Smart cities can generate a lot of useful data for analyzing behavior and infrastructures, helping with urban planning. However, the applications found are often limited to desktop viewing only, which can hinder or restrict data analysis. This work proposes an immersive data visualization of the population of medical centers to assist in the analysis and development of new strategies to deal with overcrowding situations. The prototype allows the visualization of crowd data located in places of interest on top of a 3D map. The user can view the number of people present at the location at the current stage of the simulation or over time. To test the prototype, data from an infectious disease simulator was used, called LODUS. The results showed that the application has potential for visualizing this type of data.

In the current era of big data, huge volumes of data can be easily generated and collected at a high velocity from a wide variety of rich data sources. Embedded in these big data-which may also contain many labels or tags-are implicit, previously unknown and potential useful information that can be discovered. Discovered knowledge helps user get a better understanding of the data. However, amounts of discovered knowledge from these huge volumes of big data can also be large. To help users comprehend the discovered knowledge, visualization approaches are in demand. In this paper, we present a data discovery and visualization tool. The tool enables users to visually monitor and explore multi-sourced, multi-tagged time-series data. It also enables users to conduct visual analytics to discover interesting data/knowledge and to visualize this information. Although we demonstrate the practicality of our tool for multi-sourced, multi-tagged time-series data from the agricultural sector, our tool can be applicable to a wide variety of other domains.

The iTrace Infrastructure is a suite of community eye-tracking tools that enables researchers to conduct eye-tracking studies on software projects in real development environments. The infrastructure consists of tools providing support for data gathering, post processing, and visualization. iTrace-Visualize provides researchers with a way to visualize gathered and post-processed eye-movement data. iTrace involves the analysis of more than just eye-movement data, and includes information gathered from the development environment and the source code. This work describes additions to iTrace-Visualize that provide researchers with visualizations of the gathered source code data. Specifically, a tokenized heatmap of the source code is presented, which shows the source code tokens that are viewed the most. Additionally, a region of interest scarf plot that details the timeline of what parts of the code a participant views is added as a new feature. The design of digital musical instruments is based on the perceptions, especially visual, that they can generate in users during their use. Given the multifaceted nature of musical expression, this aspect plays a crucial role in shaping their playability, requiring careful selection of the information to integrate into the instrument's interface. In this context, the music visualization techniques can offer substantial assistance, aiding in the pedagogical process of mastering these tools. In this work, we introduce Pulsate, an Android application engineered to enable real-time music composition by leveraging visual perceptions generated through the collision dynamics of geometric shapes resulting from the user's tactile interactions at specific points on the screen. The development of Pulsate involved the integration of various features: (i) provision for polytonality and different musical scales, (ii) internal playback modes which include percussive, harmonic, and melodic functionalities, (iii) incorporation of the MIDI protocol to facilitate control over external instruments. Through these features, Pulsate offers an intuitive platform for real-time music production. To realize this objective, we capitalized on graphics-oriented programming language processing capabilities. An evaluation study was conducted to assess the efficacy of how music can be produced expressively, involving a heterogeneous cohort of participants with varied musical backgrounds and degrees of proficiency in music theory. A further usability study was conducted to analyze the overall user satisfaction. The results of these studies provided us with positive feedback regarding the effectiveness of the concept, the aesthetic appeal of the graphical interface, and user satisfaction concerning the usability and utility of the provided tool.

Using either a search engine or website navigation can pose difficulties for web users in certain situations. Therefore, creating a useful visualization of the website structure can aid web users in navigating through a website. By employing visualization techniques, the website structure can be presented as regions that provide clarity on all pages, links, and labels. To address these challenges, our goal is to identify the top three existing visualization layouts that improve website navigation. To achieve this, we aim to evaluate different types of existing visualization layouts by applying the region mechanism to visualize website structures. Initially, we designed a region mechanism that ensures scalability and ease of navigation and understanding for website structures. Subsequently, we conducted a technical evaluation to assess the performance of 12 existing visualization layouts on a website structure. During the evaluation, we generated 12 layouts for each webpage in the University of London (UoL) website. We then calculated three metrics for each layout: average aspect ratio, visualization area, and label overlapping. Finally, based on the results obtained, we identified the three most suitable visualization layouts for visualizing a website structure. These selections were made based on low aspect ratio and stability, effective control of the visualization area, and support for readability. Overall, this research focuses on improving website navigation by evaluating existing visualization layouts and selecting the most suitable ones. The chosen layouts are determined based on their ability to maintain low aspect ratio, ensure stability, control visualization area, and support readability.

This paper presents one system utilizing a microcontroller chip (ESP32-S) and a Hall effect-based current sensor (ACS712) to monitor the power consumption of the household sockets. LED light and OLED monitor display real-time usage status of various loads, providing users with instant insights into socket usage. The system uploads household electricity usage records to ThingSpeak for further analysis and tracking based on the ESP32-S's Wi-Fi connectivity. Eventually, ThingSpeak notifies users about mitigating potential accidents and enhancing the security features of the power visualization smart socket in cases of power overload.

Each player of competitive Karuta has a unique posture and a style of swiping the cards, which are important factors in winning a game that requires the swift acquisition of all 50 cards. It is essential to analyze the characteristics of a player's posture in order to achieve the swift acquisition. While previous studies on the analysis of posture of competitive Karuta required special devices to be attached to the body for measuring brain activity or analyzing wrist acceleration to determine the speed of a player. Such approaches were problematic since they may interfere with the natural movement of the players. To address this issue, we are developing a visualization system that displays the three-dimensional skeletal movements of multiple players in response to a read the poetry of Karuta. We utilize skeletal information extracted from videos using Mediapipe, developed by Google, to compare and analyze the movements of different players. This paper presents the results of our analysis, which compared the swiping movements of multiple players using our proposed system.
