System-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) is a relatively new hazard analysis technique. Several tools supporting the STPA process already exist. However, they are mostly textual. In this paper we present a Domain Specific Language (DSL) for STPA with an automatic visualization of the STPA components. This combines the advantages of textual and graphical approaches. The DSL is implemented with open source tooling, realized as a Visual Studio Code Extension using Langium for the language server and Sprotty for the visualization. A comparison suggests that the DSL has potential to be a good alternative to other STPA supporting tools.

This paper presents the development of an arm motion capture system incorporating 3D visualization for visual feedback in robot arm teleoperation. The motion capture devices employed are Magnetic, Angular Rate, and Gravity (MARG) sensors, which are a combination of accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer. The data from these sensors have to be fused to obtain information to control robot arm. Given the inherent noise in sensor data, the Madgwick filter algorithm is employed to enhance the quality of processed data. This algorithm offers processing options tailored for either Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensors (excluding magnetometers) or complete MARG sensors. The acquired angles are transmitted to robot arm via MQTT communication protocol. The results obtained from Madgwick filter algorithm processing method for MARG sensor has been proven to be more accurate. By fusing IMU data with magnetometer readings, the performance of robot arm teleoperation can be enhanced.

Despite their remarkable performance, the explainability of Vision Transformers (ViTs) remains a challenge. While forward attention-based token attribution techniques have become popular in text processing, their suitability for ViTs hasn't been extensively explored. In this paper, we compare these methods against state-of-the-art input attribution methods from the Vision literature, revealing their limitations due to improper aggregation of information across layers. To address this, we introduce two general techniques, PLUS and SkipPLUS, that can be composed with any input attribution method to more effectively aggregate information across layers while handling noisy layers. Through comprehensive and quantitative evaluations of faithfulness and human interpretability on a variety of ViT architectures and datasets, we demonstrate the effectiveness of PLUS and SkipPLUS, establishing a new state-of-the-art in white-box token attribution. We conclude with a comparative analysis highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the best versions of all the studied methods. We report a novel stroboscopic differential interference contrast (DIC) microscopy for the visualization of vibrations in MEMS devices, with a high vertical resolution at the nanometer (nm) scale, and a large vertical measurement range of similar to 1 um compared to state of the art. It enables the analysis of not only the linear vibrations but also the nonlinear fluctuations in the vibration conditions. The DIC microscopy measures the interference of two sheared illumination light beams reflected from the sample surface to determine the differential surface deflection, and a stroboscopic method is used to capture the fast vibration motions of the MEMS device. Furthermore, we introduce a doubly-modulated illumination method to enhance the temporal resolution of the stroboscopic method, which is promising for investigating of fast transition dynamics in MEMS resonators.

We present an exploratory analysis of gender representation among the authors, committee members, and award winners at the ieeevisualization (VIS) conference over the last 30 years. Our goal is to provide descriptive data on which diversity discussions and efforts in the community can build. We look in particular at the gender of VIS authors as a proxy for the community at large. We consider measures of overall gender representation among authors, differences in careers, positions in author lists, and collaborations. We found that the proportion of female authors has increased from 9% in the first five years to 22% in the last five years of the conference. Over the years, we found the same representation of women in program committees and slightly more women in organizing committees. Women are less likely to appear in the last author position, but more in the middle positions. In terms of collaboration patterns, female authors tend to collaborate more than expected with other women in the community.
