This study presents an interactive bio-art utilizing RFID technology to explore critical issues such as genetic privacy, bio-information misuse, and societal biases. Drawing inspiration from the exhibit “Stranger Visions”, this work retains its core themes while transforming the artistic expression into an interactive format to enhance sensory engagement. Through integrating RF/microwave technology, this work demonstrates its potential not only to celebrate advance biomedical innovation but also to serve as a platform for addressing broader ethical and societal concerns.

For a robot to perform personalised human support in a home, it is essential to uniquely identify the people it is working for. Each individual has their own attributes, knowledge of the environment, and experiences which the robot should learn and keep in its memory. One of the current challenges is for a robot to identify and re-identify an individual while dealing with visual occlusion, changes in appearance, and identity switching. This paper presents a novel approach to address these challenges in robot vision by extending current state-of-the-art solutions to enhance person memorisation by taking multiple viewpoints to extract features for matching and maintaining this information in a world model of the robot.

Over the past 40 years, immersive visualization laboratories have existed in various forms across academia, industry, and government. Common to many of these laboratories has been the presence of surround-screen-based immersive display systems, such as CAVEs, powerwalls, tiled display systems, and related variations. With the rise of consumer off-the-shelf (COTS) virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs) over the past ten years, questions have arisen regarding the costs versus benefits of continuing to build, operate, and maintain surround-screen-based immersive display systems. This document highlights the benefits of continuing to promote these systems, both through a survey of existent systems post-2020 and by specifically showcasing low-cost approaches undertaken during a recent upgrade of a six-sided CAVE system. It will discuss applications unique to surround-screen-based immer-sive display systems, the advantages of these systems over COTS HMDs, and future needs and directions for these technologies to remain beneficial to users of XR technology.

Training a robot through demonstration requires robust algorithms capable of processing provided trajectories to generate high-quality task executions. However, the success of this process is highly dependent on the quality of the trajectories. Poor-quality trajectories hinder the ability of algorithms to learn and generalize effectively, while high-quality trajectories can improve learning outcomes, reducing the need for overly complex algorithms. In this work, we propose an initial method for comparing sets of semantically annotated trajectories used for robot demonstration. To evaluate the proposed methodologies, we recorded trajectories of 60 participants in a study setup in Virtual Reality where each participant tested one of three different control-visualization compositions. We use classical approaches such as Dynamic Time Warping and Discrete Frechet-Distance to measure the similarity between segments of recorded trajectories and show that different input devices and visualization combinations affect the resulting trajectory metrics.

This paper presents the development and evaluation of a Big Data Analytics (BDA) platform designed for Industry 4.0 applications, focusing on the integration, processing, and visualization of data at the edge. The platform integrates tools such as Apache Spark, Airflow, MinIO, Airbyte, and Streamlit, to facilitate automated data collection and report generation. Deployed in a real manufacturing environment in São Paulo, Brazil, the solution aims to minimize data latency by avoiding cloud transmission and leveraging edge computing. Automated daily reports have been generated since May 2024, improving decision-making and reducing human error associated with manual data integration. This work provides a practical contribution to industrial data integration, highlighting the benefits of edge-based data processing, automation, and visualization to optimize production efficiency and decision-making processes.

This paper proposes a novel method to extend Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) to the audio domain, enabling novel-view acoustic synthesis solely using audio data. While recent advancements in 3DGS have significantly improved novel-view synthesis in the visual domain, its application to audio has been overlooked, despite the critical role of spatial audio for immersive AR/VR experiences. Our method addresses this gap by constructing an audio point cloud from audio at source viewpoints and rendering spatial audio at arbitrary viewpoints. Experimental results show that our method outperforms existing approaches relying on audio-visual information, demonstrating the feasibility of extending 3DGS to audio.
