As a non-invasive and non-radiating imaging technology, ultrasound transmission tomography (UTT) has gained broad attention in industrial and biomedical fields. Image reconstruction plays a vital role in UTT. A novel $\boldsymbol{L}_{\mathbf{1}}/\boldsymbol{L}_{\mathbf{2}}$ regularization method aiming to solve the UTT inverse problem based on total variation regularization is proposed, which divided the variation into its $\boldsymbol{L}_{\mathbf{1}}-\mathbf{norm}$ and $\boldsymbol{L}_{\mathbf{2}}-\mathbf{norm}$ forms and made a ratio. Then, the ratio term is used as the regularization term in UTT inverse problem, and the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) algorithm is adopted to solve it. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method successfully improves the imaging accuracy and the effect of image visualization compared to traditional image reconstruction methods.

Deep learning models generally learn the biases present in the training data. Researchers have proposed several approaches to mitigate such biases and make the model fair. Bias mitigation techniques assume that a sufficiently large number of training examples are present. However, we observe that if the training data is limited, then the effectiveness of bias mitigation methods is severely degraded. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to address this problem. Specifically, we adapt self-supervision and self-distillation to reduce the impact of biases on the model in this setting. Self-supervision and self-distillation are not used for bias mitigation. However, through this work, we demonstrate for the first time that these techniques are very effective in bias mitigation. We empirically show that our approach can significantly reduce the biases learned by the model. Further, we experimentally demonstrate that our approach is complementary to other bias mitigation strategies. Our approach significantly improves their performance and further reduces the model biases in the limited data regime. Specifically, on the L-CIFAR-10S skewed dataset, our approach significantly reduces the bias score of the baseline model by 78.22% and outperforms it in terms of accuracy by a significant absolute margin of 8.89%. It also significantly reduces the bias score for the state-of-the-art domain independent bias mitigation method by 59.26% and improves its performance by a significant absolute margin of 7.08%.

In the context of visual navigation, the capacity to map a novel environment is necessary for an agent to exploit its observation history in the considered place and efficiently reach known goals. This ability can be associated with spatial reasoning, where an agent is able to perceive spatial relationships and regularities, and discover object characteristics. Recent work introduces learnable policies parametrized by deep neural networks and trained with Reinforcement Learning (RL). In classical RL setups, the capacity to map and reason spatially is learned end-to-end, from reward alone. In this setting, we introduce supplementary supervision in the form of auxiliary tasks designed to favor the emergence of spatial perception capabilities in agents trained for a goal-reaching downstream objective. We show that learning to estimate metrics quantifying the spatial relationships between an agent at a given location and a goal to reach has a high positive impact in Multi-Object Navigation settings. Our method significantly improves the performance of different baseline agents, that either build an explicit or implicit representation of the environment, even matching the performance of incomparable oracle agents taking ground-truth maps as input. A learning-based agent from the literature trained with the proposed auxiliary losses was the winning entry to the Multi-Object Navigation Challenge, part of the CVPR 2021 Embodied AI Workshop.

Predicting the future trajectory of agents from visual observations is an important problem for realization of safe and effective navigation of autonomous systems in dynamic environments. This paper focuses on two important aspects of future trajectory forecast which are particularly relevant for mobile platforms: 1) modeling uncertainty of the predictions, particularly from egocentric views, where uncertainty in the interactive reactions and behaviors of other agents must consider the uncertainty in the ego-motion, and 2) modeling multi-modality nature of the problem, which are particularly prevalent at junctions in urban traffic scenes. To address these problems in a unified approach, we propose NEMO (Noisy Ego MOtion priors for future object localization) for future forecast of agents in the egocentric view. In the proposed approach, a predictive distribution of future forecast is jointly modeled with the uncertainty of predictions. For this, we divide the problem into two tasks: future ego-motion prediction and future object localization. We first model the multi-modal distribution of future ego-motion with uncertainty estimates. The resulting distribution of ego-behavior is used to sample multiple modes of future ego-motion. Then, each modality is used as a prior to understand the interactions between the ego-vehicle and target agent. We predict the multi-modal future locations of the target from individual modes of the ego-vehicle while modeling the uncertainty of the target's behavior. To this end, we extensively evaluate the proposed framework using the publicly available benchmark dataset (HEV-I) supplemented with odometry data from an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).

Treating injuries by manual diagnosis of bone fractures in the upper extremities that are shoulder, humerus, elbow, wrist, finger, hand and forearm is a challenging task that can be prone to errors due to factors such as radiologist fatigue and experience level. For an accurate diagnosis and prompt treatment, anomalies of the upper extremities must be automatically detected in medical X-ray pictures. This research uses the MURA dataset to present a hybrid deep learning technique for multiclass categorization of anomalies in the upper extremity, encompassing the wrist, humerus, and elbow. This study uses pretrained Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) such as Visual Geometry Group (VGG19), Dense Convolutional Network (DenseNet121), and Residual Network (ResNet50), as well as customized CNN architectures, to classify abnormalities in upper extremity radiographs. These models are tailored to the anomaly detection job using transfer learning, resulting in accurate abnormality identification and localization. Furthermore, heatmap visualization techniques are used to improve anomaly identification outcomes, giving clinicians interpretable data for analyzing probable abnormalities in X-ray pictures.

This study measured the advancing contact angle and receding contact angle of the graphene nanofluids, and analyzed the difference between the pulsating heat pipe (PHP) of different materials to the contact angle. We were found the optimal graphene nanofluids parameters by the glass visualization PHP, and using this parameter to the metal PHP. We can calculate the flow resistance of the fluid and the thermal resistance of the metal PHP by the contact angle. And experiments using metal and glass PHPs were used to verify the theoretical analysis. The thermal resistance of the graphene nanofluids on the metal PHP was better than 30% of the pure water.

Bubbles are prevalent across key industries such as energy, chemical, biomedical, and oil and gas transportation, and have a significant impact on production efficiency and process safety. In this paper, an adaptive algorithm for bubble identification utilizing laser scanning is developed in order to better extract bubbles with varying brightness intensity in the original image. The grayscale distributions of the rows and columns of the captured slice images are explored, where the presence of a bubble displays a distinct tendency to be first flat, then decreasing, next increasing, and finally flat. Therefore, the grayscale is divided into three parts: background, transition region, and bubble. The bubble edge can be determined by the grayscale distribution and gradient in the transition region. The flowchart of this adaptive algorithm is established. Based on the proposed algorithm, the identification of bubbles in a tank is achieved and the results are compared with those acquired by the Otsu method, revealing the better performance of the proposed algorithm. Besides, the bubble shape is examined, and the bubbles are visualized subsequently.

In this paper, we will construct a recommendation system through the SSM framework based on collaborative filtering recommendation idea, together with Layui and ECharts, in which data visualization can also be done. The management, promotion and warehousing departments of micro and small enterprises can develop more efficient strategic guidelines based on the recommendation results and data visualization displays, thus improving the management of the enterprise and also the economic efficiency of the enterprise at the same time. © 2021 ieee.

Learning to classify video data from classes not included in the training data, i.e. video-based zero-shot learning, is challenging. We conjecture that the natural alignment between the audio and visual modalities in video data provides a rich training signal for learning discriminative multi-modal representations. Focusing on the relatively underexplored task of audio-visual zero-shot learning, we propose to learn multi-modal representations from audio-visual data using cross-modal attention and exploit textual label embeddings for transferring knowledge from seen classes to unseen classes. Taking this one step further, in our generalised audio-visual zero-shot learning setting, we include all the training classes in the test-time search space which act as distractors and increase the difficulty while making the setting more realistic. Due to the lack of a unified benchmark in this domain, we introduce a (generalised) zero-shot learning benchmark on three audiovisual datasets of varying sizes and difficulty, VGGSound, UCF, and ActivityNet, ensuring that the unseen test classes do not appear in the dataset used for supervised training of the backbone deep models. Comparing multiple relevant and recent methods, we demonstrate that our proposed AVCA model achieves state-of-the-art performance on all three datasets.

In this paper, we are concerned with enhancing the generalization capability of object detectors. And we consider a realistic yet challenging scenario, namely Single-Domain Generalized Object Detection (Single-DGOD), which aims to learn an object detector that performs well on many unseen target domains with only one source domain for training. Towards Single-DGOD, it is important to extract domain-invariant representations (DIR) containing intrinsical object characteristics, which is beneficial for improving the robustness for unseen domains. Thus, we present a method, i.e., cyclic-disentangled self-distillation, to disentangle DIR from domain-specific representations without the supervision of domain-related annotations (e.g., domain labels). Concretely, a cyclic-disentangled module is first proposed to cyclically extract DIR from the input visual features. Through the cyclic operation, the disentangled ability can be promoted without the reliance on domain-related annotations. Then, taking the DIR as the teacher, we design a self-distillation module to further enhance the generalization ability. In the experiments, our method is evaluated in urban-scene object detection. Experimental results of five weather conditions show that our method obtains a significant performance gain over baseline methods. Particularly, for the night-sunny scene, our method outperforms baselines by 3%, which indicates that our method is instrumental in enhancing generalization ability.
