecting different embedded platforms.

Rapidly emerging workloads require rapidly developed chips. The Celerity 16-nm open-source SoC was implemented in nine months using an architectural trifecta to minimize development time: a general-purpose tier comprised of open-source Linux-capable RISC-V cores, a massively parallel tier comprised of a RISC-V tiled manycore array that can be scaled to arbitrary sizes, and a specialization tier that uses high-level synthesis (HLS) to create an algorithmic neural-network accelerator. These tiers are tied together with an efficient heterogeneous remote store programming model on top of a flexible partial global address space memory system.

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) are widely spreading thanks to fast-paced technological breakthroughs of microcontrollers and communication networks. Among them, networked Control Systems (NCS) gained notable attention thanks to their application in industrial operations. In NCS, the interconnection of a control logic with sensors and actuators used to steer a physical system occurs over a communication network. Despite large research interest on NCS, the reproducibility and comparison of experimental results are difficult to achieve. This is caused by the lack of well-established models and methodologies that combine the theoretical and practical aspects of NCS. We tackle this problem by proposing and demonstrating NCSbench: the first open-source reproducible benchmarking platform for NCS. NCSbench enables the benchmarking of research experiments using a networked two-wheeled inverted pendulum robot. For each benchmarking experiment, a set of values is measured and used to quantify the key performance indicators (KPIs) of the NCS. In our demonstration, we visualize in real-time the evolution of the benchmarking KPIs on a web-based Graphical User Interface.

This paper focuses on the evaluation of broadband power line communication taking in terms of data transmission and the delayed measured and compared to theoretical values. The utilization of communication systems has expanded rapidly. However, there is a need to deploy new telecommunication systems and transmission technologies that can carry more data and allows faster transmission at a minimal cost. Due to this, the effect of high latency, noise and interference in communication networks is one major challenge that pose great danger to faster and successful data transmission. We use data obtained from the software tool (ICMP) which recorded the ping statistics and (SPSS) in data coding and analysis. Broadband power line communication may be seen as complementary or alternative solutions to traditional fixed line networks and wireless networks according to existing network architectures with PLC bandwidths set to increase © 2019 ieee.

The radio architectures of and protocols used by wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are, typically, very similar and are based on ieee 802.15.4. By concentrating on this standard and the associated employed security techniques, the possibility of designing a transferable safety and privacy enhancement across protocols and services, becomes a reality. WSN applications have expanded significantly over the past decade or so and adopt commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) devices and publicly available standards, which inherently creates intruder incentives and security challenges. Securing WSNs is a critical requirement due to the challenging burden of protecting the transmitted sensitive information across various applications, while operating under unique security vulnerabilities and a fluctuating radio frequency (RF) spectrum and physical environment. Couple this aspect with establishing a level of trust among network nodes, while providing resilience to interference, it becomes clear that maintaining security is challenging. This paper identifies unique vulnerabilities in WSNs, which have a direct impact on privacy and safety. The prevalent security techniques used in the common PHY and MAC layers of various WSN protocols are discussed in terms of providing the essential security requirements. An experimental visualization of the coexistence issues in the industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) RF band, which is integral for IoT operations, is provided as an introduction to a new perspective on attacking WSNs. Fundamental attack styles and spectrum sharing/coexistence based intrusions are presented. Typical methods, which use COTS devices and open source software to exploit WSN security holes, are also discussed.

In order to solve the problems occurring in the current data collection apps, the methodologies of blockchain including decentralized data transmission, transaction security, data privacy, and permanent data storage are adopted in the Exercise and Diet Architecture (EDA). In EDA, personal data is stored and transferred under the secure mechanism in the blockchain network In which, all data are protected through secure hash algorithm and digital signature, which could be decrypt only through the corresponding key. Moreover, all transactions are transmitted in privacy because of the peer to peer transmission method. Thus, EDA is designed for storing data in a fully privacy and security environment.

The penetration rate of Electric Vehicles is increasing as expected. To meet the charging needs, numerous charging stations are built, which are small because of space and grid limitation in city. Such a high density distribution of charging stations offers EV users more choices when seeking for charging service. In order to offer users better choices with global knowledge, recommendation systems are developed. However, the cost generated from recommendation system is not considered when designing the charging network, which result in an increase of overall system cost. Therefore, this paper mainly focuses on the charging network design problem under generalized recommendation systems to find a better co-working solution. We first formulate the EV charging network design as a cost minimization problem, considering construction cost, incentive cost for users' to transfer in the charging network, and cost for the loss of users leaving the system, which is a nonlinear mixed-integer optimization problem. In order to solve such problem, we propose a branch and bound algorithm. By combining local search heuristic and cutting plane process, the exact optimal solution can be obtained efficiently. To demonstrate the superiority of the scheme proposed by us, simulation are conducted.

Algorithm classification is to automatically identify the classes of a program based on the algorithm(s) and/or data structure(s) implemented in the program. It can be useful for various tasks, such as code reuse, code theft detection, and malware detection. Code similarity metrics, on the basis of features extracted from syntax and semantics, have been used to classify programs. Such features, however, often need manual selection effort and are specific to individual programming languages, limiting the classifiers to programs in the same language. To recognize the similarities and differences among algorithms implemented in different languages, this paper describes a framework of Bilateral Neural networks (Bi-NN) that builds a neural network on top of two underlying sub-networks, each of which encodes syntax and semantics of code in one language. A whole Bi-NN can be trained with bilateral programs that implement the same algorithms and/or data structures in different languages and then be applied to recognize algorithm classes across languages. We have instantiated the framework with several kinds of token-, tree-and graph-based neural networks that encode and learn various kinds of information in code. We have applied the instances of the framework to a code corpus collected from GitHub containing thousands of Java and C++ programs implementing 50 different algorithms and data structures. Our evaluation results show that the use of Bi-NN indeed produces promising algorithm classification results both within one language and across languages, and the encoding of dependencies from code into the underlying neural networks helps improve algorithm classification accuracy further. In particular, our custom-built dependency trees with tree-based convolutional neural networks achieve the highest classification accuracy among the different instances of the framework that we have evaluated. As a vital component of graph neural networks, graph pooling remains largely an open problem. Most existing methods are induced by empirical insights, while ignore the effect of topology information for graph coarsening guidance. In this paper, we propose a Topology Discriminative Pooling (TD-Pool) approach, which derives graph pooling architectures from graph kernels for semantic and structural feature co-embedding. Concretely, TD-Pool contains two graph modules, namely recurrent edge module and convolutional node module, for respectively learning topological/semantic embeddings on edges/nodes. The edge module combines Weisfeiler-Lehman graph kernel with neural networks, which captures topology features in a data-driven manner. It is deployed on the line graphs, whose nodes correspond to the original graph edges for semantic-topology decoupling. The node module learns semantic features with graph convolution in the spectral domain, which acts on the original graphs nodes. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our TD-Pool in graph-level tasks.
