In recent years, Face Anti-Spoofing (FAS) has played a crucial role in preserving the security of face recognition technology. With the rise of counterfeit face generation techniques, the challenge posed by digitally edited faces to face anti-spoofing is escalating. Existing FAS technologies primarily focus on intercepting physically forged faces and lack a robust solution for cross-domain FAS challenges. Moreover, determining an appropriate threshold to achieve optimal deployment results remains an issue for intra-domain FAS. To address these issues, we propose a visualization method that intuitively reflects the training outcomes of models by visualizing the prediction results on datasets. Additionally, we demonstrate that employing data augmentation techniques, such as downsampling and Gaussian blur, can effectively enhance performance on cross-domain tasks. Building upon our data visualization approach, we also introduce a methodology for setting threshold values based on the distribution of the training dataset. Ultimately, our methods secured us second place in both the Unified Physical-Digital Face Attack Detection competition and the Snapshot Spectral Imaging Face Anti-spoofing contest. The training code is available at https://***/SeaRecluse/CVPRW2024.

The ever increasing number of data-intensive scientific visualizations motivate the need for high-performance data management support. One such example is given from a simulation and visualization system that assists the physician in the planning and execution of a novel, non-invasive, and very effective treatment of brain aneurysm. The output dataset of this blood flow simulation is very large and information rich that demands an effective means to gaining insights into the nature of lime-varying flow fields. For this purpose, we built a computing environment which exploits efficient data storage and management techniques to provide a sufficient performance for real-time visualization. Our approach has substantial advantages for achieving higher access efficiency and storage utilization, yielding frame rates suitable for interactive visualization on common desktop workstations. Practical experiments indicate that the techniques developed in this environment can provide the basic building blocks for future efficient implementation of large complex data visualization systems.

In the context of program comprehension, learning and working in teams, e.g., via pair programming, shared documentation, and discussions, can facilitate the comprehension tasks. So far, team collaboration is a relatively unexplored aspect in software visualizations, in particular approaches which are designed and explored to enable collaborative program comprehension. In this paper, we introduce our collaboratively usable software visualization environment for program comprehension. Related approaches are often limited to single-user modes, therefore neglect the advantages of multi-user collaboration, or allow only the use of a single type of device. Our approach addresses this topic and allows users to collaboratively explore software visualizations in a device-heterogeneous environment. User events, e.g., sharable pop-up information windows, are synchronized between each session participant, regardless of the employed device. To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the first approaches that combines on-screen, virtual reality, and augmented reality modes in a single web-based SV tool for program comprehension. We conducted a user study to collect initial results regarding the perceived usefulness and enjoyment of co-explored software cities In that study, 20 participants collaboratively solved program comprehension tasks while using each mode consecutively. The results indicate that the majority of participants find our approach useful and enjoyable, with AR being the least favored mode. We provide each participant's video recording, the study's raw results, Jupyter Notebooks, and all steps to reproduce our evaluation as supplementary package. Furthermore, a live demo of our tool is available online.1 We invite other researchers to extend our open-source software and jointly research this novel approach. Video URL: https://***/MYAkRMWLVD8

Comprehension of concepts and algorithms involved in the robotics field can be improved through the use of an interactive visualization tool. In this paper we present an interactive tool for visualizing and editing motion planning environments, problem instances, and their solutions. Teachers can take advantage of visualization tools to help their students to better understand motion planning and its complexity as well as the different strategies that have been developed to solve the motion planning problem. While the tool we present allows the animation, manipulation, and evaluation of solution paths found by any motion planner, it is specialized for sampling-based randomized planners such as Probabilistic Roadmap (PRM) and Rapidly-Exploring Random Tree (RRT) methods.

Breakthroughs in transformer-based models have revolutionized not only the NLP field, but also vision and multimodal systems. However, although visualization and interpretability tools have become available for NLP models, internal mechanisms of vision and multimodal transformers remain largely opaque. With the success of these transformers, it is increasingly critical to understand their inner workings, as unraveling these black-boxes will lead to more capable and trustworthy models. To contribute to this quest, we propose VL-InterpreT, which provides novel interactive visualizations for interpreting the attentions and hidden representations in multimodal transformers. VL-InterpreT is a task agnostic and integrated tool that (1) tracks a variety of statistics in attention heads throughout all layers for both vision and language components, (2) visualizes cross-modal and intra-modal attentions through easily readable heatmaps, and (3) plots the hidden representations of vision and language tokens as they pass through the transformer layers. In this paper, we demonstrate the functionalities of VL-InterpreT through the analysis of KD-VLP, an end-toend pretraining vision-language multimodal transformer-based model, in the tasks of Visual Commonsense Reasoning (VCR) and WebQA, two visual question answering benchmarks. Furthermore, we also present a few interesting findings about multimodal transformer behaviors that were learned through our tool.

In this paper we describe the theoretical background for AVE, an automatic visualization engine for semantic networks. We have a functional notion of aesthetics and therefore understand meaningfulness as a central issue for informationvisualization. This implies that the diagrams should communicate the characteristics of the data as effectively as possible. In this generative theory of diagram design, we include aspects data characterization, systematic use of graphical means of expression and the combination of graphical means of expression. After giving a brief introduction and an application scenario we discuss these aspects in detail. Finally, a process model of an automatic visualization process is sketched and directions for further research are outlined.

Whilst the visual arts is a very practical and tangible field, data visualisation is a combination of programming skills, data science and design theory. Each of these can be taught in a variety of ways, from traditional methods of lectures to technical programming classes or even asynchronous worksheets. The challenge is how to cover all of the required content within the constraints of the teaching period, environment, delivery method and ensuring the appropriate activities and assessment tasks. In this paper we reflect on the past 8 years of delivering the postgraduate unit 'Data Exploration and Visualisation' at Monash University. We present the four different ways that the same content has been taught to different cohorts, through a combination of on-campus lectures, large-format workshops, small group tutorials and online or hybrid tutorials and workshops, as well as various readings, videos and asynchronous activities. We explain the different external and internal requirements set for the teaching and describe the adaption of the teaching methods and assessments in order to meet these conditions. We reflect on our experiences of teaching multiple methods across different formats from very small to very large student cohorts.

A general need for tourists is the availability of guides that tell them what to see in the cities they visit. Normally, paper guides are used, mobile applications that digitize physical guides or official tourism services that inform tourists in person. However, in the last decade, huge amounts of data released by institutions and companies have become available in many cities that can be used to create value-added services. This article describes the development of a mobile application that aims to facilitate tourist visits to the city of Madrid, so that the functionality it offers is implemented as a value-added service that uses data from various sources of information in order to create a system that offers multiple functions aimed at planning visits to monuments and other places of interest. The value of this application lies in the exploitation it carries out on the data it collects, from which it creates services such as recommending plans, generating itineraries, planning visits or searching for plans using geolocation.

Spatial OLAP (SOLAP) systems allow to explore and analyze huge volume of georeferenced data by means of pivot tables, graphical displays and maps. In the last years, SOLAP and Spatial Data Warehouses has received a lot of attention from the academic and industrial communities, who mainly focus on logical and physical data models to improve SOLAP queries performance. Although, geovisualization is essential for effective SOLAP analysis, few works propose advanced methods for the visualization of SOLAP queries results using cartographic displays. In this work, we present some geovisualization methods to reach an effective visualization of pivot table data over maps. We implement these proposals in a web-based SOLAP system, and we use a real case study concerning the analysis of the agro-biodiversity data for the demo scenario.

We develop a visualization tool for designing a topology-aware communication algorithm. This tool visualizes the communication behavior from the logs of a network simulator or an existing parallel computer. Using multiple views, filtering functions, and an animation function, the tool affords users an intuitive understanding of communication behavior and provides statistical information. A distinction between the behaviors of the new all-to-all communication algorithm and the conventional one is drawn clearly by the tool.
