Geothermal energy offers a sustainable and reliable energy source. However, VR engineering methods have seen limited application in this field. This work introduces an Immersive Engineering Toolkit, which leverages an open-source VR engine to address challenges across the geothermal lifecycle, such as drill site planning, subsurface visualization, engineering simulations, and public engagement. By integrating heterogeneous data formats and enabling collaborative environments, the toolkit aims to enhance cost-efficiency, safety, decision-making and stakeholder communication. By unifying scientific, engineering, and societal aspects, the toolkit aims to provide a holistic approach to accelerate the adoption of deep geothermal energy systems.

Analysing and optimizing the networking performance of protocol stacks requires accessible tools capable of presenting precise measurements in intuitive visualizations. Realtime presentation of live data further increases the efficiency in gaining insights, e.g. into cross-stack phenomena and configuration changes of highly configurable networking technologies such as 5G or 6G. In this context, we introduce PerfVis, a tool designed to visualize network transmission timings. By one-way measurements, the insights can be focused on direction-dependent effects of single links or short paths. Case studies involving a 5G campus network demonstrate how PerfVis can identify timing effects on lower layers of the protocol stack and highlight its capability to adapt measurements and visualizations for specific analysis tasks.

We present our prototype system, developed via a participatory design process with neurologists, demonstrating how Cross Reality technology can integrate the immersive, stereoscopic visualization and interaction benefits of eXtended Reality tools with traditional desktop medical imaging software. Our system enables clinicians to work simultaneously with both systems, with changes to the data synchronized between them. To address the clinical use-case, we adapted interaction techniques to make cross-sectional analysis more intuitive than on a flat screen. Feedback from the neurologists indicate a Cross Reality system has potential to enhance their current workflows.

In this contest, we present a solution that utilizes the virtualness of VR experience to create a rapid cause and effect visualization in virtual environment (VE) for the application of the future climate engineering technologies. This educational experience features an engaging polar bear rescue storyline, gameplay mechanics, and two novel collaborative, adaptive zoom world-in-miniature 3D UIs that facilitate large-scale VE wayfinding, navigation, and task fulfillment.

The most famous absolute self-positioning is GPS (Global Positioning System). However, GPS cannot be used in indoor and underground environments. Thus, relative positioning methods such as sensor-based pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR) are required. The visually impaired has difficulty using navigation devices using visual information, such as smartphones, and it is necessary to develop navigation devices using non-visual information. In this paper, we propose a highly accurate two-dimensional PDR using Ashirase device, a shoe-based wearable sensor. This sensor provides non-visual navigation aids through the underfoot vibrations and has an accurate position estimation as the sensor is strongly attached to the shoe. The proposed method obtained a low estimation error <0.2% walking in straight lines and <1.2% walking in circles.

Story visualization is the transformation of narrative elements into image sequences. While existing research has primarily focused on visual contextual coherence, the deeper narrative essence of stories often remains overlooked. This limitation hinders the practical application of these approaches, as generated images frequently fail to capture the intended meaning and nuances of the narrative fully. To address these challenges, we propose VisAgent, a training-free multi-agent framework designed to comprehend and visualize pivotal scenes within a given story. By considering story distillation, semantic consistency, and contextual coherence, VisAgent employs an agentic workflow. In this workflow, multiple specialized agents collaborate to: (i) refine layered prompts based on the narrative structure and (ii) seamlessly integrate generated elements, including refined prompts, scene elements, and subject placement, into the final image. The empirically validated effectiveness confirms the framework’s suitability for practical story visualization applications.

To aid in searching an environment for targets, various cues have been developed and implemented for augmented reality (AR) head-mounted displays (HMDs). A variety of designs have emerged from prior literature including the gaze line, 2D wedge, and 3D arrow, each with unique design characteristics. However, many of these designs are not evaluated beyond their initial design proposals. Given a video and its initial target, visual object tracking aims to locate the specific target in the following frames. Most trackers only utilize visible modality, leading to inferior performance on dark night. Current researchers have tried to involve thermal data to achieve satisfying performance in all conditions. The main issue on RGB-T object tracking is how to fuse those modalities. In this paper, we propose a real-time MDNet with adaptive feature fusion method. We introduce information entropy to obtain fusion weights, which can achieve adaptive fusion. Our method can achieve better performance on the public dataset against several fusion methods. Both quantitative and qualitative experiments validate the effectiveness of our method. Furthermore, our method can maintain real-time speed.
